The actual park itself is not great. Your stuck in a car travelling 3mph, waiting for everyone ahead of you to move forward. The other stuff, such as the sea lion show and the reptile area makes up for the lack of animals and traffic jams

We were last at West Midland Safari park a couple ...

We were last at West Midland Safari park a couple of years ago, and in that time there has been some noticeable work done on some of the grounds. The park is very pleasant, and nicely laid out, with areas where you have to have your windows closed spilt apart by areas where you can open your windows. If your car has good air conditioning, this is not overly important. But if your car lacks this feature, or perhaps your compressor has blown and so you can not make use of this wonder of science and technology... It is very welcome.

The beginning of the park takes you past some amazing rhinos that, even though they tend to keep their distance from the cars, are quite imposing. Make sure you have your camera ready! There is quite a severe hill climb during this section, and every time we have visited there has been the unmistakable scent of burning clutch in the air.

A highlight of the lion enclosure is the off-road section. Certainly not ideal for all cars, but it isn't "4x4 Off-Roader" level, just a loose surface which takes a slightly different route to the main road. On our most recent visit, it was incredibly hot, and so the lion has all retreated to the boundary fence to enjoy the shade it offers them. The off-road section takes you much closer to this fence, and so on this particular day it meant being able to see the lions which were barely visible to people on the road road.

You do have to be careful with feeding the animals, particularly with younger children. But the animals are generally very friendly and in some cases demonstrate a great deal of patience. Although the giraffes didn't always want to wait for the food to be outside of the cars before they were eating it.

There is a quite impressive entertainment park with a number of rides and stands. The parking area is large, with a lot of hard-standing parking, and plenty of overflow parking on the grass areas. There are food stalls, and an eating area. There are also quite good toilet facilities, including changing facilities. When we arrived, a couple of the toilet stalls were decidedly not fit for use. We walked across to the information and first-aid centre to report this issue, and by the time we had been round the park and needed to use the toilets again they were sparkling. The take away from this is that the toilet facilities are checked regularly (like many places they display a time check sheet for cleaners to sign), but if there is a problem, you just need to let them know.

West Midland Safari Park is a good day out for the family, and whilst other parks (Woburn comes to mind) might be more developed, West Midland is under constant development and expansion. So it is definitely worth going back periodically to see what has changed. Plus when you have paid for entry to the park, you get a ticket for free re-entry during the same season (the season ends early in November), on any day the park is open, except Bank Holidays, and not for the Fireworks Festival.

Bit on the expensive side, especially since you don't know what you'll see up close. There's no monkeys, elephants are visible only with binoculars, consider yourself lucky if you catch a glimpse of a lion and seeing a tiger is like finding a unicorn!

Really nice Safari Park. Enjoyed it a lot. As you start the safari people tend to stay in single queue as they are excited to see the animals and feed them or because the animals are on their side of the road. I did the same... After a while you'll realize that its better to utilize the two lanes and you'll get the opportunity to feed the same animals again anyway when you finish the first part of the safari. Disposable golves would handy to keep in the car and sanitisers as well. Start with feeding the small deers if you are scared and then grauduate to the bigger ones!

We visited with the school for a visit with santa. The kids really enjoyed it. We got a bit lost looking for the lemur area as you have to go past the closed rides area, it could do with some better signage for the winter time. They loved visiting Santa and choosing a good quality gift .

Love love love this place! We have been with our son since he was about 6 months old and it just keeps getting better!!
The facilities are great, staff are helpful and knowledgeable, the shows are brilliant and the range of animals is good. The experience of having a giraffe walk within a foot past your car and to see your child's face is just immense!
The cost is reasonable for the experience. The special events that get put on ie Santa safari and the Halloween event were also brilliant and really well planned/organised!
I will definitely be visiting the park again soon!

Great day out, the safari is OK, although the lions and tigers can be difficult to see, but that's not the parks fault.

There is a nice theme park and also some other attractions for after the safari ride.

My kids love it there and we go a couple of times a year

This was my first experience of a safari park and I was certainly not disappointed. I came here with my girlfriend, her friend and her boyfriend and we went in the one car. The journey around the park in a car takes roughly one hour give or take 10-15 minutes, depending on how active the animals are and how long you spend looking at/patting each animal. Please bare in mind that some of the animals will want to stick their heads in your car and slobber all over you if you feed them. Some of the larger animals will even create a blockade if you're not careful. My personal favourites were the zebras and camels as they seem quite happy taking food from your hand. After the drive round we went for a walk through the other animal areas such as the meerkats, rainbow lorikeets etc. The sea lion show was rather cute and definitely worth a visit. If you've not been here before make sure you add it to your list as it's well worth it.

Nice family day out with plenty of things to see and do. Lots of nice places to sit and have a picnic however the cost of food and snacks are reasonably priced. Driving through the safari itself was interesting and is a different way to view these animals but I wonder if it actually good for them. I witnessed cars revving their engines at the animals to try and make them do things, a man drove past a camel wound down his window and pulled the animals tail before driving off and another individual who thought it would be funny to throw feed deliberately into a deers face. I hope the instances I whitnessed are not the norm but maybe due to being a busy day in the summer holidays. I only hope there were more staff around to escort these individuals off the park because the animals should not be subjected to this.

Way overcrowded, it took us 3 hours to drive around in effectively peek hour traffic. The animals we did see though we're beautiful. Should really reduce the maximum amount of concurrent visitors as too not spook animals and to make individual experiences better. The walk around park was pretty good, we especially liked the Tanooki friendly animal presentation!

Great day out! A huge collection of animals in the park which the kids loved. Added bonus of a small theme park / fairground rides and other attractions. I'd avoid on bank holidays but would definitely return at a quieter time.

Fantastic place, loads to see. Nice theme park too. I went in the extreme heatwave summer 2018 so struggled but loved it. Been to many other safaris in the UK. Families would love these places. I would strongly recommend to take loads of home made food and fruits and drinks to save tons of money. Enjoy

A beautiful beautiful beautiful Safari experience. This place was on our list for my two year old niece. But it was so lovely that we enjoyed it more than the toddler. Lovely experience of feeding the giraffes, Zebras, watching white Tigers, and a bunch of white Lions was a rare site. From Rhino's to elephants to camels to types of deers to a lovely sea lion show. Plus a nice set-up of adventure rides this place has it all. A lovely place to visit with your family n kids. I won't miss on the opportunity if I get another chance to visit this place.

We visited during the week so thankfully it wasn't too busy, though only one entry booth was open so even on a quiet day we had to queue for some time. The Safari is excellent fun, you can get up close to quite a few of the animals, though thankfuly the Lions etc were a bit further away!!
The Safari takes about 75 mins, make you buy some animal food, the Giraffe's are very friendly.Driving through the park feels an unhurried experience, if you want to pull over for some better photo opertunities you can do so.
After driving through the Safari you park up at one of the many car-parks where you can visit the Leisure Park which as well as the oligatory pay-as-you-go rides has a respetable variety of animals on show, Penguins, Hippos, a small but 'well stocked' Reptile zone with some frightening looking Snakes and Crocs, as well as goats, Meer Cats, Lemurs etc.
Overall a very pleasant afternoon out.

Amazing. Book the tour for the safari early in the day then go around in your own car after throughout the day. The tour is superb it's great to hear the stories of the individual animals and feed giraffes straight from the bus. The drivers know so much it really makes a huge difference to see it with them first.

Great value for money. Between the Safari and the non-Safari activities you'll want a whole day to spend here. The staff doing the talks were informative and entertaining. Great range of activities for all ages.
