My daughter received a referral to the center from the Morse Clinic after she tested pregnant from a routine test. That was almost a month ago. She has phoned the Andrews Center many times and has had contact with a person there only once, who told her she would receive a call back that day. No one has yet to contact her. If this is the normal treatment for high risk pregnancies, I am concerned. From a hospital that I would recommend to anyone in the area, this treatment is truly awful. I hope they manage to contact my daughter before she actually gives birth.

I work as a healthcare professional, and I know wrong when I see it.
Terrible incompetence and breach of protocol dramatically injured my healthy baby. I'm just grateful they didn't hurt him more.
Records were falsified in an effort to cover their butts.
Our rights to accept or refuse treatment were systematically violated, even literally to the point of threat of physical force against my poor wife by an abusive nurse who literally insisted we had waved our rights to choose the moment we walked through that door.
I served in army in Iraq, but their treatment of my family brought me and my wife to tears. I am consulting with an attorney on the matter.
My wife wants me to add, that there are many nice and friendly faces there as well.
There are not enough superlatives in the world to describe my team of care providers at WakeMed Raleigh! I love them all SO MUCH! Heroes in scrubs Everytime they come into my room, they make me feel like a VIP! This infection is scary, but they put my mind at ease knowing I am in the best hands:)
Delivered my first baby here last week and had a wonderful experience! Misty was our labor and delivery nurse and was so sweet and confident. The mother/baby nurses in the recovery area were great too, they helped with breastfeeding until the lactation consultant arrived (they were a life saver also, thank you Nitaya and Deborah!). Comfortable rooms, decent food, secure floor for babies. Did hear a fair amount of hallway noise. Recommend the grilled ham and cheese at the cafeteria grill.
My Son born on this hospital everything was pretty good very clean, doctor's and nurse are nice, I give 5 stars I'm very happy They make you feel very comfortable
My sister Karmela Adkins was in Wake Med from Sept thru Dec she gained her angel wings on the Dec 1st at 3:50 pm she was in room 3B09 the folks that took care of my sister day in and day out was absolutely wonderful they gave my sister 110% of care and LOVE unconditionally my family and I will forever be grateful so as we try to get through each day without her here with us it's so heartwarming to know you all treated her like part of your family... Thank you all and God bless you A special thank you to Dr Fogerty and Dr Noo Noo I'm not sure if I'm spelling their names right but wanted to let them know we appreciated all they done
I just had my first baby here last week and the level of care we recieved was excellent. All of my nurses were amazing, everyone who was part of my baby's care was amazing too. I literally couldn't have gotten through it without my L&D & postpartum nurses. It was a very positive experience for my family and I.
WakeMed uses anesthesiologists who are out of network for most major insurance plans. Even if your surgeon is in-network, and WakeMed is in-network, they will surprise you with an out-of-network anesthesiologist. This practice is illegal in several states and there is a bill in the US House to outlaw it nationally. If you have surgery here, even if you do your due diligence and check to make sure WakeMed and your surgeon are in-network, you can expect to be surprised with hundreds or even thousands of dollars of extra out of pocket costs. I was charged an extra $650 because of this unethical business practice.
My experience was in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with one of my kids. I have never been at a more well kept, friendlier, and efficient hospital in my life. The Nurses, CNAs, and Doctors are top notch and their specialization shows in how well the children interact with them. Literally a lifesaver.
Had 2 c sections at rex and never any issue with billing. Break my wrist and had to go to wakemed and was sent to collections before I even got a bill. Also it had only been 6 weeks since I broke it before they sent it to collections and it had been going to old address. Called customer service and they told me too late nothing they can do. Never heard of being sent to collections within 2 months of incident. Ridiculous. I will never go there again and will make sure to spread the word. Not right!!!
Don't bother with the kidney stone center. If you are in pain save yourself the cost and the run around and find a good Emergency Department. Typically when you go to the ED for kidney stones they give you fluids and pain meds to help pass the stone. They did neither, they did an x-ray and suggested I take a Tylenol. Absolutely terrible medical care.
Update: I see below that the marketing department has replied asking me to contact them. I actually emailed the hospital the details of my complaint the same day I placed this review. They have yet to respond. This makes me feel that their response is more designed to look like they care, than an actual effort to improve their service.
This is probably the WORST hospital in Raleigh NC. The staff and nurses do not communicate with you about your family member and do not give the accurate information when they do. To them it s just a job it s apparent they don t really care about patients lives! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO MY WORST ENEMY !!
Been here with family members several times...always a professional and friendly place. I've been here 3 times myself...great treatment...highly reccomend!!
Terrible attitudes on some of these nurses and staff members, don t feel as if they enjoy their jobs very much. They could be a little more nice and friendly very unprofessional.
They we're rude impatient and didn't help me at all I went here months before because of my leg they told me to come back if it still was bothering me so I did they wouldn't do a x-ray they didn't even give me any prescriptions they just told me it was nothing they could do about it
I had a hernia repair and Dr Abraham s surgical team were wonderful. Pre op Crystal and Mike made me feel comfortable and relaxed before surgery. Post surgery Jenni took the best care of me. I am so grateful I had her. Her supervisor was wonderful Michelle she checked in on her nurses and patients and has a wonderful personality. But Mike and Jenni made me feel at home. The only thing I wasn t happy with were the nurses that took care of my overnight stay. Erica Richards was a sweetheart but when she left the staff after her was horrible they act like I was bothering them when asking for a ginger ale or my meds because I was in pain. They huffed and puffed when asking them a questions about anything. I felt like I was bothering them and a patient should feel that way.
Being unable to work since June due to cancer treatment, tried to make payments but they sent it to collecyion when it wasn't paid immediately. If given a choice find another hospital that is more patient friendly.
The worst hospital EVER! I WOULD PREFER DUKE OR REX THE NURSES ARE SO RUDE ITS OUT OF THIS WORLD THEY DONT CARE THAT YOU ARE IN PAIN AND TALK TO YOU ANY KIND OF WAY! I asked to speak to a manager or head nurse who I told I have been waiting to be called to the back to see a dr. for 3 1/2 hours and he cuts me off to tell me I can leave or stay AND HES NOT HAVING A CONVERSATION WITH ME ABOUT THIS I m in so much pain all I COULD DO WAS CRY! It s about a total of 5 ppl who came in after me and have all been called before me these ppl don t care about anyone and are the rudest. I will never come here again! I will be trying to get in touch with corporate I have written down names this is the worst
My wife came in at 5:00p.m. Monday, with chest pains and dizzy spells. We had to set in the ER until well after 9:15 p.m. without seeing a Doctor or having her vitals taken since she was in treage. Next time we are going to REX!
I am so sadden about Wake med, I thought this hospital was great until my brother was release and came home with what look like tape burn around his feeding tube. However, no nurse or doctor wrote on his discharge papers or call about the open skin. Instead they cover an open wound with a wrap.
This place is a joke. From the moment we walked in the emergency room. I asked the receptionist (I think her name was Brittany. A heavy set woman) how long the wait time was and how soon they could get to my wife because she was in intense pain. She had an attitude with me and said "when they get to you." I understand they have a lot of people that come in and say the same thing but I was clearly just asking a question. My wife could barely walk, breathe, sit, cough or talk because she right side of the abdomen was in so much pain. We thought it was apendicitis. We waited another hour and a half and so i went up there again and asked if she knew how much longer she had to wait and she wouldn't even look at me, just staring at her phone, and said some BS line that she made up to get me to go away. Terrible customer service. Then finally we went back and they they stuck my wife in some room that looked like a closet with a "bed" in it. And by bed I don't mean hospital bed, I mean one of those mats that they throw on this chair that you can manually recline but doesn't have a footrest. Pretty much the chair a dentist would make you sit in. My wife was still in excruciating pain. The room was nasty. The nurse didn't wear gloves when putting in the IV. My wife had a latex allergy and had the bracelet on to reflect that she had an allergy and we had to tell a couple different nurses at a couple different occasions that she has an allergy to latex or that she cant use the latex tape for the IV etc etc. I am a laidback person and I always give places the benefit of the doubt, especially a hospital, but this was just a terrible terrible experience. They couldn't even figure out what was wrong with my wife after a few tests. I know they're not god but clearly something is wrong with her (even still) and we were sent home without even an IDEA of what is going on. It was entirely a POINTLESS trip to this place. They dont know what theyre doing, the place is disgusting, and the receptionist is lacking the customer service skills to be working the front of an emergency room.
While visiting from NY my grandmother took a life threatening fall and she was brought to WakeMed, after a few short hours in the ED she was admitted to the MICU. The campus itself is beautiful, clean and bright. The nurses and ancillary staff were all amazing during her admission in the MICU. The RN s Daina, Marcia, Bonnie, Sara, Emily, Donna and Anne the nursing student all tended to my grandmother s needs as difficult as she d made that. The women at the front desk of the heart center were also so friendly and asked my mom daily how my grandmother was doing and wished her well on discharge day. Jonathan from PT and Alina from OT were also amazing. Alina was such a sweetheart and Jonathan found a level of humor with each interaction with my grandmother. We met with the palliative care team to go over some of her wishes and they were so easy to talk to and took their time with us discussing some difficult topics. Overall we had a great experience the only area of improvement is discharge. My grandmother was transferred from the MICU to 6C, the transfer was seamless the nurses had her information even down to the number of grandchildren my grandmother has, however discharge from there took longer than the admission from through the ED. They started with discharge paperwork around 10am but we didn t actually get out of the hospital until 4pm. They discharged her with a walker and it took hours for it to be delivered to her room. This hospital is a great place to get the care you need and looks like a great place to work as well!
Fantastic care. Immaculate room. Wonderful, caring nurses. My dad came in very sick to the ER with a fever and dehydrated. The staff aggressively treated his condition and thankfully, within 36 hours he's is healing. Very grateful.
I greatly appreciate all of the Neurosurgeons, Doctors, ER Nurses, Critical Care Nurses, Administrators and Y ALL at WakeMed who loved on and continuously cared for my daughter (H.H.M.H) during her recent Brain Tumor Operation. Y ALL are more than wonderful and greatly to be praised for your professionalism and big hearts. Thank Y All.
I went in needing a antacid and and a mussel relaxant. $9,000 later I got nothing. They did not tell me anything. Every nurse I asked what is going on said they would ask and I would never see her again. They suck!
I had a terrible experience at WakeMed hospital. If you have a choice please don't go there. I went into the ER to be seen for chronic chest pain I was having that morning and chronic headache for 6 days. I arrived at 9:30 a.m., vitals taken and briefly seen by the doctor at 10:15. After that I was given a blood test and was told I would have to wait about 30 minutes for my results. The person who drew the blood the first time was very inexperienced at procedure. He did not use a tourniquet and when he put the needle in blood gushed all over the bed sheet and my arm was in excruciating pain. And me being afraid of needles it just made my experience worse. It took about 4 hours for me to be seen again by any health professional. If I didn't say something after that 4 hour wait I would of been still sitting there for another 4 hours. Not only that they had me sitting there in front of the emergency door entrance with the door constantly opening and closing with the cold air aggravating my headache. After sitting there for that many hours with workers all around me walking back and forth, I asked the man at the desk how long for my test results to come back. He joked and said 15 hours and he said he was going to get someone to help me but he never did and I sat there for another hour listening to Clint Eastwood on his ringtone. I finally spoke to a nurse Rebecca MH (RN) and she got the process rolling for me. After speaking to the nurse I saw the doctor not too long after and he said I needed another blood test. I told the doctor they already took my blood the second time and if my thyroid level was tested. He told me no and would request to test my thyroid. Is this common practice after telling them I take thyroid medication and they never test for that? I would not recommend this place to anybody. If they treated me like that I can imagine what other people went through. I never got sick in my life and I've been through a lot of hospitals for my thyroid and this is the worst. If it wasn't for registered nurse Rebecca I would have given this hospital a rating of zero. And to top it all off it has been 24 hours and my test results are not logged in my chart online.
Chelsea W. from the Emergency Department took care of my daughter when I had her there. We drove from Jacksonville (2.5 hours) to specifically go to WakeMed because of the sterling reputation that WakeMed has.
Chelsea is an amazing nurse- she is genuine, caring, and she took care of us. Anything I asked for she gave her and literally bent over backwards to ensure her stay was comfortable. This is hands down the best hospital I ve ever been to. I will be coming here again.
After all the trials and tribulations my daughter has been through in the last 2 years- I ve never had a medical professional genuinely care as much as Chelsea did. It really makes a difference.
ER wait was 1.5 hrs. We waited for 3 without any care in mind. Girlfriend was vomiting constantly and they could have cared less. After waiting for 3+ hrs, we were transported to a room. I was told we had been waiting for a bed all along, but there were plenty of unoccupied rooms. Nurses were fantastic and the PA was nice, however, getting to them was not pleasant.
The problems started in the ER. The nurses and doctors proved that they did not care about the fact that my daughter was in pain. Luckily when she was admitted, she did have a few good nurses that took care of her. I commend them for trying their best to keep her comfortable as much as they could. The doctor on the other hand, showed us each day that he was clueless and did not care. The doctors never contacted her Hematologist although I asked several times for them to do so. The only reason that my daughter came to this hospital is because I don't live in the area and I told her to go the nearest hospital. What a mistake. What should have been a visit to the ER or possibly a couple of days in the hospital turned out to be a weeks stay. Never again will my child go here. The only reason that I am giving 1 star is because I can't give a 0.
One of the nurses called me fat and they ignored me and basically told me to leave while I was in pain. Worst experience in an er I have ever had. You're better off just suffering than going here, they're a bunch of arrogant, rude children who don't care about anyone or anything.
Went to this terrible facility after a botched wisdom-teeth removal for an emergency surgery. The care at this facility is simply lackluster and borderline negligent. I was made to fill out, in multiple different forms while barely able to maintain consciousness, my dietary preferences and allergies. Despite this, the information I provided was ignored repeatedly. Apparently someone must have thought it was funny to keep sending the Muslim guy pork dishes. The nursing staff was extremely lazy, with even simple requests requiring multiple visits and sometimes being flat-out denied because the entire staff was apparently "on break". It was only once my family had time to visit me that the staff suddenly perked up and started attending to my needs. It shouldn't take the magic "lawsuit" word to be thrown around to get proper medical care. Afterwards, the staff apparently "forgot" to process my insurance and sent me a massive bill. This again, after I was asked to provide my insurance multiple times and confirmed that they had indeed received it. This process took months of back and forth with this facility pursued by my insurance company before this facility finally admitted a mistake was made. Would not recommend to anyone.
Font like this hospital I come here because I have to .unfprtunatly it's hospital .it takes too long. I feel like they ignoring me they to slow I know they busy but I am a patient that it all should matter
Horrible ER. People waiting over four hours in the ER. I ended up being there for ten hours; came in at 5:30pm but didn't see a doctor until 9:30 and left around 3:15am. The vending machines don't work (not a huge deal but everyone was really hungry) & the staff knew this, but never informed any of the guests wasting their money on it. The nurse & doctor would knock, but immediately open the door-it's courteous to wait until you hear the patient say "yes" or "okay" especially in incidents where the person has to undress. I had to undress & they didn't even put the curtain up to block the door for extra privacy. The nurse took three viles of blood but when the doctor came in he said he only needed two. She left the other one in my room all night. After having no contact with either nurse or doctor for two hours, the nurse comes in asking if I got an ultrasound yet. I said no and noted how I didn't know what was going on. She then responded with, "oh I think it's because we have to do this other test first."-which was a pregnancy test, although I have taken ten in the last few months and all were negative. She gives me my cup & notes where the bathroom was. I get dressed & left my room. I was new to this hospital & forgot where the bathroom was, so I went to the counter to ask. My nurse was texting on her cellphone & didn't notice me nor did the other nurses. I had to ask three times for her until she heard me & she just pointed in the direction of the bathroom. Later, I wait again with no updates for a few hours in my room; I finally stepped out & caught another nurse. I ask her what was going on. She is kind enough to get answers for me, sit down with me & showed me how to use the remote for the tv as well as the call button in my room. This was about four hours of me sitting in my room. When I got all my tests done even then I couldn't be informed what was going on because they told me the doctor likes to explain it. I understand but you can at least tell me what you found! Even when the doctor came back in (around 3am) he couldn't explain what I had-which was a polyp. He said it wasn't life threatening so I could go home...never mind the fact that I've been bleeding for two months straight with clots bigger than a quarter. When I finally got to leave I was informed that my test results would be online to access. They never were and I was then informed by the online messaging system that I needed to sign for them. I never knew the cost of my visit either until I asked when I finally picked up my records a couple weeks later.
While the pediatric ER nurses and doctors are amazing, there is little to be said about how long it takes for test results. My daughter had a broken foot and between trauma, X-ray, CT scan, and fitting for a cast/ crutches, we were there for over 12 hours. That is absolutely unacceptable.
My baby girl had fell down the front step of our house and hurt her thoracic spine T6-T8, i was scared she would need surgery but thank God she doesn't.. The wonderful nurses and doctors took really good care of my baby girl....
Terrible place for people waiting in the ER. They had me waiting out in the hallway on a bed because they said "they were waiting for a room to open up". They also said they would page the doctor to come get me checked out, 3 or 4 hours later, I'm still in the hallway waiting to get checked out with no fluids or any type of help. This place sucks. The staff don't seem to care as they are busy talking to each other. I would much rather go somewhere else.
Appalling level of care at the ER. Our toddler hit her head really bad on a concrete slab floor. Normally I'm a wait-and-watch kind of person, but felt this was serious enough to warrant an ER visit to be sure she was ok. The doctor did nothing except look at her eyes and use a stethoscope. In and out in a minute. We could have just gone to a pediatrician for that, but now we'll be charged a fortune for a single minute of inattention by the doctor.
My scheduled c section was here and our baby boy was delivered 6/19/19. I cant say enough about the amazing staff, nurses and doctors. I m a first time mom and they really helped me through everything, answered all my calls and questions and even held my hand while I was balling my eyes out. 5 stars and I definitely recommend to any parent looking for a good birthing center.
Was treated like an animal. And that was with insurance! Wouldn't recommend anyone to go there for medical attention. Go to UNC hospital to get the proper medical attention needs.
Absolutely the best care I have ever received. After the initial, normal wait, they were some of the most caring health care professionals I have ever dealt with. My nurse...Becca, and Dr Cooper were wonderful.... thank you all
I gave 1 star because I wasn t able to give 0 star. I had my hand blinding for 2 hours after a bad cut. Yes, I waited for two hours doctor John with my hand blinding and hurting a lot. I also had towels and papers beside me with a lot of blood and nobody clean. I live 5 minutes away from the hospital but never come again.
My husband went to the E.R. they were seeing patients in a timely manner. I couldn't stay with him which really bothered me but I understood. He was to be admitted. He spent over 24 hours in the E.R. waiting for a bed. The hospital was completely full. They gave him the option to continue to wait for a bed. Or be transfered to Wake Med North. Which he did. Everyone at both hospitals were very professional. They must have been stressed to the limit. But every one was calm and nice. Mask and social distancing guidelines were followed.
I found this health care facility rendered excellent care for me as a patient. All of the staff were very personable even the security officer. Doctors and nurses are excellent.
The doctors, nurses, and other medical staff have been good. I have no complaints with them. However their administration such as billing and insurance are terrible! Last year I had a heart attack and a stroke and my insurance cancelled. Rex Hospital was more than welcome to help me with assistance. At Rex I had a Rex Assist agent that was always more than willing to call if I had questions. WakeMed there was nothing like that. I was only given a form to fill out and basically told me to hope for the best. I didn't have it and now I have a $32,000 bill. Now I got a phone call saying that I need to take care of the bill. The problem is that I am taking care of the bill with regular payments. Bottom Line: Go to a real compassionate hospital like Rex. Because WakeMed are only a business that wants to take your money
I don't understand why you have to pay to park?? As if you're not charging the patient's enough. You're already charging up the a$$ for every little thing and then you want to charge to park to see a sick relative. This is unbelievably greedy of an already greedy system. You get to charge $200 for a tylenol and then have the gall to ask people to give you more money to park?! Un freaking believable.
If you are pregnant and ever involved in a car accident, NEVER go to this facility for your care! It was horrible from waiting in the waiting room for over an hour to lack of communication with the doctors and nurses. I had never seen the same person twice! One doctor came and said think we re going to need blood work that never happened. I advised that I didn t feel any movement from the baby and still waited over an hour and a half for ultrasound. My blood pressure wasn t being monitored regularly and not once did anyone ask are you okay ? The room I was in had old dried up blood all over the floor and the chair/table was so uncomfortable! One doctor examined my belly and let the leg part of the table down before assisting me to sit up! Mind you no one ever introduced themselves. I can go on and on for the 8 hours that i was there about the laughing and joking of other patients instead of treating them all the way to the talk of vacationing to chile that went on in the hallway! Oh and one guy said so the cut off is 22 weeks so we re not going to monitor you in labor and delivery ! The cut off from what sir? He pretty much said anything before 22 weeks is not important! Yeah if I m on my dying bed please don t take me to this place!
No one ever wants to be in the hospital, but if that is where you find yourself then here is where you want to be. From the Emergency department to all of the Nurses, nurses aids, doctors, phlebotomists, social workers, and everyone else who helped with my care. I wish I could go back and give each one a huge hug and tell them THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for making the worst experience in my life not so bad. If the staff at Wakemed actually reads this I'd appreciate it if you'd find out who those people are and PLEASE tell them what I said.
During my Time in WakeMed, I have had nothing but Positive experience with the Heart ICU area. They taken care of me and help me in any way I was needing. Treated my Wife with Respect and myself included. This Hospital has come a long way from what these others were commenting on. The Doctor's were Top Notch and did Everything for me. I think the others weren't in WakeMed and just thought they were. For my Experience there rated out of a 10 scale is Perfect 10.
WakeMed recently reported an account to collections that I had been paying $200 per month on for well over 6 months. If someone is actively paying on their account, they should not be reported to collections to have this negatively impact their credit. In the future, if I need hospital services and have a choice in where I go, I will not choose WakeMed. I learned that they automatically report people to collections if they are not on a payment plan...they said it is computer generated and the computer cannot discern whether or not someone is paying. How ridiculous is that? WakeMed has no qualms ruining someone's credit who is actively paying their bills. Disgusting. If I could give them 0 stars, I would.
