Tubing was a blast! Great and helpful staff, as well.

While this mountain is smaller than whiteface and gore, West is just as good! It takes a lot for West to shut down a lift so if your worried about wind it probably won't effect your trip. My only issue is due to the grand total of three lifts, there are some mid day what lines. However the chair lifts are incredibly fast and the waits never too bad. West is where I learned to ski and is a wonderful alternative to gore or whiteface.

If you're beginning to learn how to ski or snowboard, then this is the best place to visit. Prices are extemely affordable, trainers/staff are pleasant, the restaurant offers good food. Definitely worth it.

Went tubing here for first time. They were sold out so it was very busy. Friendly people. A lot of fun for our group of eight...both adults and kids.

Trails were great. The triple chair to the summit seem to stop every 100 feet...

Did the first time ever snow tubing and it was a blast

Had a blast! Fell off the tube 2 times because you can go so fast....My friends& I had fun... little bit of a wait on line but other than that it was Great!!!

A great 1400ft (400m) mountain to enjoy skiing and snowboarding! If you live in the Albany area this is an easy 1hr or less drive on I-87 into beautiful Adirondack country.

You can see the runs from the freeway near Queensbury, and as you drive through town toward it. The resort offers a good selection of runs of varying difficulty, the area for kids and for tubing, plus a racing area for training and tournaments that is fun to watch from the chairlift if your visit falls on a race day.

West Mtn Ski Area is a local and easy going outfit, not a big corporation-owned one. You get the hometown vibe from the place, where many visitors are regular locals, so you too get treated like part of one big extended family.

The staff are friendly, all the basic amenities are on hand, including typical food options and facilities. They do keep you honest by scanning your pass now and then in the chairlift line (so keep your tag valid and easy to see).

The runs are well maintained given the uneven weather, with snow making to supplement natural snow cover.

In my experience the place tends to be less crowded compared to some Berkshire outfits like Catamount and Butternut. They actually pick up the phone, and were accommodating when I had to reschedule on short notice. The facilities also have clear signage, which helps new visitors find their way around without having to ask around.

One helpful feature not available at some other resorts: when you buy a 4-hr pass, there is no designated start time, but it starts when you get your pass at the window. So no risk of losing time if you get there late.

Overall, a solid choice for both locals and visitors from out of state and a beautiful mountain, especially on bluebird days!

The mountain is very well-kept and the staff is dedicated to making sure everybody has a great day of skiing or snowboarding. It s wonderful to see how they enforce pandemic rules and keep the lodge clean and ensure everybody is spaced apart when eating. Every single member of the staff is very friendly and helpful and we couldn t have had a better skiing experience !
We hope to get back again before the season is over.

I go here every week and it's really fun and the people are really nice

The place is nice I like the slopes. BUT don t eat at the east slope bar the employees are rude and dont even acknowledge that you sit, you have to call after them like dogs. They came to bring me my bill right away as of theyre trying to throw me out. I wish I had paid cash for my food because they took my card and didnt give it back to me until 20 min later. Gonna have to cancel that card now.

COOL! There are a million activities there such as tubing, skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing.

Not crowded. Good food and services... enjoy skiing with little ones

So much fun but very tiring! Did all the courses besides the black. Staff are wonderful and supportive would recommend to anyone in the area.

Not so big but good place for skiing . Took semi private lessons from friendly guide Kenny. He really explained and taught us basic skiing. He really pushed us to come out off our fear and go higher and higher. They have 4 to 8 hrs rental services. Good cafeteria with good food and beverages options. Skii lifts are also available. Enough parking scape just outside skiing area.

Rates : semi private lessons for 2 people + lift: 150$
Rental : ski + shoes + helmet + poles : 100$

West Mountain is doing alot to update and upgrade there skiing experience they have a nice restaurant, and got a faster chair lift with a foot rest. Unfortunately the terrain isn't as good as gore but during the week night skiing is fun and cheap and close to home. The tubing is also a fun family activity too!

Great place to work and have fun on the slopes the tubing park and restaurant

I went tubing and conditions were not very good. It was just painful. No matter how you sat you would slam into the snowbanks. We only lasted about 30 minutes and walked away with sprained ankles and aching hips. The signage said all paths were open which was not the case. When I asked for a refund there has been no response in two weeks.

They are now working on refund and I can now say that I appreciate the reciprocation. Wish it was more positive at the front desk but managers are actually nice!

The mountain is nice but the bartender with black hair and beard has a bad disposition with customers. He overcharges the under poured
beer and I noticed he crumpled up my tip and threw it away like a piece of trash. Grateful attitude. Should be fired and needs to seek psychological help.

Nice place for a family visit. Pricey food, but a fun atmosphere.

The weather wasn't the best so unfortunately a lot of the trails were closed. The staff was around and the price is really reasonable.

Very Cheap but not a lot of trails. The chair lifts were very fast but were very difficult to get on.

Took the scenic chairlift ride this fall. The view was beautiful. Loved walking on the trails.

While the lodge is nice, the mountain is just to small. Not alot of features just a couple trials. Terrain park has a few nice jumps but that's about it.

Fun place. Doing their 6-week beginner's lessons. Ken Garcia is damn good at being our instructor. And the other trainers around are always ever helpful to help us.
Especially when they see is slide back down from the Bunny slope..

Would definitely recommend this place for anybody interested in learning skiing. Also, they rent out real good equipment for the whole season if needed.

Very icy and firm the night I went. Staff and lifties are not very friendly. Rental staff ok, but not overly helpful and welcoming. Loading zone was full of smooth, shiny ice. Snowboarder next to me had trouble and all the liftie did was yell at them to move over to his side of the lift. What a great help (sarcasm). Its convenient if you are in the area, but there are better mountains.

My boy fil was trying to cop skis to shred gnar. They said they were out of rentals but they were cappin out their jaw. Then we got them cause we pointed out their cap.

We go every year for Snow Tubing..kids loves this place

Great local ski hill with night skiing. Well-stocked bar.

The reason why I m giving this review is because of their COVID regulations and their inability to tell the customers whether or not they sell tickets at the mountain. One receptionist said yes and the other said no. COVID is a serious thing, yes, but operating at 25%.... people go to ski and snowboard not to congregate and hang around the lodge.

Great ski experience on 12/27. The runs were fun, and well groomed even though it was all man made snow. You can tell a lot has been invested in making West a great place to ski. I'll definitely be back!

1st ski lesson ever....feel comfortable to go again soon.

My snowboard was stolen while I was there and some of the staff out on the mountain were really nice and wanted to help us find it but sadly we didn't then my dad noticed a camera aimed directly at where it was stolen from and they told us it wasn't facing the right way. My father knew this wasnt true because he works on cameras so he knows what a rotating camera looks like and what direction a camera is facing. That being said if you see a snowboard that looks like the one in these photos please contact me.

The staff is friendly, the runs are a little short but fun. The lifts are updated and the lines move quickly.

We have been waiting for almost two hours for ski rentals. The staff are rude and the wait is inexcusable.

I understand the weather is something they cannot control but there are several things they can control and they did not control any of those things. There are basically only two runs open and there are several more that could have been added if they made snow when they should have. It is very in accurate to say you have made snow every chance you can. All day we skiied and there was snow being made for literally less than 10 minutes.

Just went for their breakfast special 2-hour lift ticket, and a breakfast sandwich, and coffee. The breakfast sandwich was amazing. I skipped the coffee, and the slopes were reasonably groomed.

Excellent service, clean, and COVID protocols followed well. Will be coming back!!

Small mountain but they pack alot into it, was skeptical when i first arrived due to the size, but was pleasantly surprised

We go back every year to West Mountain! We love tubing here. It is very well organized and lots of fun. There are hills for little ones all the way up to adults. We love going with our kids.

2nd.time here, enjoyable, no issues with staff found everyone nice. Lounge a bit dated but it serves its purpose.

Greatly accesible ski mountain near capital area. Took lessons with friendly staff and the gear to rent was in great condition.

I was expecting bigger hills and double tubes! I also wish that for the price paid that we would of been able to slide more than we did. For two hours we only got to go down the hill maybe 10x!

Tubing here was awesome. I'm not a skier though, so I can't comment there

03/20/2021 What a great place for tubing, skiing, snowboarding and hanging out. Had a great time on Saturday.

Very cheap ski lift tickets. $17 tubing for two hours or 22 for 4 hours.

Snow was great today. Easy parking. Less expensive than other mountains. Less of a drive, too. 4 hour pass was perfect. Essentially no lift lines today. Shorter length of runs was ideal for beginner or someone not looking to beat up their leg muscles.

5 stars because the new ownership (3 yrs ago) has been trying very hard and it shows. They are still investing in improvements (new trails, better lifts, lights & snowmaking) despite last Winter's relative lack of snow. Less than an hour from capitol of NYS, Albany, West is a real asset for the region.

Came to snow tube and had fun. They really ought to fix the smaller ramps and add traction because I kept going through the fence and the workers seemed annoyed since they said it was happening all day. Sorry guys!

Also came the next day for my son to learn how to snowboard. The hill was pretty icy but that's beyond their control due to the weather. His instructor was very nice and explained everything well. I would recommend this mountain for beginners or anyone who doesnt want to be bothered with crowds.

Good wholesome family fun my family any I used to go to west mountain ski resort every single year and go tubing they've added runs so now there's actually 4 different trails to tube down 3 for faster single body tube passes and 1 for multi person passes. The ski runs are short because it Is such a small mountain. Personally I've slways referred to it as west hill but I'll allow you to decide for yourself

Coming from NJ for a ski race, I found West Mountain to be a surprising little mountain. There's not a ton of trails, but the vert was awesome. Their race hill caught me off guard; it was fun, technical, and fast. The other trails as a warm up was great too. Even at Killington I felt like I couldn't open up my GS ski and let them run. Not what I expected from a small place.

My family and I drove from CT because we like that area and figured that we can visit Lake George and go skiing over a long weekend. My daughters, 12 & 13, are pretty inexperienced skiers. We started them last year at Yawgoo Valley in RI, then went to Thunder Ridge in NY. They seemed to do okay at both locations, so we thought we would go to West Mountain, rather than Gore, because it seemed easier and lighter on the pocketbook since we aren't necessarily avid in the sport quite yet. My husband and I looked at the trails ahead of time to make sure there were plenty of green trails for the kids, since that is where we were planning to spend most of the day. For those in similar situations as me, please be advised that the green trails are not easy at West Mountain. Maybe if you are more experienced they are easy, but for the average folk, they are pretty steep and can be icy, also, several of them merge without really knowing which one is green and blue...such as Frolic (which is very much like a blue, but listed as green on the trail map) and Chute which takes you first down Frolic, then over to Alley which is blue. Inchworm, is a very green trail, or at least until you get back over to Frolic and then The Face. From my experience at this ski resort, many of the green trails should be categorized as blue, which makes it very difficult to get your children to ski down if they are relatively new to skiing. Unfortunately, we do not plan to return to this location very soon. Also, be sure to check the hours of operation, even on a long holiday weekend, such as President's Day, where you might think the hours would be a little longer. The resort still closed at 4:30 pm on Sunday; therefore, we were not able to utilize all 8 hours that we paid for because we did not get there exactly at 8:30 am with ski rentals all ready to go. Overall, my husband and I had a good time when we weren't back and forth with the kids who were sitting in the lodge since they were too afraid of the trails.

Lost most of the day it seemed waiting in line and totally sucked the fun out of the experience. After all the time waiting couldn't even get the right sized shoes and skis.. Thank goodness they had decent drink specials but even so the lines were very long and the staff was frantic. Poorly organized if you want to rent. Nice mountain but doubt we'd be coming back

This is a great place for the whole family. We ve never done anything snow related until this trip. We only did the tubing (as first timers). The kids loved it. We went from the lower lever ramps to the higher level. Very friendly staff. This place has a great cafeteria to grab a bite. Very welcoming.

This is a nice mountain for family skiing. Great after school ski programs and lessons. Lounge and eatery are great to hang and watch the kids play with a nice fire pit outside.
