I walked into a room at one point and was overcome with the smell of bile. There was a large wooden scaffold structure to the left with a toilet on top and dried vomit everywhere. I vaguely remember there maybe being a fishing pole and umbrella up top as well. There was a video on loop showing the artist* sitting on the toilet, eating copies of the Wall Street Journal while drinking milk and ketchup. Then he would throw up. I took this to mean that he did not like the Wall Street Journal.
In another room, there was a framed TV showing a video of a hand. Sometimes the fingers would wiggle, but only slightly. At one point, the hand balled up into a fist before opening again. The hand did other things, but I don t want to spoil the movie for anyone that hasn t seen it yet.
The sculpture garden is nice.
*was he though?
Absolutely must see! FREE ART!! Way better than going to the mall of America!
It is contemporary art museum. Few of the art works are good. It is yet to be developed
Great place to visit for contemporary arts. The galley was quite shorter than I expected.
Definitely need to check out the outdoor park and would visit this museum again for different exhibition.
Lovely place for a wedding! Sunny outside for the ceremony, but it was late in the day so not too hot.
Beautiful display of arts, with calming and reflective effects for Art lovers
Sculpture garden is fantastic. Two if the main galleries we're closed for installations so we missed their major attractions
Very wonderful art exhibit's and sculpture garden"s
Very cool art museum! Definitely the most unique art museum in Minneapolis!
Good art and neat architectural design. Plenty of gems here to see.
Because other people's pain is not an art exhibit that should be for profit.
Went to first Saturday of the month which is free admission. The walker has great events so check out there web page for more information.
Very nice building and parking structure with great view of the park and city, art exhibits aren't my thing. Maybe I'm not a modern art person
I brought my tribe here today for the first time for their #freefirstsaturday I wasn't too impressed with the hands on activity stations which was some tables set up in the rooms with a few scattered supplies and no one to offer the little ones any help or instructions, after attempting two stations with no idea of what to do we decided to check out some of the exhibits (which where also set up a bit confusing but I'm from CA, maybe things are done differently here ). All in all it wasn't the experience we had imagined or hoped for but we made the most of it as a tribe

Beautiful museum, awesome Skyline Minigolf course overlooking Uptown. The course is a 10 hole range designed my individual artists, super unique and fun experience!
I love art museums! There are so many things that make the walker art center amazing!
-The exhibits are really interesting (I went to hippie modernism)
-It is a great price for students! (18 and under is free)
-It is pristine
-There are multiple exhibits and floors
-The old time movie theatre is so cool (spent at least two hours in there watching silent films since no one else was there)
-Really great location
-Great and Fun events (went for Valentine's day)
All in all this is a fun place to see. If it is in the summer, you can also take advantage of Loring park and the sculpture garden which are easily a walkable distance.
We attended the Brisish Arrow Awards, as we do every year. Put this on your calendar if you have never heard of it. It comes around every December. Very fun and you can build a great evening of dining and an outdoor winter walk around your visit. This has become part of our Christmas holiday with our best friends.
I love the sculpture garden and the museum itself has a good variety of artwork.
Not much to look at as far as beauty, but more decay like pieces. Prefer the art from Minneapolis Institute of Art.
I've seen some pretty cool exhibits here! The store is overpriced in my opinion. I do love the sculpture garden. I haven't checked it out since it's been remodeled but of course it still has the classic cherry spoon! Great place to picnic or take photography. It's in a great area to hang out or tour. Lots of nearby restaurants and shops.
The theater is cramped to say the least. I left aching and sore yet it was still a better experience than an up to date movie theater/cineplex.
I like it fine. But that classless lumber gallows shamed us all for decades to come. My family moved to the area exactly the year it happened, where it happened. Revolting. Disgusting. I should have burned it down when I first saw it. That would have been proper. The gallows were taken down because it made everyone irate. We should have had a burning man, Minny style
The art here is seriously disturbing. Quit trying to shock me and just show me some quality art. Not the same Walker museum I toured as a kid.
Mini golf was fun but only if you enjoy a unique course. Balls won't stop on some holes. But the scenery was fun
Really good art museum. A great place to visit and get educated in modern and contemporary art.
Always a fun place to roam around with a camera in hand, and there is always something interesting to see too.
It is a nice place to go if you love nature, arts and surrounding environment...very close to downtown Minneapolis! It also has public restroom there!
They took a bunch of the cool sculptures out and now it's bare, and there's only a couple really good sculptures. The parking lot costs $4 for an all day pass and that's the only option. I think I only spent an hour there and that's probably an exaggeration..
Initially, I was worried when I saw a couple of self-promoting exhibits, showing the revolutionary, provocative history of the center. However, those thoughts faded quickly as we immersed ourselves in the various exhibits. Really wish we lived in Minneapolis so that we could come see new exhibits. Put this on your "must do" list. You will not be disappointed.
This was my favorite visit here ever. Thanks for the great day!!
this has been one of my favorite museums since childhood!! Such great programming and exhibits!!
Most exciting thing I saw in Minneapolis. Don't miss large sculpture garden or the James Turrell installation hiden away from all the other works.
Love this place! Beautiful art all around with great gifts from many different artists. So colorful and bright. The sculpture garden is a great place to walk and see amazing art. Family friendly or a good spot for a date.
The installations are always interesting to me, but this is not a content-heavy museum. I recommend the Walker to visitors who have 60-90 minutes of art interest and if they like gift shops--I always spend at least 20 minutes there alone.
One of the finest modern art museums in the country! Fabulous collection, fascinating exhibits, great performing arts, and excellent restaurant.
Lots of variety in art, well kept grounds. Greatly enjoyed our stay. Parking was somewhat tricky for a Monday, but there is a paid lot close by.
Only in the surrounding areas, not exclusive in Walker art. Center, my visit went to the Idecoop and the DGII cooperative In santo domingo
Good new sculpture garden, the bell tree is kinda of a flop though.
Wonderful place to spent one half to a full day. We walked around the outside sculpture walk (read the writing on the benches), grabbed lunch nearby then came back and went through the museum. There are many excellent pieces in the museum and it is more approachable than many other modern art museums tend to be.
Clean, well managed art gallery that is free on the first Saturday of the month.
A world class museum at our doorstep. Take advantage often, there is always something to see.
The building is beautiful. It seems to me that some areas of the exhibitions should have more access to the visitor. Some chain does not allow the articles to be fully displayed.
service was fantastic. Our server is a grade school teacher during the day, and serves part time at MBC at night. Impressive. Food arrived fast and hot and they were very busy. We had an order of onion rings, with a couple of burgers. the burgers were good but i expected more. not bad, just not great. The onion rings were disapointing. breading fell off when picked up, they were undercooked. So, 10 out of 10 for service, 7 out of 10 for the food. Would probably go back again.
A beautiful place to walk around and check out the art sculptures. Good place to take pictures or shoot videos.
