Fantastic customer service. I was in Purgatory--a.k.a The City of Newburgh Department of Motor Vehicles, and there was a dot missing or a comma or whatever and they were ready to reject my whole pile of BS paperwork to register my commercial truck. I called WA Smith and Jack and Cathy literally dropped what they were doing, I heard the poor man sigh as I do when I have to do the same, and corrected and immediately faxed over the insurance certificate to the DMV. Otherwise, it would have been three and a half hours completely wasted.
I have been insured with William A Smith & Son as long as I can remember. At all times I have found them to be excellent in all respects of customer service and in the policies they issue to me. I have had Cathy Masztalics as my primary representative and I could not wish for a more competent and friendly person to deal with. I highly recommend them to anyone needing insurance of any kind.

Be careful who you deal with! One of the agent from this company has caused us so much trouble in the past that I can't describe in just a paragraph! Matthew Ciccone who works for this company approached me in 2010 and requested to make a presentation in my local trade association. Soon after his presentation, he met with me personally to discuss our business insurance policy. I have a high end painting company in Westchester and most of our work is interior painting. Everyone knows that due to long winter months, rain, heat of Summer, etc. there is not much time to do exterior painting work around NY. we had discussed all this with him and he got us an insurance policy which he promised is the best we can get anywhere. I signed all paperwork without taking the time to read through it carefully! Three years later we found out that our policy was only issued for exterior painting with a much higher premium and we did not have coverage for interior painting which is the main part of our business. After complaining to the office staff, we were told that he no longer works with William A. Smith and Son Insurance. Recently, we are dealing with more issues regarding our insurance and after a quick online search, we found out that Mathew Ciccone still works for them and we were lied to! Don't trust this agent with your insurance policy and don't make the same mistake as we did. SAVE YOURSELF FROM ALL THE HEADACHE!
Ellen Quimby ROCKS as my agent. She handles all our business and personal insurance. Unlike other agencies I've used, she's right there with you when the inspectors and adjusters are on site. She always gets the best price and in a timely manner. Always available when documentation is need. I couldn't ask for anything more.

We have been clients of William A. Smith & Son, Inc. for a very long time. We've been very pleased with the service we've received but have rarely had need of it. However, recently an issue arose whereby our account showed that we owed an amount that, in fact, we were to be credited with. Personal Lines Client Manager, Cathy Masztalies, provided truly exceptional service to resolve this issue. The disputed amount was quite small. The time and attention Ms. Masztalies devoted to resolving this matter for us was disproportionately greater than the amount in question. We've been extraordinarily impressed by Ms.Masztalies' attention and persistence until the matter was resolved to our benefit. We can only imagine the responses she must provide when the problems are large ones!
