Although the park is very dated now and looking its age with tired, clunky, aged rides and worn out and dirty facilities, we were local and agreed to meet some friends there for our children to have a play date.

During our visit we ordered some lunch, after 1hr 30mins we were given a limp and tasteless burger and chips (how hard is it to get a burger and chips wrong?), we were one of several families who complained on the day.

Most of the park staff aren't much older than children themselves, they haven't been given much if any training and on the day we visited no supervisors or management were available on site.

Wheelgate customer services contacted us by email and offered us complimentary tickets which we have never received, when we have chased them up for these they say 'they are looking in to it' but don't ever give a substantive response.

We are still without the complimentary tickets over a month later and can only guess that the customer service department are just as rubbish as the restaurant staff at delivering what they offer.

Dreadful customer service and mediocre park.

Visit if you have to, but be sure to take your own food and only have incredibly low expectations for customer service.

Simply poor. Some rides were not working and haven't for some time by the look of them, serious lack of maintenance on the site, it's worn out! Food choice is poor with staff jumping the queue (well going to the the side door and getting food immediately). No water so hot drinks were not available across the site. At the outdoor eating areas there were no parasols, however the staff had them at their working stations. Only one smoking area on the site, hence people were smoking anywhere they could. It was fantastic when we last visited a couple of years ago, Shall not be returning.

Visited today with my partner and 3 year old daughter and it is definitely one of the worse places I have ever been to!
Walking around the park was like walking around an abandoned building site, unsafe and very unattractive for children! There are hardly any rides for children of any age and those that you do find are not working or outdated!
The indoor play areas smelled strongly of urine and obviously hadn't been cleaned in what appeared to be a long time!
If you enjoy seeing meerkats run around a rabbit's pen and sitting in a play area with parents who treat it like a creche whilst they update their social media status then this place is for you.
If you want a family day out in the local area, twinlakes or sundown are much better!

Good family day out though all the rideas are a little out dated and the whole place needs a good paint! Staff all seemed really young but competent to a point. Some of the rides make no sense with their height restrictions but guess that's health and safety gone mad these days! We stayed for a whole day. Highly recommend taking a picnic, plenty of places and benches to eat on. The food is over priced and not great quality.
Overall a cheap and cheerful day out

If you live in Nottinghamshire and you have young children this is the place for you. No large groups of adults all the rides are designed for children. As for cost it's not to steep and you can definitely spend a whole day there.

Throughout the summer they put on events. This year was circus, wheel of death and transformers. Ok so some of the dancers in the circus had less clothes on than a bikini model but we can all look past that and enjoy the show.

Amazing place for kids. Has swimming pool, Park, indoor place and outdoor, horses, a lot of birds, snakes, a lot of animals and helpful staff. U can touch animals, A bit too much expensive but overall is ok. Minimum spend time is 5 hours to see all place. I been there over 5 hours and still was not enough time to see all the places around. Nice swimming pool but cold water. Very cold. Five stars park

So much to do and great value for money. Wheelgate is reasonably priced given that some local soft play area cost half as much. There is lots to do rides slides and attractions. The waterpark is awesome so remember your swinwear or a change of clothes. We arrived at 10 and left at 17:30 and still didn't do everything. Half term promotion is great and we now have free tickets to twinlakes for next month.

We love wheelgate and visit several times a year. The staff are friendly, polite and very helpful. The food is great and well priced. ( for my family of 7 it's cheaper to eat there rather than take a picnic ) Theres something for every age. My daughter had an accident which the firstaider and manager both checked her over, management called the next day to make sure she was ok. They go above and beyond to make sure there guests have a great day.

Fair prices, friendly staff & a wide variety of rides, attractions and features for the young ones. Plenty of choices, inside and out make Wheelgate a safe bet, especially during winter, when most facilities of this type are closed until Easter.

Wheelgate offers a variety of activities for all age ranges so everyone can get involved on a day out. It's easy to find and well signposted close to the venue. The waterpark is a great addition and the maze can be intimidating but fun.
As long as my children enjoy it then it gets a big thumbs up from me.

Great affordable fun for young kids, water park is fantastic on hot days. Make sure you take socks for the indoor attractions. Would get a 5th if some of the run down stuff was renewed and catering was a little better

Great place for kids. Lots of rides and attractions to entertain children. I would say because of the somewhat overdramatic height restrictions it's best left for children 3 plus. As smaller children cannot do a great deal bar from carousel and soft play even when with an adult. A good mix of indoor and outdoor attractions but to get the most out of it you need a relatively dry day unless you don't mind wet bottoms. Does get very busy in the school holidays from opening (10am) and quietens down later in the day. Worst part of the park is the bathroom facilities which are well below par, dated and unclean although some are better than others. All in all great for a big day out with kids aged 3-11.

This is an amazing theme park. Wouldn't really recommend it to older children, but makes a nice day out with all of the family. Staff are very friendly, whilst trying their very best to keep you safe. Very family friendly. It has lots of food stations to keep you energised throughout your visit. 5 stars, with no doubt.

Rated 1 star purely because i can't rate it a 0. I've known of staff used to work there and left due to the rides, they have don't keep up with maintenance, and anything that comes off the rides i.e screws, bolts. etc they don't bother replacing. this makes me question how they ever pass the safety checks on the rides. maybe fix them a few days before... pathetic! it's supposed to be a fun safe place for kids!

Visited yesterday for the visit time. Booked online so slightly cheaper. We had such a good day, although very hot we found shade under trees whilst the children enjoyed the park ect. Found the park clean and tidy and staff emptying the overflowing bins after a busy morning/lunch. Toilets were the only negative, feel they should of been checked and cleaned more during the day. I would say most of the rides are aimed at younger children, 8yrs and under. Splash park was fab, very busy by the afternoon but the children still managed plenty of goes on each slide. You need a blue mat to go down slides and when you get to the end your meant to hand it to those waiting at bottom and 're queue for a mat again. Some children were not following this rule. Maybe staff members should enforce this more at the bottom of slides as not all were being manned. A couple of grown 'ladies' decided to walk around chucking water on ppl who were standing at the sides watching their children clearly not wanting to get wet. Staff were informed but shame on those adults who acted worse than the children!!!
We took picnics but food seemed fairly priced. We had drinks and ice cream there. All in all a very good day we didn't get to see the animals or visit the maze the day went so quickly but would visit again!

Been to whee lgate park today with my daughter and two grandsons, age 1 and 2, we have had a fantastic day but feel I should mention a couple of problems, some of the attractions could do with a member of staff supervising them, the bouncy castle is supposed to be for age 2 to 6 but there was 10 year olds on them, very dangerous when little ones are on there, also in the indoor play centre there were older children in there when it clearly states up to 5 year old, the door kept being left open all the time and our 2 year old wandered out of it, also the paths are not very good the service is very rough and our 2 year old had a couple of falls, the wood chipings that were in a lot of places made it very difficult to push a push chair, having said all that we had lovely day, with a few improvements it would be a lot safer for the kids

What a great place for the younger set of kids. If you are like me and have kids who are not quite tall enough to make the price of big name theme park value for money then this place is awesome for you. The rides are perfect for my 6 and 8 year olds, and even this half term the queues were very manageable. Love this place, and have bought annual membership - excellent value for money

The website and leaflet are very disceiving making you think there are more rides than what there is. The bumper boats had only two working out of eight. It is just a glorified play ground and not worth the money at all. The food is expensive and awful! The only positive thing was the animals, although I disagree totally in colouring horses hair and painting the horses pretending they are unicorns - seriously!? I feel it is unfair. Our four, nearly five year old said in the car, "never want to go there again". He has never said that before. This place needs a huge make over.

The splash pool is great fun for kids, and adults too if you're up to it in our English weather. Lots of things for children to do, suits children probably up to 12. There's lots of space for picnics or just playing on the grass. A cafe, toilets and a small gift shop.

The website looked way better than the park itself. Run down and tired, some of the rides looked ready for the scrap heap and the burgers in the cafe were for me inedible. The water park was really good and the outdoor wooden play area was also really good. Hardly any of the vending machines work but still take your money so be careful as they dont refund. Most of the staff were friendly but we wont be returning in a hurry.
