My grandparents were original owners of a Welk timeshare, and now my parents own it and we have been going every year since the 90s. Over time, I feel the Welk resorts has gone downhill as far as customer service, clientele, cleanliness, amenities, etc. Since being bought by Marriott, the ameneties are few and far between. My mom had to call housekeeping dozens of times because items were missing from the kitchen. There's not enough lounge chairs, or tables for everyone or the nice outdoor sofas that used to be at Mountain Springs. No more hammocks, only 1 pool table, waterside was slow, splash pad had many broken spouts and the cushion pad was coming apart. My hubby and I put our towels on 2 chairs, went inside to change only to come back and find that someone had taken our chairs and put their things on it! We saw this happen with other guests as well. Alot of riff-raff, low class people coming in. I'm sure they aren't owners. My parents pay over $1,000 a year for maintenance fees. People just walking in without a guest key, others propping the pool gate open for anyone to go in. One person working Trestles snack bar, on Labor Day weekend! They used to have fun activities for adults like casino night, bingo, beer tasting, wine tasting in the vineyard on the property. Not anymore. You can't blame Covid if you have hundreds of people packed in the pool. I really wish the original management was still in charge. The Welk used to be a classy, fun place with lots of activities. I honestly would only return for the golf courses- that is one good thing left about this place.
