We have stayed here four times now. Never even bother looking for other options. This place has its own water parks. 4 indoor and 4 outdoor. Plus go carts and arcades, etc. No need to leave the property! The rooms are nice enough. Tex-style with animal horns and knotty wood decor. Sometimes the rooms can be a bit humid as to be expected with the water parks and wet people / clothing all over the place. Still well maintained though.

Awesome place! Multiple locations to swim: wave pool, various slides, and toddler swim area. They also have a big arcade along with a huge playhouse. Only con I can think of is that the resort is so big you can get lost easily.
We went during wintertime and it was extremely busy. There are three indoor water parks but they are all miles away from one another...TONS of walking to get to each of them, crowded and a lot waiting in line for drinks, food and rides. They also don't allow carry ins which would be fine if their food and beverages were reasonably priced and/or higher in quality. I went to the information desk for my complimentary coupon book, supposed to be a quick thing. I waited 15 minutes while the ONE employee went through each component of the book with the folks in front of me. I kindly interrupted and asked if I could please just pick up my coupon book and not have to go through the whole presentation, he asked that I'd wait till he was done with the family. I left. Good grief!
Pro's - The different pools and water slides available. The front hotel entrance is very welcoming with it's wilderness attire.
Con's - The interior of the buildings and the hotel rooms look very run down and dirty. The $50 up charge to use the facilities in addition to your normal nightly hotel fees, taxes. Bring your own food and drink because it's very expensive in the bars and restaurants on site.
Would give zero stars if I could. Guest check in was very rude and seemed they had no clue. Thankfully a manager noticed my anger and gave passes so the kids could go swimming while the issue was being taken care of. Would not stay on the Glacier side again.
This was the 1st time we've stayed at a cabin on site and it was totally worth the extra cash for a large group! Swim facilities were great as always. Worth the drive from anywhere!
I have been going to the Wilderness for over 17 or 18+ years. My family absolutely loves going there. There is so much for the whole family to do. Never had a bad experience.
One of the main reasons we go there vs other waterpark resorts is that only people that pay to stay there are allowed in to the waterparks. This has always been a huge plus for us and other families we know. Hopefully it will go back to just that. Please reconsider selling day passes and go back to the way it has always been. Hopefully we can go back there soon if it changes back :)
Stayed in a villa and for the price you pay per night I expected more. We chose a villa to minimize the number of times we ate out. With a family of 6 it gets expensive so it's nice to plan meals an eat home cooked meals. While we were able to make the meals we planned for the vacation, the kitchen amenities were very disappointing. There wasn't a whisk (used a fork but it's cheap and would have been nice), no large mixing bowls, 2 frying pans (villa sleeps 9 people so a few more options would be great), no tongs, no large spoons that weren't slotted, etc. Additionally, the unit was older and showed many signs of its age. Toilet paper holder was falling off the wall. The shower doors were old, didn't roll smooth, or close all the way. The front door let in a fair amount of cold air from outside and a few other things that should have been fixed. Overall, decent stay but way overpriced!
On the personnel side, the staff was AMAZING! Thoroughly impressed with the hospitality and service we received. Life guards, hotel staff, security, and anyone else we interfaced with was absolutely wonderful to talk with.
Rooms were clean but it was hard to regulate the temperature without opening the sliding door. They need more tables and chairs in the water parks because it is impossible to get one on weekends.
It is the worst water park in Wisconsin dells the hot tubs are warm and hot tubs are called hot tubs for a reason not warm tubs. And I was able to go on the go carts but if I left and there was a new person I wouldn't be able to ride.
The kids enjoyed the different parks and attractions and we did not have much to complain about. The rooms were a little dated and the beds were uncomfortable but that's not too different from most hotels. All in all it was an enjoyable stay.
I Love The Wilderness Resort!! It's Amazing BUT sometimes they put a little bit TOO much chlorine in pools which is bad for adults or kids with asthma.
We love the wilderness. The rooms are clean, the water parks are huge and the staff is always very helpful and accommodating. They have so much to offer for families. The resort is in a great location and the shuttle service is so convenient.
Great place, lots of fun. Guest recommendations:. If you are staying for a while, bring laundry detergent, coffee and dishwasher soap. They give you some, but it didn't seem possible to get more.
Great place to take the kids for a water park experience, we stayed in 2 bedroom condo and it was amazing room, a kitchen with everything you need, saved tons of money making the kids meals and dinner right on the room. 5 watermarks to visit in side the resort, lots of things to do if you get water logged, go carts inside and out, mini golf, laser tag, arts and crafts. Great place. Saved tons of $$.
Our room was very clean and beds were comfortable. The water is a bit cold for the kids and the food at the Cafe was completely awful (probably the worst food I've ever had) and extremely overpriced. I can't believe how bad the food was at their cafe so I would suggest getting your food elsewhere.
My family and friends have been coming to the resort for 10+ years and have always enjoyed our time there. As always the water parks and outdoor areas were a blast. The lifeguards and drivers were all fun and great with the kids. The facilities were clean and well maintained. We have stayed in a lot of different rooms on the resort, but our favorite has been the Wilderness on the Lake. This year unfortunately was a big disappointment. Our accommodations were less than desirable. Which is sad because we have stayed in this room in previous years. Our very first night in the room we noticed a bad smell in the front of the unit. Our friends in the next room also had a smell. While investigating what it could be we noticed the AC unit filter had not been cleaned in a long time. There was lent falling off the filter onto the floor. Pretty nasty, not to mention the fire hazard. Next, we set up the fold out bed in the living room only to find more surprises. First the mattress was upside down with the springs facing up. When flipping it over we realized someone took the easy way out on cleaning. The sheets were covered in unidentifiable stains. Not a real comfortable feeling having to sleep on filth. There was also no free wi-fi, matter of fact there was none. After talking to the front desk, we were told it would be up in a day. After talking to another guest, we realized the wi-fi was out the whole week. So much for letting the kids watch movies. Would have rather heard the truth that they just didn t know. I sat in the lobby one morning to have coffee to realize there was a lot of unhappy guests. Funny the front desk staff had the same response for everyone. Sorry it s out of our control. As for the prices, things are getting a little out of control. In 10 years, I have seen the price of one drink rise at least $2.00. Gets expensive for a family of 4. We have resorted to eating in the rooms to make the trip less expensive. Sad because they do have really good food. Very disappointed that we spend as much money as we do to come there only to find very fixable issues. Did I mention the steri-strips covering a hole in the curtains? You can t even make this stuff up. Sure wish I could post pictures to show everyone. I would love to go back and give a 5/5 rating like we used to, but this is not acceptable. Not sure we will go back again. For the money I spend we will try somewhere else. Sure hope they can turn things around.
This place is huge. We loved our experience but we also knew how large it was. Either you walk a lot or drive to each water park. I suppose the large size means that, even when it is busy, it doesn't feel busy.
Out of all my years of coming to Wisc. Dells with my family, this was by far our favorite place of all time. Hands down friendliest and cleanest resort that we have been to. We went to the the different water parks, and couldn't decide which one to be at. And for the adults I would recommend the Miami Vice beverage! We will definitely be returning to this resort next year!
This is our second time at Wilderness. We love it and will be back the next time we rant a waterpark vacation in this area. The first time we stayed in the hotel. This time we had a 3-bedroom condo. The condo was fabulous. Very comfortable beds, 2 1/2 bathrooms, very nice living room with fireplace, kitchen equipped with everything we needed to have breakfast and lunch in our room. Skywalks to get to everything and a shuttle, too. Kids loved all the waterparks.
The wilderness has been my go to resort for over five years. Always a pleasure being there. I wrote in the notes session for a specific floor request since my son has a hard time walking long distances and they selected a fantastic room! Rooms are always clean. Staff is super warming and welcoming. Yes, the different water parks are a bit spread apart but it sure does help space out the number of people. Always something to do and some where to go. I just want to add I stayed at the Kalahari the following day and frankly wish I was at the wilderness. I will never make the mistake again of booking any where else. Wilderness rocks!
This resort has something for everyone. The water parks each take your entire family into account, my three year old was just as entertained as my 9 year old. If swimming is not your thing then try one of the many arcades, zip line, 2 tracks go-carts, laser tag, etc. There was plenty to do for my wife and I, the adult only swim up bar is a nice touch. With several on site restuarants, several on site Starbucks and snack locations you'll never go hungry.
Great indoor water parks (3) for all ages. Hotel is aged, but works. Hallways were congested at times and a little noisy. The hotel staff were friendly.
The water parks are great! Grandkids really enjoyed them. The breakfast and dinner buffet are very good. However the house keeping staff really did not measure up for the price we paid for our room. Sink and mirror not cleaned dirty towel left on bathroom floor and replacement sheet for pullout bed was not left in room. Makes me wonder what else doesn't get done when they "clean" rooms
This is a great place. We had a ton of fun and there is so much to do. A family can really have a lot of fun here.
The only reason why this is 4 instead of 5 was due to the inconsistent life guards. I got in a lazy river to grab a tube, wasn t four feet away from the steps when I grabbed one and a life guard yelled at me saying I must have one even to enter and I had to stay on it. Then the next day, a bunch of teenagers were running a muck in the lazy river not in tubes and the life guard was giving them high fives and appeared to be timing them on how fast they could go around.
We were also told that our three year old had to always be wearing a life jacket and at one point a life guard took it off her saying she wasn t supposed to have one on where she was.
Other than our experiences with the life guards though everything was amazing.
Fantastic water parks, will come back over and over again.
We don t necessarily like the food offered within the resort but with so many restaurants around and a full kitchen in our condo we have no problem adjusting.
My family and I recently stayed at the wilderness resort and had a great time. The waterparks were so much fun for my children. The food was decent, but a bit expensive. The rooms were nice and had balconies which was relaxing after a fun-filled day.
This was the best place I ever went too and its been a year since I last went, and now am going again on spring break! I cant wait to go back again! =)
Awesome stay in the cabin with 18 of my friends . I love the shuttle to provide us transportation to and from the pool . cabins are beautiful and clean .
We've been coming here since I was born! 19 years of amazing experiences! So much more to do then all the other resorts! The rooms are so nice, the staff is amazing! Something to do for all ages! I 10/10 would recommend!
Most WI Dells rooms are kinda nasty, but Wilderness are clean and spacious rooms. A lot of great water sides. The Hurricane is pretty insane. Margarita Bar for adults in the dome is definitely worth checking out.
Always great service. Staff is friendly. Lots of great amenities for the price of the room and lots more if you want to spend extra. Wish a waterpark was open til 10.
