I didn't go to Western, and I did admire the school, so I applied for several jobs at Western but never got an interview. I understood I might not be the best candidate, so I called the Human Resources a couple of times, asking for feedback to help with the after application but no one return my call, that's so rude, I also called to ask how can I reupload my cover letter coz I uploaded the wrong one, no body called me back either, if you can't teach your employees to be polite to others how could you teach your students???

Spent my last four years here, definitely the most memorable time of my life. Highly recommended for those who pursue academic success and practical life and work skills. Luv ya forevereverever. :D

I had the time of my life at the university. I'm kind of sad that they are calling it 'Western University ' and not "The University of Western Ontario". I'm not very impressed with the acrylic tacky looking sign in the front and back of the campus but I guess change is sometimes hard. MOST professors are accommodating. Professor Teevan is most memorable to me. What a great statistics professor.

As a science undergraduate, I feel sorry for some chemistry student who had terrible years at Western as comment shows. Hopefully everyone could get on his/her own track and carry on. I also did some chemistry courses with Prof. Calvin and Prof. Griffiths, personally I think they are really responsible and helpful.
You could only get a sense for how good or bad the university is when you study somewhere else. When I exchange to a so called top university in the UK in my third year, well I would say Western DOES offer much much better science programs and study experiences. Won't regret to be at Western.

Beautiful campus! Lots to see when walking around inside and out! As a student I was treated as a number not a person. Their priority is clearly to make money, not support their students. There should be a better balance between the two.

Spent 5 years of my life here, and I'm going to miss it so much! My profs were all top-notch and created an awesome learning experience, and the student life is great if you put some effort into making the most of it. No school is without its shortcomings, but going to Western was still the best decision I've ever made :)

Staff are pushy, apathetic and not willing to help. Spending 1.5 month applying for a special permission, end up poorly. As a fourth year, definitely wouldn't recommend to students who want to pursue a comfortable university life.

Good scenery and athletic center. Western has decent academic focus, especially in medical science and the Ivey Business school. It also has a good philosophy program. Small class sizes in less selective programs may lead to greater opportunities in research, etc.

The University of Western Ontario, also known as Wesley University, is a well-known medical doctoral public university in London, Ontario, Canada, referred to as UWO, Western or Western Ontario. The University of Western Ontario was founded in 1878 and was founded as a religious university by the British Church, then known as the Western University of London Ontario.

I would have to agree with a fellow poster a few down from mine, this school will leave you with a bitter feeling even though it is not a difficult school to obtain whatever degree you are seeking. There are administrative rules that are antiquated and frankly, favour wealthy students far above and beyond the regular student who obtains OSAP. The problem also lies with faculty that is nurtured and coddled when they should be dumped in the desert starving and thirsty. The problems stem from the universities thirst for research over competency in teaching abilities so perhaps they need a second university where all their lackie profs go to stick there head in the sand for their next big research assignment...and leave the real teaching professors in the school with the students. They will never get another dime from me, but they sure do beg for the money once you are a grad.

2) I have the best grad school experience at Western in Canada.
3) Love the Campus and everything about Western.

Waste of money, idk why this school is so overrated,it's a tier 3 university at best. This school's academic sucks, and not managed well, and scams my money by being forced to buy lab manuel, mastering physics and mastering engineering. Exams are also very unprofessional.

I decided to do an MSc in Chemistry at Western. I guess I learned a lot and discovered I don't enjoy academic research. On the other hand I felt like I had little support and was pushed past my limits. The professors there are all about status and grad students are part of that. The mandatory seminars are popularity contests where students are rated not on their work but on the merits of their supervisors.

Being an undergrad TA and seeing my now wife going through undergrad there I realized that it's not just graduate students that feel that way. At Western students are numbers and tests are king. In my own undergrad I felt like I was treated more fairly. All exams up to second year are all multiple choice and some courses only have marks from tests at least in the faculty of science.

Most professors are not invested in teaching and are overworked. Overall it was a stressful experience and I never felt as bad about myself and as unhappy as when I was attending UWO.

Beautiful campus, great student experience, excellent education. I have completed one degree and am currently completing another at this excellent institution and I cannot recommend it enough. So much to do!

Location - easy to get to by car or bus.

Location - easy to get to by car or bus.
Facilities - always improving/upgrading and adding new and exciting spaces for staff and students - grounds are beautifully maintained.
Sports - as a spectator, I've enjoyed watching football, hockey, soccer and swimming events. There is something for everyone with an interest in participating in sports.
Academics - (last but not least) Excellent course offering. Both of my children graduated from Western (Ivey Business and Main Campus) with honours. If you put in the work, you can achieve the grades and as in both of my son's cases, find a great job upon graduation.
If you are a student looking for a University, Western has a lot to offer with great resources as long as you take advantage of them.

Western has an incredibly beautiful campus teeming with life. It has a good blend of natural and man made element, cementing the fact that you re in forest city. Like any university the staff varies in quality but overall the student experience is enjoyable and welcoming!

The professors and staff at the Faculty of Ed. are unprofessional. The professors and staff will single students out and essentially harass them. I myself have had very negative experiences in this faculty with staff and students. I have also encountered other teachers who have mentioned to me that they to have had a very negative and unenjoyable experiences at this faculty. I am a professional educator of 20 plus years experience. I would strongly urge anyone considering this faculty to avoid it. There are many other Faculties of Education in Ontario which can provide a student with positive experiences and a quality education.

This is the most ridiculous place ever. If you're ever thinking of visiting, or going to take a look around, don't bother. They're horrible to their students and visitors. I can't believe what I've witnessed.

They are just money making machines, who take money and a lot of your effort in name of application process. Then they simply do not offer admission and their department never ever gets back to you with any sort of feedback.
Rude, pathetic people

Honestly Western is not the same anymore, they do not care about students or what students go through. the school is not what it seems like they are full of it and think they are the best. they should be investigated and magazines like Macleans should investigate the school and rank them truthfully. Also clean the washrooms in Weldon you're due for a renovation its worse than a gas station washroom.

I am a freshman. The first impression that Western gave me was that girls were especially crowded, and most of the people around them were Med Sci or bmos. Everyone who comes here often has a common awkwardness, such as entering Med School and ivey business school.
After coming here, I deeply felt the hard work of my friends around me. And I am not as good as others in many fields, and sometimes I can even be crushed by shackles. Although I have a lot of deficiencies, living in a place full of strong people can inspire me to be in line with good people. "Seeing the sages and seeing you, seeing you and being introspective." I think this sentence is especially suitable for everyone who just entered the school.
The significance of studying abroad is actually very simple, that is, let our future generations no longer study abroad (this sentence is a pun, please carefully recall). Finally, please allow me to encourage everyone with the words of the beloved Premier Zhou Enlai, "Reading for the rise of China!"

There are a few reasons why I love this university:
1) The campus is absolutely stunning. The older style of the buildings give the campus a very intelligent and dignified look. There are also lots of plants and wildlife.
2) The professors (for the most part) are really good at their jobs. They seem to actually care about how you do in the course and try to guide you through the course rather than just tell you the information.
3) The school doesn't get up in your face to participate in things. There are a few clubs who speak to the class before lectures but there is no real harassment. I've only been stopped two times in the past year by someone who wanted me to donate money to a cause.
4) The atmosphere is amazing! Everybody seems to be at a reasonable maturity level. I don't live on campus so I'm not too sure about the atmosphere after class hours but nobody acts like an idiot. It's very different from high school and I feel like I belong.

After last nights display of frosh week echoing across the city I would give this facility zero stars if I could. I ve officially lost all respect for their organization.

In addition, through personal experience, I fully support the unprofessional reviews on here. I will spare the lengthy details but have seen better run programs and more supportive professors elsewhere.

Western truly has the best sense of community. London is the biggest small town! The lecturers really do care about your education and the school itself is rapidly diversifying when it comes to culture, LGBT and indigenous education. I am so thankful to have gotten my education here, it truly is the best student experience!

This is a realistic non-sarcastic review of Western. The faculty are great but not perfect, no school will have perfect faculty. The difference between Western and other schools is that Western tries. We try to treat students fair and we try to offer help when needed. However, those promises are a hit or miss. Biggest reason its not a 5 is the students. Immature and unprepared kids come into this university and turn it into a mess. The university is out to make money and will not refund tuition or invest in student resources until it is a good financial move. This school is arguably more profitable than big public Canadian companies. Beware, Western is much more than the pretty pictures.

Great place to study, interact, grow, and graduate from but as an institution it tends to pander to what is current, in vogue, and politically expedient. I would not recommend this school for those who desire an objective, critically detached, and impartial interface with the academic world as there are schools in Ontario and Canada at large which can better achieve that. Western is clearly agenda-ist, it's faculty largely sectarian and intellectually partisan. In some respects the intelligentsia/academia has given way to the corporate drive and brand emphasis that has made Western more than just a university but also a growing business and this of course has led it to being more open to an ethics of compromise.

Beautiful campus and modern facilities. Known for its business, engineering, medical and law schools as well as its athletic excellence. One of the most expensive universities to attend in the country.

Lost a $5,000 scholarship because my department counsellor forgot to submit my application in time (despite frequent emails from my part). After countless hours trying to figure something out with the administration (who of course refused to help me), I realized the $5,000 was lost forever.

Western may have saved a bit of money denying me my scholarship however, I won't donate a cent after I graduate.
