Exhibits are very short and there's never a shortage of art hoes but you gotta appreciate the vibe you get here. Plus the artwork is so provoking and you'll never have a shortage of inst pics once you leave. Definitely a must see if you're staying in Minneapolis. Although I will say that it's a bit pricey and they don't allow outside food or drink. To avoid this trying on the first Saturday of the month admission is free to all on those days.

The building is beautiful, however with the changes of staff over the last few years, the exhibits seem to lack the talent I had grown to expect from the Walker. It seems that the museum is more focused on drawing a very different crowd. For instance the current exhibit is mostly video of performance art of very slow movement. While cool, one galley instead of six could have been devoted to it.

The renovations of the sculpture garden are ok, but the lack of trees now has drastically reduced my family's enjoyment of it.

I'm sad to see it go this way.

Reminded me of a mental hospital, was very disappointed and half the art I could do. Like a pile of boxes? Really? It had a very dark and twisted theme. If this place is an art center why don't they exibit more of a variety of different arts then a broom painted grey nailed to a board, or shadows having sex with each on a projector and videos of people smashing pianos? It gave me the creeps and the elevator is made to hold a gurney which makes it even more like a mental hospital. The only thing I like about this place is the gardens and they are under construction. I'm glad I went when it was free so I didn't waste my money. The Minnesota Institute of art is a 100x better than this crap.

Beautiful Modern art museum with rotating galleries. There's also an outstanding outdoor sculpture garden which has a few environmentally conscious features. The iconic spoon cherry sculpture over a pool of water collects rain water to be used for watering the native Minnesota prairie plants.

I often refer to this as the museum of disturbing art. I have never seen a piece there that I would want in my home. But I have always enjoyed my visits. We spent hours with an interactive display where we could color art, and then see it come alive, projected in a large room. The sculpture garden is always joyous; not because of the sculpture as much as because it is such a wonderful outdoor space.

Was charged $30.00 for admission. 3 exhibits were closed, the terrace and bar were closed for a wedding. If half of the place is off limits shouldn't the admission be half priced too?

The so called art was confusing, and so beneath what I would consider art. A torn piece of carpet tacked to a wall, a lightstick shoved in a orange bucket. (I thought that was a maintenance setup until I saw a sign next to it.) A smashed car that was spray painted. Two bathrobes on hooks. How does anyone think that junk is art. What in insult to true artists.

The Walker holds a special spot in our hearts for always bringing cool to Minneapolis, plus we love art! We love the indie artists that play Rock the Garden in the summer. They had some great interactive exhibits in the summer of 2017 pictured below. Sculpture garden is a landmark but a bit overrated. The building itself is pretty terrific.

This is always at the top of my list of places to visit in MPLS. I was lucky enough to visit when the mini-golf was set up. I also enjoyed the Murakami wallpaper outside the restrooms. I'd definitely recommend setting aside an entire day to do the visit properly.

A beautiful museum with intriguing art! While I don't always enjoy some of the more modern art forms, Walker has enough of a variety that I was never bored. Their minigolf is very fun and different (in a good way) and a great restaurant and break spot sit right next door! I highly recommend stopping by the golf before your tee time.

Walked over a mile from downtown, through a beautiful green walkway, across a stunning pedestrian bridge, to these amazing outdoor sculptures. What a wonderful place to stroll and take in the sights and eclectic collection of art. Don t miss!

It's all right. The location in downtown Minneapolis is beautiful as are the Sculpture gardens outdoors. The indoor museum failed to hold my attention. Many of the exhibits were closed, and there wasn't much to see.

The art on display is amazing. They've got a variety of pieces from all kinds of different mediums. The building is also super clean, modern looking, and staff are extremely kind and knowledgeable!

I enjoyed the museum. The layout was rather confusing, there was a lot of people working in each room which made me as a viewer feel pressured to move quickly, and there wasn't any cohesive theme. The rooftop garden was closed. I'm not a huge modern art fan but I only disliked it because of its lack of cohesion. They had Schiele, Picasso, Duchamp, a lot of big names. Honestly, if you can only do one museum go to the Minneapolis Art Institute (MIA).

If you're into art then this is the place to go. Lots to see inside and outside the center. It's a popular must see when visiting Minneapolis. Also close to a plethora (I don't know why I used that word but it fits) of restaurants.

Really like the facade of this modernist piece of architecture. Unfortunately there was much construction with chain link fences all over and the sculpture garden under renovation. I'll need to come back. Interesting programs offered as well.

Very powerful displays. The Grand AM display had me in tears. Then there was the black history display that did a great job teaching me about the racism that existed in society and am sure still lingers around.
