Wow, take out a home loan for the new menu and drinks on the weekend, what was a fantastic place to take family for lunch or a share Mezze Plate that is now half the size and over priced drinks for a view massive disappointment, beautifully renovated and a view that is second to none but this is an RSL and the poor old digger is left with out a penny.

Held a birthday function for my Mother-in-law. Club was extremely accommodating, gave us priority window seating, and food was served in a timely manner.
Friendly and helpful team. I made a reservation and was given a table with a view of the beach. We even arrived 15 mins early and the table was available.
Parking could be better (especially for $25!!) Once you navigate your way to the RSL entrance AFTER us being told to move to another carpark and that you NEED to have a paypass card to pay the fee as you can't pay with cash. You are atleast welcomed to quite a modern refurbished establishment with beautiful waterfront views of North and south cronulla and Captain Cook Point. Currently there is some construction underway. We ate at the 'watergrill' restaurant, whilst the food was OK, it was a little too pricey for what it was... A Portuguese burger on Turkish was $27! The pork belly dish I had was $32, surprisingly these were some of the cheapest items on the menu. Most meals ranged between $32-$45 which in my opinion is excessive for RSL dining. The Asian fusion influence clearly evident in the menu seemed somewhat confusing... A dish advertised as 'Tapas' said it includes duck spring rolls with hoisin sauce... Not my idea of tapas! Service was quick however and also mostly friendly, however eating my pork belly with a butter knife despite having asked for a steak knife was ridiculous! Overall the location is very nice as is the decor and is fairly kid friendly, prices are a bit expensive for the quality and size, and the menu I found a tad too ambitious/pretentious.
Very nice rooftop area with water views. It has a dedicated cocktail bar tucked away at one end of the outdoor balcony area. A standard selection of beers on tap (no unique brews) and the food is enjoyable but not cheap. It can get very busy and you'll need to get in early to get good spot on the balcony, crowd is very casual though and obviously it gets a bit loud on the weekend nights. Good for larger crowds as there are several long tables to take advantage of on the rooftop.
The other floors contain just basic tables and chairs for dining and a TAB area, these feel very segregated and different to the top floor.
Yes, the food is a little overpriced but imagine what a proper restaurant would charge for the view. Just make sure you see the two different menu cards. One is more exy than the other.
Today I joined my family at the Cronulla RSL and was treated very poorly by staff members. I was impolitely demanded to remove my hat inside the club by bartender, Karen. When I approached the bar for a beer, I was not asked for identification and am well under 25 years of age. I asked for a scooner of Stella and the beer was put in a glass of 330mL, above the scooner limit, and was charged more than their advertised price for a scooner of beer. Simple manners were lacking from Karen and waiters at this club. I was charged $30 for the salt and pepper squid main size, but it came in the entree size. Having extensive senior experience in the hospitality industry, I highly advise a staff review. Very disappointed. Won t be coming back.
Loved my time in Cronulla but did not enjoy our visit to the RSL. Great view friendly staff but just not enough of them, the bar que was massive and just a regular sat lunch time, went downstairs to the other bar to que there and find out they don t to the same cocktails as the upper bar
On to the food....where to begin we both did not enjoy our meals and considering we dropped $55-$60 very disappointing. The burger I had was terrible, bland is an understatement. The smallest drop of sauce and some salad, was over cooked too, makes McDonald s seem like gourmet! Wife had a sandwich with wasn t great either. $29 for a burger seriously I ve no problem paying it if it s great. Even if we had a members discount it s still crazy expensive for a RSL. City prices but not matching the quality.
Don't go there if you want to watch any sports they have one tv in the poxy little tab area with two computers to put bets on and to get a drink walk up to where the restaurant is .
Had the tapas and unfortunately not impressed. The pork belly was dry and the crackling not crispy, seems it was cooked earlier and pre heated. My friends meals weren't much better, maybe a one off due to volume of people at the time. As for the club ,the ambiance, and position is second to none and worth the visit if you are from out of town. A visual experience to enjoy, child friendly and you can wear your thongs.
