What did they do for 1600.00

I went to Wesley's ER in Derby. It was a Saturday afternoon in February and for the last 36 hours I had been throwing up and had diarrhea they were not busy which was nice and I got to a treatment room almost immediately. I told my symptoms to the nurse or PA they left and after a while the doctor came in and told him the symptoms again. They drew blood and sent it to lab they got it back the doctor explained that I have a bacterial infection and basically it has to run its course. He didn't prescribe an antibiotic saying with the other meds I take it would be worse for me. He prescribed a pain reliever and signed me out.

I was there maybe 2 hours and saw the doctor a total of maybe 15 or 20 minutes.

This week 2 months later I receive first a bill from the doctor for 475.00 and a bill from the ER for 1612.00. This after they made over 4000 of insurance adjustments. I realize that ER are more expense than doctor visits but how can it cost that much when there was no really urgent care.

I would have talked to customer service or complaints but I had no luck finding a contact.

I have had serious surgeries at Wesley over the years and they haven't been this expensive

If I could give negative stars I would. From rude staff to incompetent staff training new staff to be less effective more incompetent staff..... No one should ever come here especially to have a baby. If your a father you will be treated like you don't matter. Worst hospital experience ever....

I loved all the nurses, and I liked that they had a Covid 19 wing. I got my appendix taken out, and everyone was amazing. Although, I am a kid and I went to the adult emergency room because the kids one doesn't open until about 2:00, it would be nice if they changed the hours! Overall, service is great! 5 stars and a half! :)

Our son has autism and and seizures. It was time for another EEG and like always our son was afraid of being put out for the test but a amazing nurse named Lori sat with him the whole time and Dr. Yagnik was fantastic at explaining everything to his. All the staff that helped with his EEG to where very friendly and helpful!

My wife and I want to express our sincere appreciation to 2 outstanding persons on the cath lab floor. Nurse Betty RN was kind, efficient, and very professional. Deb who greeted us when we came in assisted my wife. Deb checked several times and updated my wife on the status of the heart cath test and then let her know immediately when it was completed. This was greatly appreciated and helped my wife very much. Deb had a calming effect for my wife.

I had the greatest experience at Wesley hospital. The nurses were awesome and hardworking. The doctors were marvelous and concerned. I would recommend anyone to go to Wesley hospital . I had the best experience in my life. Thanks healthcare crew in Wesley including dietary and housekeeping. God bless you all abundantly for all that you guys do. You are naturals

Less than 20 from time of walking in until getting discharged. Dr and nursing staff so fast, I had to wait to get registration finished so I could walk out with my discharge paperwork. Great job from a care standpoint AND organizational standpoint. 34 years in the medical field...I am simply inspired.

From the moment my surgery appointment was made each person gave extra care and attention to the details. They were efficient in the way they check you in and guide you through the process.
I felt cared for before, during ands after my surgery. Caring and kind nurses and docs.

Had a grandson go in for surgery. The PICU is awesome, but the regular ped floor is the worse I have ever seen. Had to wait hours for his food and had to wait hours for his pain meds. His monitor came off and as of now have not seen anyone to check on him and it's been 4 hours. Have called several times and after an hour still no show. The only reason I am giving three stars is because of PICU otherwise it would be a 1.

I have never been to this facility for any reason. I ve never been to Wichita.

They have repeatedly treated another patient who has the same first name, last name, and DoB as I have.

Over the past few years, they have routinely submitted erroneous claims to my insurance provider for this other patient. Apparently they can select my insurance information from a database even though I ve never been to this facility and my insurance information has never been presented to them.

Each time it s happened, I ve called them for resolution per my insurance provider s instruction. It s always incredibly difficult to reach an actual human. I have spoken with multiple employees. They usually refuse to reverse the erroneous claim and instruct me to go back to my insurance provider.

This started in 2015. Errors keep happening.

Their employees clearly have no attention for detail as they are making essentially the same error over and over even though they ve been repeatedly notified of the error.

I was given directions on how to get to my destination and they were the wrong directions. I was sent to an entrance after 7 pm that was closed and I had to enter the building thru the ER. Then the ER staff sent me to the wrong location and I had to walk thru a dark hallway to get to my destination.

I absolutely hate coming here! They are never on time. The surgeon should of been in about 8 we got there at 7. We waited for more than 12.hours just for the surgeon to even have time. Not all staff in very friendly. Not having friendly nurses nor doctors that know how to schedule there patients is NOT okay.

The nurses and aides on the 10th floor of building 4 were the best. They pushed me to do the things I needed to get better. I was able to go home 4 days after spinal fusion surgery walking and climbing stairs without a walker or assistance. Then within a week I was cooking, doing laundry and light housework. I'm so glad that T was my nurse for 3 days in a row she came to know me and could read how far she could push me to get me well.

My 93 yo father broke his hip. I got the call and met him in the ER. The customer experience could not have been better. It seemed like every 30 minutes another staff member would brief me. The surgeon himself was in the loop even before leaving the ER. Super accessibility. Tops!!

Good care great people. They saw my husband for Pre-OP and answered all questions. When he had some chest discomfort he went right to ER and they were great also. It's the people that make the difference and Wesley has the people and the Equipment. Thanks guys.

Worst experience ever. Nurse doesn t know how to do IV, got blood everywhere and didn t clean it up. My mom had to clean it up. They had promised me to see an obgyn when I was there and then didn t let me, the two other nurses were rude and I will never go there again.

Very poor experience at Wesley children's hospital not happy with them at all the hospital was way better 8yrs ago for my daughter but not now they sent her home in worse shape than what she came in with.... I highly do not recommend bring ur infants here to seek medical attention... The nurse's and doctors don't do there job and don't communicate during shift change and neglect to relay the messages of meds that need to be give my daughter waited one whole shift change to receive meds for her reflux ... Very unhappy

Overall an A+, though, in hindsight, I wasn't prescribed anything for the pain....
I don't know the position he holds at the hospital but, Stan Kolbeck was very kind and attentive. I was in there for a dye test for my port-a-cath the first day and he said he would come out and see me in the waiting area when I came in for surgery the next day.
He went out of his way to come out to the waiting area, before my surgery the next day, like he said he would, and it was very reassuring.

$2,012 just to look at a spider bite and prescribe some medication that would be more than 50x cheaper to buy yourself. If I were to choose the spider bite, or go to Wesley, I'd choose the spider bite.

Being septic with infection, kidney failure and body shutting down, the miracle workers in ICU and later Cardiac at Wesley Medical Center nursed me back for discharge. I have been to all other hospitals in ICT over the years however, the caring, nurturing culture of Wesley Medical is by far the best. By the grace of our creator, I'm given a new lease on life with help of the doctors and nurses of Wesley Medical Center.

The staff at Wesley were ALL awesome, from the temperature check, registration, wheelchair to endoscopy, the ENTIRE staff in the endoscopy section (a special shout out to Dr. Zayat and the head nurse, to the return to the car, were all incredibly patient and courteous.

Even though we were there most of the day and made a few trips back and forth on the tower crosswalk between buildings,, the staff could not have been more pleasant. Which helped during the procedures. Bedside manner is a HUGH plus. Thank you.

My mother had a stroke and the hospital staff has been so bad about communication. The doctors say they will call then they don t. The case workers say they will update me then they don t. I tried giving some important insurance documents to the nurse and she left them in my moms room for almost two weeks and I m just now finding out. My mother seems like an after thought at this place. They have been telling me for almost three days that she is going to be moved to an in patient facility but have cancelled that days in a row and of course there has been no notification to family. Every time they moved my mom in the hospital I had to find out after I arrived and showed up in someone else s room. Very disappointed. The only good thing I experienced at Wesley is the nurses in the neuro ICU. Liz was an amazing nurse and Her kindness was unmatched. THANK YOU WESLEY FOR MAKING MY MOMS MEDICAL EMERGENCY EVEN WORSE.

Had to go in for a full hysterectomy, all of the staff in pre-op was amazing, the surgical team all came in before my procedure to check on me, the anesthesiology department were absolutely top notch and amazing - All of those people get five stars because the surgery couldn t have went as well as it did without them. I had a pretty routine surgery but without their level of care and commitment to make sure that I could handle this surgery was phenomenal.

I did have an issue with my post-op recovery, however and I deducted one star but I wish that I could give that no stars because that was pretty dismal. After I was taken to a room, I really needed to pee. She assisted me to the bathroom but then immediately left. I got done, made it back to my bed and she hooked my legs up to the compression massage things. I was told to order lunch and I did. While waiting for lunch, my machines started beeping, 20 minutes later and they were still beeping. I had pressed the call button a couple of times and she never came. The kitchen staff and my boyfriend had to figure out how to stop it (it was because she didn t have my blood pressure cuff on properly).
Anyway, I eat and then I need to go pee again. Pressed the call button, waited 10 minutes, pressed it again. After 30 more minutes of holding my urine and my boyfriend saying would you like for me to go find her? I finally let him. This time, she undid my leg cuffs and I went to the bathroom alone.
Mind you, I m still under the influence of anesthesia, very dizzy and have had major surgery with internal organs removed, that would be a fall risk.
In fact, I had a fall risk bracelet on. Her level of care was nonexistent.
Went to pee, got back to bed, got the leg cuffs back on and decided to nap.
Woke up 45 minutes later, needing to pee again. Again, she never came when I pressed the button, waited 20 minutes. Had my boyfriend just undo the leg cuffs, he took me to the bathroom and we decided then that it would just be best to go home since I wasn t receiving any care there. I would be better at home.
Absolutely no help.
I still had EKG tabs stuck on me when I got home, I was pretty surprised that she didn t let me just walk out of there with the IV still in my hand.
He went to find her and it was just oh ok, I ll be in a second.
She was quick to get me out of there. I can give her that.

Every one of my care team professionals were amazing! I ve never seen such kind, caring and compassionate professionals. They listened to my concerns and encouraged me to reach my goals. I would highly recommend Wesley Medical Center and Dr Whitaker!

Everyone from admissions to radiology was exceptional. The only disappointing thing for me was I requested the large circumference MRI machine due to severe claustrophobia and did not receive it therefore my shoulder images had to be rescheduled which causes me to miss more work time and having to pay an additional copay.

My son went to the central and hillside er for chest pain and trouble breathing... he was there over four hours with out any word on how he was or anything!!! He txt me he was done and then I spend the next two hours looking for him, not knowing if they gave him pain meds or anything. I called there to find out if he might have been waiting in a dead zone for his phone and kept getting switched to different people then finally someone tells me they kick then out as soon as they are dismissed, without knowing if he had a ride or anything!!! I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS B.S. NO CALL FOR IT

The staff here was great. Intelligent. Did everything they could to help me. To diagnose my illness. They treated me with such concern and care. Treated me with modesty and humility. When I came out of my coma I got very sick. I was a mess from head to toe. The staff there didn't gross out. They made me not feel embarrassed. The nurses there painted my nails and braided my hair. (I was in there sick for a long time.) One time a nurse had me sitting in a wrong position and I heard the head nurse quite severely scold her and brought her in and showed her HOW I should have been seated. (it was important to me condition.) Bottom line, they didn't diagnose me. They were humble and wonderful when they discharged me. They gave my parents perfect precise instructions and urged me to find another hospital. They were very apologetic and I have fond, loving memories of their care to this day. Would love to go back and see them.

I had surgery for a detached retina in my right on November 25, 2013 at Wesley medical center. The nurses were great and helped me understand everything and Dr kumar Dalla was also very nice from vitreo- Retinal consultants. Great experience. Want to give a big thanks to the pre op nurses and Dr Dalla for there hard work every day.

Apparently the nurses don't know how to read a chart to inform a patient of things they are and aren't supposed to do because of their injury. Not informing the patients about their surgeries and then asking family members about why they need to do certain things like position their bed. Very unprofessional did not go through with things they said they were going to and I am positive that there have been HIPPA violations. If I can help it I'll never see this place again.

Every single staff member has been absolutely amazing during my delivery and postpartum care. They have answered my questions, listened without judgement and educated me on tips/tricks for being a new parent. They ve helped care for my incision site and over all made the whole process not as scary. I couldn t be more thankful than I am for this team and group. Thank you for being there for the clients.

Regarding one of your nursing recruiters, Jennifer...

Regarding one of your nursing recruiters, Jennifer Carr. She contacted me regarding a position I had applied for. She immediately was extremely rude and insulting regarding my previous work experience and I felt she was calling to berate me for applying for a job that I was apparently unqualified for. This was extremely uncalled for, and completely unappreciated. Then she continues to talk to me and see if I would be interested in working in acute care on a med-surg unit. As if I would want anything to do with her or your facility after how she spoke to me? I am very unhappy with how a woman who has never once met me or spoke to me before could be so rude. What blows my mind is that I was contacted 3 times by her before I could call her back, as if it was that important that she needed to speak with me directly to chastise me for applying. I hope this gets to the right person, because this has put a nasty taste in my mouth for Wesley, and I will be very vocal to anyone who asks me my opinion on your hospital. No wonder your nursing staff is short staffed. I would never want to work in a place where the applicants are treated so badly, and I can only assume how badly the employees are treated. I hope this is addressed, so that professional nurses in the future do not have to be belittled by your recruitment staff.

Check in was fast. Was taken to a front room to begin examination then after a bit taken to an actual room. After having blood drawn and urine sample waited a normal time for results. Dr arrived with news at 10:15pm then came back a few minutes later to let me know my what obgyn on call said regarding my issue and sure enough she was back by within a few minutes. Said she would get me on my way. Over an hour passed and had to call a nurse in to ask if they were waiting on something else and why no one has come in since dr had been by. Nurse informed me that they were waiting on the call from obgyn which I informed her the dr already stopped and told me he called and spoke to her. Nurse said oh, then waiting on paperwork to be printed . I asked that it takes over an hour for paperwork? And she hesitated to respond and said they have to wait on it from dr. I asked how long longer and she said 10-30 minutes (this was at 11:15). We arrived about 9pm just to leave about 12:30 am for a visit that should have been an hour and a half tops but instead waited for an iPad to be signed- no paperwork like the nurse said. No wonder why rooms were filled, if the ending service to discharge was as prompt as the initial service received people could be in and out in better timing.

Each and every person from receptionist, nurses to doctors was a complete professional and treated me as if I were their only case in the entire area. I do truly love the entire staff. I believe the group of people I worked with in the wound care unit are without a doubt my favorite. They go out of their way to assure you are well taken care of.

The best hospital ever! The nurses in bldg. 4, 8th floor (Tower 8) are kind and caring. The nurses found a rollaway for me to sleep on so I could stay with my sister. The nurses care for the patient and the patients family. We were kept informed of my sisters progress. Linda and Jay are the best. They would not give up on her. They encouraged her. They kept her pain under control. Thank you Linda and Jay.

As far as nursing care, it was very good, timely with changing IV fluids, & medications. The only thing I needed was to be brought the toothbrush & toothpaste to brush teeth the 2nd. day after surgery. Also first meal after surgery/recovery was so much food and went to trash; serving something light be good (a suggestion).

De Golden in the Peds er is very pushy and didn t even come into the room last time my daughter had her ng tube replaced. Instead he sent a nurse in to ask when I wanted her gtube surgery despite me telling him several other times we were not going that route. The staff that day was extremely rude and wouldn t even call down picu when I asked for them to place the ngtube. I m not sure I will come back for my daughters care as I feel like not only the Peds er but other aspects of the hospital has failed to give my daughter the care she deserves.

Watched a guy sit in the waiting room after he fell off a building. His knee was bent the wrong way and foot twisted sideways. This poor guy had to wait 25 excruciating minutes while they re calling in the endless stream of diabetic WallMart-Americans before him. Was pretty surreal watching staff ignore/walk past him until one worker dude who didn t even work in the EW said he d get help and then wheeled him out shorty after. Also, to the lady who gave that guy a butterscotch candy from your purse, God bless- you re a saint.

Totally ridiculous that more entrances are not open. We ended up walking clear around the building and finally saw an employee coming to a door and she let us in. The rest of the time I was there for my appointment went fantastically. I wish I could give 5 stars just for the care. More entrances need to be opened for people to enter. We are not from Wichita and had no idea where we were going. We were advised to go to the Main Entrance, only to find it wasn't open. I understand Covid is a factor, but for the size of the hospital I would think you could have more entrances open and more persons to take Temps.

You should have an easier way for patients to get their test results besides the MyHealthONE app or waiting 7-10 business days. The MyHealthONE looks like they could be anyone s results and in order for me to get paid for the time I will be off work and home with my son I need something more than that app that is very hard to read and I can t even screenshot and have is name and the results together. Also the doctor who seen my son Saturday didn t even know the difference between a PCR and a rapid test and then the person at the entrance expected me to put a mask on my one year old! I am very disappointed in this hospital and they way things are being handled covid! We were also told the results would be back in 3 days and you only text if they are positive that if we don t hear anything after 3 days that means they were negative, so after 3 days and my son seeming like he was getting because we were also told it was just a kids wither crud (which I had to push for and ask for him to be tested for covid) we sent him back to daycare and we returned to work assuming the test was negative because of what we were told by your staff then we got the call that he was positive after he had already been to daycare. You need to change your protocol and make sure your staff is informing patients that it can be up to 5 days for results to be back and to quarantine until they are back and make sure you are calling even if they are negative. Poor communication, wording, protocol!

I recently gave birth to my second child at Wesley Labor and Delivery and BOTH times we had such amazing nurses and doctors to care for us. They kept my husband and I in the loop during each check and explained every procedure and policy to us along the way. After delivery when we were staying in the postpartum recovery rooms everyone we encountered from nurses to the cleaning staff were so kind and attentive and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed, even if it wasn't specifically their job. For example, the cleaning staff always offered to refill my water any time they saw it was empty and nursing always made sure to ask my husband if he had any questions or needed anything while checking myself and the baby during our stay. My family and I are so appreciative of the care we received at Wesley!

My wife and I aren't familiar with Wesley Hospital in the center of Wichita. Thankfully Wesley provides a guide, she walked us to the prep room. Would had been scary to be on our own to navigate those hallways! We where treated with smiles from everyone. All so pleasant while completing their task while getting me ready for surgery. From the paperwork trail to preparation before being rolled into surgery, each person was light hearted, keeping me and my wife calm. Even the two ladies wheeling me out to our car was so pleasant. Thanks, all of you!!

I loved the modern & clean look throughout the entire facility. From my pre op appointment days earlier and throughout my procedure and hospital stay, everyone was friendly and helpful. I felt was treated as if I was the only patient & they didn t give up until I was comfortable. The nurses were amazing, listened & asked questions & kept in contact with my doctor until I was comfortable. My family was well updated & cared for throughout the entire process.

Second time I've been in for a real problem and the only thing they can seem to do for me is a pregnancy test. I had PID, they told me "You're not pregnant, it's just your period." I had to go to campus health to even get a pelvic exam. Today I have been vomiting since 3:30am. I go in before 11 and after meds that didnt work, I was still vomiting. It was after 1pm when they came in and told me I wasnt pregnant and didnt have a uti but they would now like to give me an iv, more meds and do more tests. I left after PA Kyrie told me that it took so long because I "wasnt the only one on this floor and I had to get to 5 people before you." Great bedside manners!

My experience was mixed. I had my surgery scheduled for July 25 at 5:30a.m. When my wife and I arrived for check in, we learned that the check in time had been moved to 9:30 a.m.. We were surprised to find that I had received one attempted notification the day before with no voicemail or followup call(s). To us this was a significant lack of follow through. However, when we reported at 9:30a.m., we received extraordinary care and the procedure went very well.

My wife was close to death but THE Staff at Wesley Hospital were so personable and professional that within days, my wife was responding with medications and good oxygen levels with great ease....She has N STAGE COPD! But soon went home and though several Doctors and Interns were paid professionally they were very kind and helpful in explaining all procedures that she would encounter!! Thank you for your help and Professional Care for my wife!!

Terrible! I used to love this hospital, until the other day when I was sent there from work having some flank pain. I'm unfortunately a frequent flyer with kidney stones so I just knew that's what it was. The "doctor" told me that there was absolutely nothing on my CT scan and there was no way it was a stone. The next day I end up passing out at my home, rushed by ambulance to another local hospital only to find that I have numerous stones in both kidneys, am currently passing 3-4 of them, and I was admitted because my pain is so terrible I can barely go to the bathroom alone. Never again will I go to that terrible place.

I have already posted a review on Yelp and am waiting for a call from the hospital. I was admitted on October 1st with a head trauma and brain bleed. While in the trauma ICU apparently fell two other times causing more injury. Son who s a surgical RN flew in after hearing about falls. While in the hospital a nurse manager told us that they were doing a review and would talk to us the next day, That never happened. On day before release was moved to a regular room and that room had an uncleared suction bottle on the wall with blood and mucus and the nurse call button was not working. My son stated that he wonder what else was not cleaned. After discharge never had a follow up call from the hospital. Was at this hospital for surgery about a year ago and had some minor issues with treatment. After discharge sent two emails with no response. Could write more but I guess you can see the problems. Seems no one cares.

My husband had a stroke in Dec of 2019. Building 1 3rd floor was where he ended up. Certain nurses on that floor were the rudest nurses i have every came in contact with . this was a rather devastating stroke. I would have thought those nurses would have a better more understanding additude toward the family. I shouldnt even give theses certain nurses on this floor a 1 star!!! Also could NEVER get ahold of a nurse on the phone in the evening. Phone number they gave me was on a recording. So theses nurses never had to deal with a family member in the evenings when the family needs to know if there loved ones are resting .No communication what so ever with the doctors on the floor either. This was a Frustrating hospital to deal with. Dont even get me started with the ER. Steer clear

My husband had excellent care. I am VERY concerned about the cleaning that happens every day. I saw some pretty disturbing things in the ICU. The cleaning lady cleaned the toilet then the wall, then then hand rails all with the same wrag in that order.. luckily I wasn't the only person who saw that a nurse also seen it and did let the floor nurse know. We were in the hospital for 16 days. Only saw 1 person actually cleaning in a safe way.. so sad people take short cuts in a hospital where things need to be extra clean...

Everything went very well, the staff were all great! The only issue we had was my nurse kept insisting that my husband take my scripts to the nearest CVS pharmacy, but by the time I got discharged and we got to the pharmacy it was closed, so I went home without my hormones or pain medications and we live an hour away. I had to have someone go pick them up for me the next day and drive them down to Winfield. Also, from what the doctor said I thought they were going to put a hormone patch on me before I left, but that never happened either.

I was in the hospital for an emergency on my left eye. Absolutely everyone My daughter and I came in contact with was fantastic. They were there with answers to questions, or help with anything. I will recommend Wesley medical center to everyone. A fabulous experience.

My sister's surgical procedures have been scheduled, rescheduled, bumped back, bumped up with little to no notice. It's ridiculous. This is causing stress upon stress. Also, since they are fasting type of procedures for the latest she hasn't had anything to eat for more than a day and a half. All we get is one excuse after a other.
