Servings were super generous! had the wings with blue cheese sauce, chicken schnitzel and the sausage. maybe we ordered a bit too much but we definitely left very satisfied.

Fantastic food and service, everything on the menu is delicious with a great selection of german beets.
Fantastic Wurst plate, goes very well with the HP gold!
The beer was great. The nachos were tasty and the portion large. The chicken wings were okay and a bit dry. The view off the patio is what makes this a four star place for me. The food is pricy as you can expect.
Great German beer and food with a rustic atmosphere!
I can t understand how this place is rated so highly, aside from the fantastic location. Chicken schnitzel was reminiscent of a McDonald s happy meal, so not bad, just not worth $30. My $19 Caesar was undrinkable. When the server asked us how everything was, we responded that it was ok. She disappeared and came back 20 minutes later and acted like nothing had happened. Didn t notice or at least didn t comment on the Caesar I didn t touch.
There s lots of great places to eat in Banff... this isn t one of them.
Took 90 minutes to get our food after ordering. Multiple groups were seated after us and finished eating before we were served. The fries and schnitzel were warm but not hot at all. The wings and pretzels were great, but overall not worth the price. $25+ for an entree
Absolutely wonderful place to be! We had a unpleasant experiance at the Vermillion Room but ended up super thankful it happened, because the way were treated here was above and beyond what we expected from a "pub". We had a friendly greetimg and an amazing view from the patio to start with a delicious cheese board. Our server was super friendly and the manager was a warm and consistent presence among the staff and tables which was great to see! It's the little things that can make or break an experiance and this was definitely a "make" experience from start to finish! Thank you!
Great atmosphere and staff. Went in for one quick drink and ended up staying for three. We really enjoyed talking to Josef the bartender and experiencing the friendly vibe.
A hyped place but some servers do need some sort of racial bias training and understanding of passive aggression. We sat inside and ordered Fondue for 2. There weren t a lot of people the waiters weren t coming to check on us.
Gary, one of the waiters, was treating us as naive and I personally felt offended. This personally has been one of my worst experience in our Banff trip. Asking to get the flame corrected for the Fondue was seeming like a big task.
The food was good but asking for anything felt really painful.
I am sad, I had high hopes from this place.
We are at the restaurant and it was fabulous. This 1929 building has great character. Fondu was delicious. Swiss and German choices. Everything we had was of the highest order.
The food was very good and the building is really cool. The patio at the pub was great. The pub service was great, but the restaurant service wasn't good.
We stayed at the Banff Springs Hotel and admittedly was too late to make a reso for any of their other restaurants for dinner. I had my temperature checked (covid precautions) and I was told to sit wherever I d like. My server came over and asked if I was familiar with the QR code on the table to view the menu, I said I was but asked if they had a hard copy menu (I was pressed for time as I had an event to be at in 45 minutes) and I didn t want to waste 5 minutes downloading an app to scan the code so I could see the menu. I didn t think a hard copy menu was a huge deal, they can always be wiped down and sanitized but I was met with a VERY rude server who made comments about my phone not working or me not being able to work a phone. Keep in mind I m in my late 20 s and he s closer to 50, so shaming me over the technology my generation coined was quite comical. I restated that it was a simple question and he could easily say no to my request instead of being so rude. He stormed off and I was left to my downloading to pull up a menu. I ve served tables for years and was ready to chalk it up to a bad night but he ignored me completely after that. I had to ask HIM if he could take our order after about 15 minutes of waiting. I would ve been able to forgive the atrocious service if the food was any good but it disappointed all of us. $26 burger was one of the worst I ve had, the $34 schnitzel was like bland leather and the $21 pretzel was ok except the cheese it comes with is awful. How can CHEESE be awful? It s cheese. 10/10 would never eat here again. Ever.
Food was wonderful and generous portions. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Just want to commend Oli at the bar. Great service, very knowledgeable about beers and everything local. Very personable with a dry sense of humor. Have always loved coming here, but he is definitely a plus!! Thanks Oli!
Fun little German pub, a bit pricey but the views are amazing. Loved the pubchos!
Great views. Very peaceful on the patio. Food is a bit over-priced for the quality
The view is absolutely stunning and the Mooseheads were very cold. While I have had better chicken schnitzel, it was a worthy effort and the fries were crisp. Our server was friendly and attentive.
Be forewarned, and this will sound crazy, if you don t like squirrels and chipmunks, eat inside. They aren t afraid of humans and will climb onto your table for a nibble. Heck, they will climb on you.
This place is a fantastic, hidden gem overlooking the golf course with Mountain View s. Make sure to ask for Molly. She was an amazing server. We loved her. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Molly!
Great service, excellent food and drinks and beautiful location.
Love this pub! The view is the killer and Elk was a bonus, luckily we saw a herd!
We had a Great waiter. I think his name was Steve. He sensed I didn't enjoy my liquor spiked hot tea and graciously took it off our bill. I can't remember the name of the cheese, bacon pasta in skillet...GET that!!! Perfect, thick, crispy bacon delight with sprinkled, toasted, bread crumbs. The cheese fondue is huge! Beautiful views, nice and toasty inside, large TV for viewing sports.
Great pints of beer, comfort food and a relaxed bar
Food was excellent drink took a little while to arrive
Schnitzel! Nuff said. Except watch out for the squirrel.
The one thing they are known is fondue and they somehow didn't have any. We sat down ordered 2 large ones and they took our drink order and only then told us they ran out.
The service was distinctly below average. We waited at our table for over 10 minutes before anyone said hi or took our drink order. Our drinks took a really long time to arrive. A table that ordered after us got their drinks first. The food was perhaps slightly above average. Overall, I would expect a lot more from a Fairmont establishment.
They were pretty cavalier with their resident mouse. When people mentioned that there was a mouse running around the dining room the response was oh yeah, he lives right over there as if that s an acceptable answer to a guests concerns about a RODENT scurrying under their feet. Yikes. Service was absolute garbage. Food wasn t much better. Not worth the $90 for dinner for 2, that s for sure. If you want terrible service, sub par food, and rodents crawling over your toes, give it a try.
Why is it that restaurants with amazing views never have good food? Must you sacrifice food for the view every time? The view is amazing if you''re sitting on the patio: the river, the alpine air... This is dining al fresco at its best. But the food was atrocious. Dry sausages, the seedy mustard was off, there was hair in our desert fondue (they did replace it). Also, the food portions were very small and the pints of beer were pretty large, which is a recipe for disaster. I wish there was a bigger beer selection from Canadian breweries and non-german food options. It's just too German, for my taste. We are in the Canadian rockies after all...
Angela was an awesome server. Great views and delicious food.
Meal was excellent and so was the service. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Banff.
Food was good. Great location. Decor is drab and needs an update.
A bit tricky to find, but worth the small effort. The Waldhaus restaurant (upstairs) and the the Waldhaus Pub (enter downstairs, around the back) isn't in the Fairmont but instead is located down the descending stairs behind the Fairmont, down near the river. Food & drinks were great and the bartender (Joe) was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. Had the raclette while enjoying the vintage German bierhaus vibe that's not so much "dated" as it is vintage. Looking forward to getting back here again.
We only went there for a drink, which was really good. The view is also very pretty. Some of the stuff were unfriendly.
Amazing patio for an afternoon bevy.
I did wish they were open for lunch.
One of my new favourite spots in Banff! Food was absolutely fantastic and so was the beer. I ordered the schnitzel with the mushroom sauce and it may have been the best meal I ve eaten in Banff. The pricing for the quality and quantity of the food was very reasonable as well. This place is a MUST for anyone who wants to enjoy amazing food with a great view on the patio.
Great View of Spray River and Valley. Nice German Pub.
The Cheese Burger was terrific! Wings with the haus sauce were really solid as well.
You can't miss it, a super comforting place, very good beer and the sausage dish is second to none
Sunny day - great food and beer on the patio. EXCELLENT!!
The view from the patio was amazing. Downtown Banff was packed with people waiting for tables at most of the restaurants but we were able to walk right in and get a great table on the patio here. We shared the Wurst plate with a couple of beers and everything was very good. Don't miss out on this view! And take the beautiful drive around the golf course before or after your meal.
It is a great pub with great service. Love the views and the ambience. It is a bit of a trek to get there.
Really good experience. Hacker Schorr beer was great. The sausages were incredible and that take on a Black Forest cake!!!! Yum! ...and the view!
Overpriced and underserved. The only good thing is the location. Uppity staff and unfriendly servers. Not like any other Fairmont I've been to. The 50 dollar valet parking was the crowning touch.
A bit of a magical escape for me. It wasn't easy for me to find, so when I did find the place, it was akin to finding the Kingdom of Narnia. The first day I found it by parking in the (expensive) visitors parking lot at the far end of the hotel premises. The next day I found it (inadvertently) by taking the 2 hour relaxed walk from Banff town to see the Bow falls. Both times I sat on the pub patio and ordered the German beer in their unlisted 12oz size. Delicious. The breakfast was also excellent. (The rosti wasn't the Swedish rosti I was expecting, but the potato patties I got were good.) The view from the patio is breathtaking... Gorgeous location. Definitely recommended if you're up for the adventure. (Not cheap, but I wasn't expecting it to be.)
Waldhaus is located close to the Banff Springs Golf Course, hole 15, and is perfectly situated along the Bow River. The service we received was excellent and we really enjoyed our experience overall. The fondue was delicious and fun, and they have great wine/beer options.
Hidden spot in the heart of Banff with delicious German cousine
decent size of patio with view, they have best onion rings in Banff
The fondue was delicious and i was so happy that they had gluten-free bread! Robbie was our waiter and he was fabulous.
Breathtaking view. Forever carved into my memory. And the food stealing chipmunks are adorable.
Great place for a beer. Talk to Ollie he knows his stuff about Banff and area
Average overpriced Bavarian food, everyone left disappointed and with stomach aches. It was highly recommended by hotel so very disappointed.
Beautiful view . Being a little too expensive is the only down fall , but that's Banff
Nice quiet pub. Wonderful setting. Not the cheapest, but the burger and the schnitzel sandwich were amazing.
A great casual place with delicious food. There is a nice 'round room' at one end with beautiful mountain views. It's a great place to relax in the mid- to late afternoon and enjoy the scenery. There are lots of tvs playing sports shows. The warm pretzels are the perfect comfort food. The burgers and sausages are amazing! The hotel has its own butchery where they make the sausages and patties from scratch. The pub then adds spices to the burgers, drops shredded Gouda cheese on them and bake them under a Salamander where 'everything works together' to make a melt-in-your-month burger. Round it off with a big German beer!
