The room was beautiful but it took almost 45 minutes to check in because there was a really long line and only 1 employee. We seemed to have an issue getting dinner every night, the restaurant wasn't open when we went and we tried to get pizza at the shop but it closed at 7pm instead of 8pm as posted on the door. Also the splash pad by my room was taped off the whole week we were there so we had to get in the car to drive to another pool everytime. We had a great view from our room and would be back if we didn't have to sit through another 4 HOUR timeshare presentation that was supposed to be 120 minutes!!!

Just enjoyed the day on the grounds. The pool areas were very nice even when crowded. I love the property and all the staff were friendly. We did rent poles to go fishing. We saw fish but no bites. O well, kids had a blast. Thanks Welks!
My wife Cathy and I have been members of Welk's Resorts since 2015. Before that we had both had very bad to horrible experiences, separately and together, with "Time Share" companies. However Welk has been different in that they seem to be "owner" focused. Not that they don't have a negative side, like they could use more A.D.A. compliant units, and they seem to be always trying to get you to be more points(aka "Time"). But over all it is not a bad place, even if you do not play golf.
Gorgeous room, ultra comfy beds, best nights sleep I've had in forever. Disappointing service & multiple mistakes that included sending us to an already occupied room. We loved the room we were relocated to but it ended up having baby cockroaches in it & by my standards that's an absolute no-no, yuck!!
Make sure to use H . when booking your room. This web site will compare countless hotel sites and usually will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This place is one of the best in the area. I have been coming here for a very long time. If you decide to stay here you for sure won't be let down.
Very beautiful property! Great family fun! Multiple pools, beautiful golf course, fire pits, etc. The rooms are amazing and extremely comfortable. Front office employees very friendly. Overall great stay!
I am giving a 1 star only because there is no chance to give zero. We booked a hotel room with my husband a few month ago for June 21-24. Got the confirmation. However, before heading to San Diego (because it is a 5 hour drive) decided to call and make sure that the reservation is still good. The front desk lady responded that her system did not let her to check our reservation and that we must call to a different number she gave us. We called the other number and it turned out that, unbeknownst to us, they changed our reservation to July 2-5. We were very surprised as we never received any calls or emails regarding that change. Anyways, we were happy that we took an extra hour to figure that out. We spent a lot of time calling and leaving v/ms to numerous numbers provided by the Welk Resort San Diego trying to understand why our initial reservation was changed, but never got a response or a call back. Because tomorrow is July 2 and due to the poor experience described above we decided to call Welk Resort SD before heading there and make sure that the reservation is still ok only to be informed that we do not have any reservation for July 2 because it was expired on June 24 (last day of our initial booking). The front desk lady transferred the call to another department to find out what's going on but the call cut off after a 20-minute wait. I would never expect such an irresponsible attitude by Welk Resort SD. This was a complete waste of time and money. Thus, I will not recommend anyone making reservations with them.
My grandparents were original owners of a Welk timeshare, and now my parents own it and we have been going every year since the 90s. Over time, I feel the Welk resorts has gone downhill as far as customer service, clientele, cleanliness, amenities, etc. Since being bought by Marriott, the ameneties are few and far between. My mom had to call housekeeping dozens of times because items were missing from the kitchen. There's not enough lounge chairs, or tables for everyone or the nice outdoor sofas that used to be at Mountain Springs. No more hammocks, only 1 pool table, waterside was slow, splash pad had many broken spouts and the cushion pad was coming apart. My hubby and I put our towels on 2 chairs, went inside to change only to come back and find that someone had taken our chairs and put their things on it! We saw this happen with other guests as well. Alot of riff-raff, low class people coming in. I'm sure they aren't owners. My parents pay over $1,000 a year for maintenance fees. People just walking in without a guest key, others propping the pool gate open for anyone to go in. One person working Trestles snack bar, on Labor Day weekend! They used to have fun activities for adults like casino night, bingo, beer tasting, wine tasting in the vineyard on the property. Not anymore. You can't blame Covid if you have hundreds of people packed in the pool. I really wish the original management was still in charge. The Welk used to be a classy, fun place with lots of activities. I honestly would only return for the golf courses- that is one good thing left about this place.
My family has been going the third week in August for over twenty years. Golf course looks nice but I have no details. The pools are average but dirty with sun screen, foliage, and insects. The exercise room is very well equipped and clean. Roadways and parking spaces are in need of repaving. The rooms are nice and recently remodeled. The best part of this facility is all the employees are extremely helpful and smiley.
This is a beautiful resort with so much potential. My wife and I have worked around the issue of no real options for dining all week. Our first night we ordered take out from the Canyon Grille. The restaurant was woefully understaffed and in spite of ordering ahead, it was still 35 mins late before we were given our food. The one person who represented the restaurant worked amazingly hard to make things work, but was under pressure from a lot of irritated guests. Tonight, Friday, we tried to get a pizza from the Pizza Hut Express on site. The website indicated they were open and we walked down at 7:15 only to find that the store closed at 7pm. Are you kidding???!!! How does one of the only dining sources in the whole resort close at 7pm on a Friday?? When most of the restaurants in the area are located miles away, how does such a nice resort allow for guests to eat?? I am sorely disappointed in the leadership of this resort to allow such a situation to happen, even with the issues related to the pandemic. I gave the resort 2 stars as the site itself and the rooms are beautiful. So disappointed.
The amenities were amazing and they had several pools, including one pool that was 18 and over. Didn't shop because they were closed. And the one bedroom villa was spacious and well designed. Definitely be back,if not to this location definitely for the others.
