Watergrill RSL Cronulla Review

This club is despicable. I am a regular customer here and come here to enjoy a beer or two with my friends and the security here nearly flogged me to death for putting my beanie on literally 2 metres from the entrance. I am appalled>

I only go there to meet up with my son Sheldon as he lives in the area. Usually for a family and friends gathering for dinner etc.
I like the food from the Bistro here.

Really nice view and sunterrace, also a really nice quantity of quality wines,beer and lacquer. The food tastes pretty good and the size is okay. When we where there it was really crowded but it still didn't take very long. In my opinion the food quality tastewise is a litle to low for the price. I would still go there again.

$32 for chewy frozen fish and chips...the view is lovely, yes, but the prices and bad fish cannot be excused! I've been to many RSLs with beautiful ocean views around NSW and there is no excuse for this! I am pregnant and was worried I would get sick after the rubbery fish. Also chicken parmigiana for $30, that is a joke, our local being Bondi RSL serves twice as good for $17!

Really lovely food. No waiting. The staff did a great job under these difficult circumstances, well done. Will definitely be back !!

Ordered the Atlantic Salmon with rosemary kipfler potatoes.

Fish was OK, but the potatoes looked cooked on the outside, but cold and raw-tasting on the inside. I'm not sure how they managed to achieve that combination.

Friend with me ordered Chicken Parmigiana and had warm chicken and cold chips.

Very underwhelming for >$50

The location and sea views are worth the visit. The espresso martinis are particularly good but food wasn't particularly memorable. I had the seafood linguine which for the price I would of expected fresh pasta, the sauce unfortunately overpowered the fresh seafood in the dish.

We went here for dinner and a few drinks and, understandably, it was very busy. Had to book a table at the restaurant which was an ordeal- the older gentleman talked for sometime about himself. We just wanted a table and not this man's life story. His name may have been Abe Simpson... They ended up being full so we waited and were happy to do so. We grabbed a few drinks and soon had a table. The meals were ok- typical 1970s style all volume and no real flavours or care in the dishes. If you want to knock elbows in crowds and get primed for a massive night this may be your place. If you want a good meal and a nice view this certainly is not.

The Watergrill Restaurant is located on the top floor of the Cronulla RSL and has some of the most commanding ocean views of any coastal restaurant in Sydney. The big difference is that most restaurants are down low to the sea, The Watergrill is perched up high for expansive oceanic vistas. Weekends are busy and bookings [must be 8 or more] are highly recommended to get a much coveted window table. Menu is varied and moderately priced, but most meals are of generous portions. With about 160 seats, tables and seating in the main dining room can be tight in sections, not much swinging or parking room for prams or strollers. When busy, this is a noisy location [that's most weekends] if you want to hear the clink of wine glasses this is not the place for you. Diners can sit anywhere on the 3 levels of the Club and still order food from the restaurant. In the Sun Room with Jumbotron screen for sports or out on the sun-filled deck which has its own cocktail bar. There's over 500 seats on the top level to choose from. Parking can be tight in Cronulla on weekends, especially in Summer.

Membership offers parking, discount quality food and drink and the best views over the ocean; all at reasonable prices.

What a wonderful venue. Service was amazing. A great choice on a wonderful spring day. Food was amazing and well priced. Reccomemded you visit.

Disappointing meals pumpkin gnocchi was very dry because of no sauce, chicken schnitzel was a small portion for a $29.50 meal. Great view but continually disappointed with meal selections.

Recently renovated the best veiws of cronulla beach food is fantastic

Ordered the salmon, overall it tasted good. Tabouli was delicious, fruit on salad (they added pomergranet) is always my go to. Salmon was very soft to cut yet dry in the mouth and going down the throat end the skin wasn't too crispy as it peeled off completely as I cut the salmon. Staff are alright, some polite and some looking dead inside/done but I get it, it's a busy place. Dishes ranging from $19-59 per person, a bit over priced for what's standard bar food. Kinda mediocre place. Facility and venues themselves are quite nice, hard to hear people during conversation though. Sneaky surcharge only noticed the 0.4% surcharge when I tapped my card. It's alright overall. Not bad.

A1 view of Cronulla beach . Food quite good to match. Only complaint is that it can be very noisy in busy periods

great food, always have Sunday afternoon lunch with friends, love the view and the chilled atmosphere, its kid friendly, so it caters for all ages. Love it..

Just celebrated a colleague's 60th birthday at Watergrill Restaurant. The large windows allowed the whole party to experience the beautiful view. This is a fantastic option for a beautiful venue in Cronulla for lunch with the whole group. Food was very tasty and the service fantastic. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Fantastic outlook over stunning Cronulla beach. Friendly staff, excellent service great meal. Very enjoyable afternoon.

We booked a family dinner for 20 ppl on the Saturday 5th December. Everyone enjoyed their meals, they were ready soon after we ordered. All the staff from the front desk to the waiters were terrific. My husband said that the marshall was very helpful with a terrific sense of humour. It was our first time at this Watergrill and we will definitely be going back again.

Seafood platter was lovely and I would recommend it. Entree of arancini, spring rolls and camembert cheese was a little disappointing and lacked flavour.

With the great renovations that have been done at this RSL I genuinely think the bistro could lift its quality and delivery of food.

Staff really need clear plates quicker. Took 1hr to clear plates after lunch.

Time to get a consultation chef like Danny Russo or Colin Fassnidge to revamp the menu.

Water grill has to go!

Nice RSL club, with good eating options. Live music on some nights. Cocktail bar is popular.

Great food, a little hard on the wallet but good quality cooking, great vibe, great entertainment. Wish there was more parking on a weekend

Absolutely appalling service and incredibly rude floor staff. The management refuse to honour the marketing present and visible throughout the venue. The restaurant Watergrill operates and marches to it's own drum and has no customer service skills. Been several times, and due to this disgusting experience will not return. Came for my niece's Birthday with my family including elderly members all full paying. Yet treated like we are just mugs who came in out of the gutter, not the frequently visiting members we are. When challenging the reality of their in house marketing they then return suit by threatening with security.

Get your act together. Your competition puts you to shame!

Disgracefully dealt with experience. Perhaps Sergeant Darren Thompson should hear of your heavily handed exploits in dealing with long standing members.

Not sure what has happened to the restaurant but the quality of food, and the prices they charge seem to be getting wider an wider apart. We went for lunch for a family member's 70th on the weekend, and all the kids nugget meals were undercooked. Our steaks were overcooked, which is a tough ask when you're paying $42 for a surf n turf that only has 2 prawns and is nothing special. Most of the meals are north of $30, which for a restaurant that has no table service is a bit stiff. Great view, but if your'e after nice food for a better price plenty of other Nulla restaurants around.

Great view but the ceaser salad wasn't very good, please use just the ceaser dressing and don't mix or just use mayonaise as the salad was boring to eat. Also was expensive for a non-ceaser dressing, ceaser salad.

We celebrated my daughters birthday at Watergrill as a party of 8. Venue is fantastic, food was great as always, and overall experience really good. Will continue to recommend and book this venue for variety of functions.

One of best views you can have while eating dinner or just enjoying a drinking

2-4-1 deal was great. Setting & view tops. Maybe have 50/50 lounge/dining along window area.

Such a fabulous restaurant, the staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming ( especially the wonderful staff member who welcomed us on Sunday 24/01/21, I m sorry I didn t ask her name) and the food matched the view, just brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, and highly recommend it, I ll definitely return.

Best TSL Club for location and facilities but the worst food at the most expensive prices.
Hoe they haven't sacked the watergrill years is beyond me.

Wish I had read the other reviews before wasting my time and money here. Two stars; view is great and food is pretty good for the price. However the unbelievable arrogance, rudeness and general approach of floor staff leaves a bad taste in the mouth. After asking to have a window seat on an empty afternoon, we were reluctantly given a bigger table than we needed and were told we could have the table on the condition we don t touch any of the cutlery . Serving up quite the attitude with a unique and appalling interpretation of customer service.

Very beautiful view of Cronulla beach, high prices, however the lunch menu is well worth it! Well served and delicious dishes.

We had a very nice Sunday lunch there and then relaxing walk along the beachfront. Excellent facility and nice view from the dinning area over the beachfront.

The club has a very nice atmosphere throughout with a real coastal vibe. The food was excellent and competitively priced. The service however was a real let down. Everyone we spoke to from the concierge to the bar staff, the waiters and anyone else we happen to chat to seemed like they'd rather be anywhere else. They responded in grunts and groans, it was like ordering a beer at the bar was major inconvenience. The staff made an otherwise excellent day feel like we were at a funeral. We will return and hopefully the staff are in a better mood.

Best RSL in NSW. The renovation is stunning and it really takes advantage of the view. Food was okay and drinks reasonably priced.

Been only once but it is a really nice place, would go back.

We go here each year for our end of holiday luncheon with family and friends, although the food is very nice I feel the prices are way over the top which was a bit disappointing this year. Maybe a different venue for us next year.
