Waterbar San Francisco Restaurant Review

We went to the Waterbar on Saturday for a nice breakfast. We had a gift certificate, which made the whole experience better. The service was good although the food did take a long time to come out. Might have gotten 4 stars but my date found a hair in her food. They were quick to take the food back and have a fresh one prepared, but by the time her food came back out we were getting restless. As she ate the second dish she kept pulling crab shells out of her mouth. Not sure what's going on here but I think it's safe to say we will not return.

The food here is consistently great. They have a nice presentation, the fish is fresh and the sauces they add are a perfect complement. The drinks are equally well prepared and dosed for an apero!

The view is spectacular!

The one area that could improve is the service. It's often slow and the waiters seem overwhelmed. I've walked up to a table at the bar and stood by waiting for it to be cleaned. At some point I just sat down and asked the waiter to do it. I can't blame the waiters because they're running around like a chicken with their head cut off while the hosts just stand there. A little more teamwork would give a better customer experience.

Other than the rumble of the nearby bridge and too small sun umbrellas, the food and service were excellent.

Great place to go with friends from out of town, or simply if you love brunch. Expect a wait during brunch, and slightly understaffed. Food is well prepared and very high quality. We were time constrained and always needed to seek out our waited. He was friendly and did his best but was attempting to serve a few too many tables.

Always a staple in San Francisco. Absolutely delicious menu.

Excellent food and service. The only thing I would change is to have a regular menu for lunch on Saturdays. Brunch should only be offered on Sundays.

I love taking visitors here!! The view of the Bay Bridge is amazing- especially at night when the light show is going. They have $1 oysters during happy hour. They also have a large patio area for sunny days!

ATMOSPHERE:
LOVE love love the atmosphere! View of the Bay Bridge, but the interior is just stunning, with pillars made of an aquarium! For the outdoor patio seating perfectly to enjoy the new view of Bay Bridge especially with the led Bay Lights installation in place, sparkling up while dusk falls into a colorful rainbow sherbet hues.

Normally crowded. Patio seating is first come, first serve and often you'll have to wait if you go at a busy hour of the day. Bar seating at the bar is very difficult to get and often very crowded with people bumping into one another as they try to navigate the tight space. So so cocktails (you could definitely get better elsewhere). Staff are often busy bustling around. Overall, the view is what drives people to the Waterbar as it has a view of the Bay Bridge on the Embarcadero. If that's your jam, then try it once but don't go with high expectations.

Everything is top notch. Good atmosphere, nice waiters, good food.

Fish not cooked all the way through but l was very satisfied how they rectified my dissatisfaction.

I live it I love it I love it, absolute best restraint I've ever bean too and I went t to Europe for two weeks. This is the other resteraunt of the chef my family knows along with mersea.

I come here because I can eat seafood and Californian food when the customers come. Capacity is kind and recommended.

Despite being a fancy shop, you can enjoy meals at relatively reasonable prices. The view is good and the service is polite.

Gorgeous atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food and drinks. Started with the sashimi duo, which won the night: extremely fresh fish and melon, and the light coconut/mint topping made it feel like pure wintery goodness in fish form. Salmon was also really tasty, more so than the tuna in my opinion, though that was great too. Bartender-recommended whiskey cocktail was perfectly proportioned and presented. Will come back for special occasions (certainly not cheap).

Once again Waterbar impressed and delighted! Get there while it's Dungeness season - you won't be disappointed. Beautiful setting, exceptional staff and service, perfect place to take out of town guests - or just spoil yourself.

Snobby attitude, lost our order had to wait a long time. They did comp part of the meal.
But for the price I expected great service and excellent food.

This place is too expensive for the quality of food they have. The drinks were good, they didn't cook my steak or my husband steak correctly 2x's and we ended up leaving. Still charged $165 for 2 appetizers and 2 drinks per person. Ridiculous prices and ok food.

Took my family to the Mother's Day brunch. They offered a three-course prix fixe menu and everything we ordered was fantastic. The dishes that stood out were the pork belly appetizer and the quail stuffed with fois gras and waffles. We enjoyed our meal while appreciating the stunning view of the Bay Bridge and beautiful ambiance of the restaurant. I will be returning to indulge in their wide selection of wine and oysters.

Enjoyable evening with the Bay Bridge as ambience. Food was delicious, especially the Drakes Bay oysters! The food was only outshined by the impeccable service.

Ambiance and services are great. Food is good though I'm not too crazy about the filet beef. Liked the snapper. Quite pricy.

OMG! they are fantastic! Very detailed oriented, extremely clean and safe. They asked for you to wear a mask at all times, unless you're eating or drinking, when food is delivered you've to wear some sort of facial covering; which is great! Food was fantastic as always, our waitress was SO polite and attentive( forgot her name...so sorry )! Can't wait to come!!

Excellent place to dine with family or friends, delicious food, fast and friendly service, also offers spectacular views of the Oakland Bridge and if you wish, a walk on the pier will close with a golden night.

Came here for a holiday lunch with my co-workers and service was excellent. We were greeted upon entering, hostess offered to take my jacket and hang it and were seated immediately since we had reservations already. We ordered the chilled shellfish/seafood platter to start with and it was so good. Oysters, clams, shrimp, lobster and crab! We also got the flat iron steak and white fish entrees, which were all delicious. Maybe we just ordered the right things, maybe it was because I didn't have to pay, but I enjoyed my visit here thoroughly. The view was, of course, excellent with the restaurant being right by the water and Bay Bridge. The caramel bread pudding for dessert was also scrumptious. Good times!

We went here at happy hour. We got a great deal for really good oysters. We also ordered the potato chips and dessert. There are a lot of people but you still experience good service.

Came here with a friend for Sunday brunch. The food was delicious, but our waiter was a busybody, constantly shifting and moving things on our table. We would have preferred fewer interruptions. Will come back for the great location and food, and hope for different wait staff.

This place has $1 happy hour oysters which is awesome :D. The atmosphere is great for dates. The place also has large aquariums inside and a great view of the bay outside. The food is expensive but the oysters are definitely worth coming for.

$1 house oysters with a great view of the Bay Bridge. Can't beat it for price, view, and ambiance. Definitely on the more upscale/posh site with great drinks. Pair the oysters with the secret bloody mary with bacon on top! Costs about $8 more though.

We had a corporate party here and it was a mostly great experience. Service was exceptional, wine was great, and hors d'oeuvres were delicious. Though picking finger food up with fingers was strange, toothpicks or sticks would be a great improvement.

Recommend to have lunch or dinner at the outside terrece with the view of the Bay Bridge

this is a great place to eat. The food is awesome.I am steak person and I found it to be one of the best steaks l've had in a long time, Also it has a killer aqaurium that is outstanding to watch.

Love waterbar for its location and wine list. It is overpriced. But if you re looking for a lovely meal on the embarcadero, you ll enjoy!
