Excellent theater with top actors. The productions are not necessarily my taste.

Modern, young theater in a classic guise with classics and new plays, since the renovation again very comfortable and technically up to date.

The Volkstheater, founded in 1889, is one of the largest theaters in Vienna. The intention of the founders was to bring art and culture closer to the people at affordable prices.
In the course of history some modifications were made. There were a few bomb hits during World War II, but everything was rebuilt in its original state.
The stage area is still in its original condition and only the seats have been repeatedly adapted to a modern standard over the course of time. Originally it was around 1800, today it is around 830.
The Volkstheater is to be completely renovated from 2019.

In addition to the "theater" there is also the "red saloon". This is used as a buffet on match days, but can also be rented separately as an event room.

We were at an event in the Volkstheater. The transport connections by underground and trams are very good. Due to the location in the heart of the city, there are also all possibilities for an after drink in the immediate vicinity.

A theater to feel good. More like family. Very good productions. Super stage set. Highly recommended from personal experience.

An old Viennese theater that has not slept through the train in modern times you delight the audience with current topics and there is also a good following for it it is close to the ring and is an interesting house

The redesign of the parterre is extremely unhappy. The acoustics have become very bad. In addition, the atmosphere of the house suffers. Still good buffet in the red bar.

Great theater with great actors and a nice RED BAR.

A beautiful setting, not ideal for an event like TedX when it comes to distributing food to a large number of people at the same time ... or at least it would have been better done differently. Oh yes, and that you absolutely have to leave the hall during the breaks, I also find it a slight imposition in view of the few comfortable places to stay outside.

It is also known as "People's Theatre" as it was built to the request of the people of Vienna.

Again (!) Great theater, good actors and a great play. The "defense of democracy" makes you want more popular theater!

My rating only refers to the Red Bar, where I once again was tango dancing yesterday. A very noble, yet homely ambience in classicist style, in a side wing of the Volkatheater, which is used for various cultural events.

Because I practically live around the corner, I just go there often. Most recently in 1984 after George Orwell, which was really disturbing given the timeliness.

You are looking for theater for entertainment? Modern pieces in the heart of the city? Then this is a good place. The building reflects the charm of the Viennese theater scene and is a bit of a different time. Young people together with seasoned theatergoers make the audience. We liked it.

With the new director, it is worth going back to the Volkstheater. Selection of the plays and the quality of the actors is brilliant. Last time I saw 'Nathan the Wise'. Played with the original language Lessings- only recommended.

Endstation Sehnsucht very interesting staging good presentation

Very nice old theater, wonderful architecture. With & choice of places you should make sure that the view is not the same everywhere, there are some columns and balconies, behind which you have to turn your head pretty. Overall, but a beautiful theater with interesting repertoire!

Wonderful theatre, not too big, not too small, the spaces for the audience are a bit like a labyrinth

Truly the best opera house I have ever been to in terms of sheer magnificence. One s mere presence puts the person in awe by all the decorations and of course the acts are usually surreal. The only downside is that not all the seating areas are good, some of them have practically a third of the stage out of sight.

Freshly renovated from the outside, the Volkstheater has a new look.

The theater as a building is beautiful. It would be 5 stars for the house and a maximum of 1 star for those responsible.

Was surprised that the seats were decimated, but it is certainly better for the occupancy and the ascending seating brings a better view and looks very good. Sometimes very good actors, the pieces sometimes better, sometimes expandable.

I haven't seen such a rubbish like last Sunday in the Volksstheater for a long time.

Great to see and hear such casual musicals in these venerable rooms. An extremely successful evening, in addition to great actors and musicians also very friendly, helpful staff, the "first time visitors" everything necessary shows.

Had a rest area ticket and great seats. Good location and nice theater (architecturally). The play was also very well staged and played.
