I want to give a big shout-out to Garret at Wellma...

I want to give a big shout-out to Garret at Wellmark! I was having trouble navigating the Wellmark website and Garret answered my call for help. I needed to complete my transaction today, to pay for my mother's insurance. The steps to set up the necessary account, userid and password for her, but not knowing whether to use her's or my info as POA, was pushing me closer to total freakout. Garret was so amazing and patient and knowledgeable and offered perfect instructions to assist me. I completed my mission and I have to tell Wellmark that they have a great customer service champion in their website navigator, Garret. Just saying, he represents your company image in a very favorable way. I hope he is recognized for the important role he is filling.

I got stuck under Wellmark with a new employer and...

I got stuck under Wellmark with a new employer and thus far, every experience has been terrible. Two claims were filed wrong; they should have been preventative care visits that are covered once per year but I was charged on both. Called in in January to resolve this after receiving a bill - they stated it would be looked into and I'd receive a call back. Never received a call back but did receive a second bill the following month.. called again; was told it was still being researched.. billed again in March; called back in and was again told it was being looked into and that Unitypoint would be called to hold my billing - now here we are FOUR MONTHS later and I received a final notice from Unitypoint threatening to send me to collections if I don't pay something that shouldn't have even been charged in the first place.

I called and spoke with a Christina who seemed so inconvenienced by me wanting her assistance on THEIR mistake. She states that it's still being looked into.. FOUR months for a screw up on their end to be fixed. This is ridiculous!

Terrible experience to start off on under a new provider and definitely need better training in their customer service.

Offices are close on the weekend so you can t contact any body and their app doesn t work, makes it pointless to have it. Why wouldn t they fix the app if there is no other way to get information. Terrible customer service.

Poor communication.

They are only open during the day (news flash Wellmark, some of us work during the day and cannot spend an hour calling you on the phone).

Very disappointed with service. I have a new canc...

Very disappointed with service. I have a new cancer diagnoses and had to cancel my scheduled scans because Wellmark needs 15 days to approve the scans. I have been a nurse for 30 years and hope I have never made my patients feel as helpless and mistreated as Wellmark has.

My review is of this particular Wellmark location from the perspective of a contractor, not a review of Wellmark in general or an isolated customer service experience.

This is a very secure facility, and every time I have to work with them it is always a great experience. Staff are friendly and everyone is very coordinated so everything always runs very smoothly. It is obvious that a lot of thought and effort go into operations at this facility.

I have been working with BCBS of Iowa on a claim from DECEMBER 2017!!! They are blaming the provider and the provider is blaming them. I just want the claim handled and any monies refunded I have paid the provider. As a prior claims processor for an insurance agency, this is UNACCEPTABLE!! I am now being told - for the first time - they requested an adjustment from the provider in 2017. I call BS! Never have I ever heard a word about this nor has the provider. The first time the provider received a request to refund the original payment was 4/23 and the amount they told me DOES NOT match what they asked back from the provider. SOMETHING IS FISHY!!! A common insured would not have gone to great lengths to insure that BCBS did not pay the provider that had already been paid. I know how it affects my employers claims ratios and rates. That is why I was adamant about helping get the claims processed correctly for my injuries. Now, I have been told they are still working on it. Researching it further. Blah, blah, blah!

Note to Self: In the future, if anything like this happens to you, do not try to help. Just let the providers get paid twice and walk away!!

Just spent the last 17 months with multiple health issues including cancer and never had a single issue with getting the bills paid. Anytime I had a question they went out of their way to help me.

Do not do business with this company, in a group through your employer or in any way. Having been a BC/BS customer from birth and Welmark customer from 1985 -2013 It is shocking to see how corrupt this company has become in an effort to help the far right wing corporate criminals with an assist in forcing problems with the ACA in Iowa. Truly Shameful.

Very very disappointed. I recently just spent almost $7,000 on a surgery. Met my deductible and out of pocket max. I ve gone to physical therapy and have done everything asked. Now I ve been ordered to get a custom brace that fits my knee for when I get back into sports. HOWEVER, since I am not overly obese, anorexic, or have a bowed leg, I am told I have to cover the whole cost of the brace (roughly $1500). That s extremely dissapointing that an insurance company would basically punish you for being healthy. It s my final step to recovery and preventing it for potentially happening again, and I find out that they won t cover it. So if you re thinking about using this insurance, make sure you read all the fine print and details thoroughly or you may find yourself in a situation like this.

WARNING TO ALL. WARNING TO ALL. WARNING TO ALL. WARNING TO ALL. Recently I had to go on disability. I payed every Doctor and Hospital bill I had. At least I thought. My local Hospital said I had a bill for over 5000 dollars. As I looked into it I found out it was for hernia surgery back in 2011. At the time I had B.C.B.S. at work. They had declined it saying it may have been work related. IT WAS NOT WORK RELATED. Come to find out the reason I never heard of it is because THEY sent my appeal to the wrong address. They admit they did not have the correct address. Sense it was over 18 month old they refuse to pay it. Now because they had the wrong address I am stuck with this bill. THEY WERE HEARTLESS IN THEIR DECISION. Even though they admit to having the wrong address. PLEASE if you have moved call your provider to make sure they have your correct address. I would hate to see this happen to anyone else. If you think B.C.B.S. CARES, you are wrong all they care about is getting your money. WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING......
