Every time we have been here there has been issues. From the room never being ready( messages that we ate in 2 different rooms, people smoking pot in the room next to us and staff not doing anything about it ( called in local pd, as our 2 and 3 y/o were wondering what the funny smoke smell was after 3 hours of talking to the front desk) to our stuff being stolen stolen at the wave pool and our truck getting hit by a snow plow in the parking lot. I am done with this place. Never have I ever had a worse experience at hotel over and over on several different trips, trying to let our kids enjoy being here, we have made several different attempts to re-try thinking it was just a fluke, but no. I highly doubt I will ever return to this place.
We did the escape room on 6/16 and our game master Alexis was absolutely amazing. I could not be happier with how she handled her self during the course of the game and kept the game so fun and interesting throughout it. Would absolutely recommend to anyone!!
This resort is an entertainment complex and has so much to to and explore, you could easily spend 5 days exclusively on site. The service was average, the food was average, but the maintenance was poor.
We stayed at the Glacier Canyon Lodge. Our room was dirty when we arrived: dirty, unmatched, socks under the dining table, carpet not vacuumed, general surfaces in the kitchen and living room not cleaned, and hair left over in the bathtub. The headboard on the Murphy bed was broken, but that was not a concern, as compared to the rest of the areas. We called and asked for the above to be rectified. We left the room for a couple hours and upon our return, the only thing that was done was the removal of the socks and a poor vacuuming job only in the main walkways. We called again, this time to complain. The manager said he would be right down with housekeeping. It felt very awkward being asked to stay in the room when they came. I'm not a neat or germ freak by any means. But this was just unacceptable. There was only one apology from the manager, no offer for a discount or free meal for our inconvenience. I've stayed at the Wilderness many times in the past, but this will be my last time. I do want to add a POSITIVE comment. Sid, the maintenance man, was very friendly and he replaced the motor in our fireplace right away. It was making an annoying squeaking noise. He was very nice and took care of the problem right away. Thank you Sid!
Thieves!!!! Stayed there 3 days and i forgot my purse. When i called the resort they told me no one was in the room checked in they will send security to look for it and it was gone. Only CLEANING STAFF was in the room. Its very obvious they stole it i even told them to watch the cameras i walked in with the purse but never walked out. Purse was worth a lot (LV) i got it as an anniversary present a few months ago from my husband. Managers basically asked the cleaning crew if they took it they said no and for them case is closed. I will never return to this resort and will tell all my friends to go elsewhere .
Best place ever, rooms are super clean as well as all the restaurants and pools! So worth every penny. The candy store rocks they just have so much to do for the kids! Highly recommend this place!
I, my sister and my friends were surprised by my friend's mom and my aunt that we were coming here. We came here for the 4th of July and let me tell you it was probably the best 2 nights of my entire life. We got the deluxe pack so we could go to all of the waterparks. We all raced and had the most fun you could imagine. I highly! recommend coming here. The rooms were great and overall I think we had no problems however signing in and getting our hotel room was a little complicated but that's understandable! You should definitely come here soon whenever you can! I loved this place.
Went to the Wilderness on a getaway with my 4 friends. Got a room with 2 Queen beds and a pullout sleeper. The sleeper was uncomfortable and bowed in the middle. The patio door wouldn't latch properly. Shower was fine. Sound dampening could have been a bit better. Service was mediocre at best. Shuttles to the casino were late. Drinks and other things were very, very expensive. Room was clean. View was over the kid pools but they were drained at this time of year. Wave pool and other resort activities were fun and worth the cost. Would recommend this over the Kalahari and Mt. Olympus
My wife booked a weekend for the family in November. My kid turned seven. He was able to take a friend. The rooms were amazing, the atmosphere was fun and the three swimming areas (and swim up bar for adults) were awesome and very well kept. 10 for 10 would do this again.
We rented a villa. After checking in we packed up all our this because the place was disgusting. We called guest services and they sent cleaners over. We pointed out all the dirty spots and walked around for a hour. Upon return they had left half the messess we pointed out and did a halfass job of cleaning the ones that they cleaned . Very disappointed twice. We are cleaning the gross ourselves because we can t deal with it.
I love the Wilderness Resort! A wonderful spot to vacation and part of what is so nice is that you don't have to go off of resort property to enjoy a vast array of activities! Some of these are indoor and outdoor waterparks, outdoor zip line, indoor ropes course, laser tag, indoor and outdoor mini golf, outdoor and indoor go-karts, several arcades, restaurants, gift shops and concessions. So much to do!!!
We stayed here 1 night over looking lake dalton. What a great room. I wish we had stayed vs going to kalarahi. I enjoyed the kid activities in the morning. I wish they labeled the pool areas a little better. The wilderness was really the only kid friendly pool. The big water bucket is a little much for small toddlers. But we enjoyed ourselves and we will be back. Didnt like that life guards wouldn't let us take our toddlers down the toddler slides together so they can figure it out and not be afraid.
This is my 6th visit to the Wilderness. I've stayed at Glacier Canyon, the cabins, the condominiums between Wild West and Klondike Cavern and Wilderness on the Lake. Whoever runs this place is genius. First, only Wilderness guests are allowed to use the 8 water parks, which makes for less wait times and congestion. If you want your pick of tables during peak times at a park get there early though. Shuttling between your accomodations and the parks is easy once you understand the different colored lines and where they go. Public areas appear well maintained and workers are seen cleaning/picking up trash often. I've always been pleased with the accomodations and when there has been an issue they are quick to remedy it- super customer service Wilderness! I'll be back again, and probably again and again if they keep delivering happy and positive experiences!
Rooms were great! The condos blew me and my family away. The pool areas were awesome. Great and wonderful staff. Only issue is no real security here! Being an Army Veteran I can see that this is a big issue with anyone just being able to walk in as they please. No bag checks when entering pool areas and other then just wearing a band anyone could get by. Other then this we had a great time. Look forward in coming back.
When we arrived we had to wait in a longer line to get our cards which was expected. After that our room was wonderful and all of the appliances worked and everything was nice and clean. The waterparks were a wonderful addition although the I think I would also like just a pool to lounge in and not have to go through a wave pool or kids playing basketball. Over I would rate my stay a 9/10 and had a lovely time.
Great place for entire family! The inside was warm, clean, lots to eat, lots to do here. You don't have to go anywhere, everything is here, from hot food, drinks, but the beers are $8/ea, a little pricey.
Very decent accommodations. Room was nice and price was right. Just be careful of people trying to rope you into a time share seminar for money. If you're ok spending the time, you can make about $150 in their fake money, Moose Moola, for sitting through a 2 hour seminar, which can be used on property to buy drinks or stuff at the gift shop. One of the water parks has a swim up bar. Overall, it's OK.
Staying Memorial Day Weekend 2018 - disaster. After being verbally harassed by a group of men, we walked in to find a hallway smelling of weed and people passed out. All before 9PM. While life guards and wait staff are nice this is NOT a place to being children. Save your money and sanity and go to Disney instead. Disgusting place to stay.
The good and the bad about this place is that it's huge. Lots to do but everything was a really long way from our room. The 2 bedroom suite we rented was really nice.
My family loves this resort usually around February to celebrate my sister's and my birthday. Its our 4th time that we visit, we are hoping to go in the summer for the 1st time. Wilderness is our favorite resort.
Sad that they require a2 night stay every weekend in summer. Really a ripoff for families on a budget who can't take time off work during the week. Update- we decided to try them again this upcoming weekend after a few years ,hoping for better service . I just called reservations and spoke with Nick and told him I was experiencing severe dizziness and loss of balance the past couple days, and need to get an exam with my doctor tomorrow to see if I can do activity . I am not comfortable walking around a water park knowing I could fall and hurt myself , and you d think they d work with me and reschedule to avoid liability in case I do fall. But no! Nick said that I could NOT reschedule and my only option was to cancel and lose $100 worth of activity pass and discounts . Very sad and upset .
PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING HERE Honestly, I wish I could give this place a worse review. The only good trying about this place was the arcade and and jungle gym. Everything was so crowded, you couldn t get anywhere without bumping in to someone. We ended up paying over $100 more than we thought for the room. But the reason why I wrote this was how sanitary it was. In the pool, the water was so foggy and seemed like it haven t been cleaned in weeks. I saw bandaids, chewed up gum, and brown debris. When we got back; I realized I had gotten a rash on my face and my leg. My sisters got horrible fevers and pinkeye, and my friend who stayed just got a fever.
If you are staying here for a nice time, I suggest switching to a better resort to stay at. Also, when you come here make sure to expect tons of way overpriced items, tons of people, and you and your kids throwing up and running to the bathroom for two weeks.
Great place to vacation. My family drove six and a half hours from Michigan. We stayed in the wilderness villas right near the wave pool. The villa was just like being at home. Kitchen was large enough for great meals to be cooked for our family and friends(9). Walmart is up the street if you need anything else that you may have forgotten. Me and the wife had the king bed. The kids had the 2 queens and a fold out bed in the second room. Our friends had the sleeper sofa downstairs. There's tons of waterparks one outdoor and one indoor at each resort. There is three resorts. They have a arcade in each lobby as well. They have go karts one is indoors and one was outdoors. The karts outdoors are faster. They have laser tag which was a blast. Glacier canyon lodge had the best outdoor waterpark. The park had everything for teens to five and six year olds. The best lazy river. Whirlpools for only 18+. Bars for adults with the giant 30$ dollar drinks. The ziplining was fun but pricey. The only down side was the infamous tour of the new Wyndham suites. We thought we were just going to tour the new section of the resorts being offered a gift card and 150 dollars in resort bucks for our time. So we get in the tour room and walla the time share spill began. Don't get me wrong it felt that way when the perks began. But being just off the road, and our room wasn't ready we decided to go. Even though I thought that was fishy as well because as soon as the tour began we received a text that our room was ready. Okay they give you the spill do a soft inquiry on your credit an whoa your hostage until you meet all the sales specialist. DONT AUTHORIZE THEM TO DO A SOFT INQUIRY ON YOUR CREDIT, IF YOU HAVE GOOD CREDIT YOUR IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL LIKE WE WERE. After telling them no thanks my wife was ready to give all the perks back and leave. No knock on the sales team nice people but when your not interested let it be. Geesh!!! But all in all the wilderness is a great place to vacation.
We had a wonderful time at the resort and were well taken care of. We had an incident of our vehicle being hit while parked in the parking lot and the security staff and police worked in a timely manner to find out who did it and notified us with in 7 hours after the accident! They took care of everything making this run very smoothly. We were very impressed with how well the unfortunate situation was handled and feel VERY comfortable to stay at the Wilderness Resort again!
Great place to spend one week with family. In my case, a very large family (10). We reserved a great room, with view to lake, jacuzzy, 3 bathroom, kitchen, livingroom. Summer is more expensive. We will try at fall next time. 5 - 6 aquatic park, some are under roof.
The amount of fun packed in this resort is unimmaginable. all of the indoor waterparks (3 of them) are air-conditioned and bundles of fun. I highly recommend the wave pool
Room was clean, and the reservation staff helped us with a last minute reservation . however I dislike being lied to. The young lady who checked us in stated that the State "requires" you to charge a resort fee. Please dont insult my intelligence. We all know its jist an extra way for the hotel to make money at the expense of the guests. It's already borderline theft, the least you could do is own up to what your doing instead of trying to pass it off as if you have no choice in the matter.
We stayed in the condo that sleep's 14 people .. the price was definitely good during the week. But would have been a few hundred dollars more a night for the week-end...SO,. I was impressed by everything except for the cleanliness throughout the park and our cabin.. we all took wet wipes everyone wiped light switches door knobs countertops and they ended up being disgusting if you could see how dirty the wipes got... Yukky..in the park all the lawn chairs were sticky fingerprints they all need a good scrubbing when we went back to the park next day found dirty table's sticky ice cream never seen anyone attending or taking care of them ...now as far as having FUN YES...it was great.. Park pool slide attendance was awesome very kind doing a great job. Food was awesome wait staff too.. really took good care of us.... With illnesses and such take care of yourself for your breathing depends on you !
Wild west indoor waterpark is my favorite for little ones but closing at 7 is too early. Rooms and housekeeping great. Check in time took way too long. Only 2 staff checking in. Lifeguards need to enforce safety rules in little kids area. These areas are not for older kids to rough play and push little ones around. Lifeguards did nothing about it. Hard to find parking close to your entrance. And no sidewalks means walking in parking lot. Not safe especially with little ones. Rooms have thin walls.
When we arrived the room had a bad smell. Maintenance came to check very quickly. He cleaned the garbage disposal but believe the smell was from food that had been cooked by previous family that stayed in the room. Also, we found a sanitary napkin attached to one of the post of the bunk bed. They refused to do much to accommodate us. Saying they would move us to different rooms each night of our stay. We decided that we could not trust the cleanliness of any room after finding the sanitary napkin and decided to get a refund. We paid in cash using $100 bills and $20's. They did not have that money an hour later, which is no big deal. The issue is the money they did have was five 20's and the rest were some 10's some 5's and a whole bunch of singles. He gave back to me over $200 dollars worth of singles. After not having enough cash on had to refund me the full amount he comes back with rolls of quarters. I tell him there is no way I am taking a refund in quarters. He said that is all the money they had and I would have to wait until they returned with money from the bank. It seems strange that a hotel of that size would not have more that $550 worth of cash on site. All-in-all it was very bad customer service, minus the maintenance person who said the smell was awful and believed that management was not being very accommodating when he heard our conversation on the phone with them. We will never return to this place.
While we haven t stayed yet, we have an upcoming stay on Monday. We know this is a busy time because of winter break, however overall the customer service is a step below the Kalahari so far. Tacked on expensive resort fees to the rooms making our rooms fairly expensive already at $240/night. We have 2 rooms booked but had to call to get adjoining, no way to do that online or with separate people paying, was told none were available unless we want to pay another $25. Is $25 really worth making it so a family can t be close if we are already paying for two rooms in relatively the same price range. Also wasn t impressed with the fees for canceling. Regardless we are excited for the water parks and to try another resort however we may end back at the Kalahari for our next stay. Maybe it was also the slight annoyance of the woman answering the phone that didn t help smooth over the bad news.
Went here with my family for a all adult getaway in the fall, crowded on the weekend (expected) and dead on the week day which didn't bother us at all, parks were clean and very enjoyable. Yes you have to walk to the parts but you have to walk where Ever you go. They have a shuttle if you can't walk! Restaurants are good a bit expensive but you expect that I mean it's wis dells alot is expensive. We are planning a trip for the summer now so we can experience the whole park!
The hotel room could have been a little cleaner. Thankfully I brought cleaning supplies with us. There was no toilet paper in the room or wash rags. I had to call and request those items be brought to the room. The water parks were nice but much different than other water parks we've been to in the past. They have four different indoor parks and they are spread out. The lifeguards are very young and no doors are locked. They didn't seem to check our wristbands one time. I didn't like that the outdoor side doors to the hotel remain unlocked as well until 10:00 p.m. My son went down the blackhole slide and got stuck and they were not watching the camera and sent two more people down the slide. My husband was frantic looking for him. When the second kid came down and said that he was still in the slide. He could of been seriously hurt. .. but because he wasn't they literally offered us nothing. Not even an apology. We had to inform the managers oursleves. No proper incident paperwork was files with us. We were just informed us that they talked to their lifeguards. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and stairs. The food inside the resort was good. We did the campfire breakfast. We did have fun just feel that things could have been way better and handled much better.
