Nothing will work under this direction! Many have already canceled their subscription and we will soon too! The Volkstheater is not a rehearsal stage! We have had the subscription for 40 years but it's never been like that!

One star down in absence of air conditioning resp. poorly functioning air conditioning - do not even go there without a fan in the summer, there is not much to breathe there at the end of the performance.

One of the beautiful Viennese theaters, externally a very well preserved ancient style building, very beautiful inside and well lit. I went there as a tourist just to see it and I didn't see any shows, so I can't judge the acoustics, however it is, really amazing.

Great place to get off the metro to see hofburg, the music festival where you can also eat and shoot all the most famous museums. Also for those staying at a hotel in the ottakring area, there is the corresponding stop.

Historical building. Nice ambience. Good acoustics. It's very narrow in the balcony. There was no ventilation. I was sweating and suffering. Too bad. Maybe next time I should sit down?

We saw Lazarus from David Bowie. An interesting first performance in German language. The music in English. A weird show, which is partly reminiscent of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, but also got a draft in the final. Actually not a musical, because they have rather shallow music. The music of Bowie was partly awesome. Above all, Life on Mars sung excellently. Starman and many other songs from Bowie's extraterrestrial phase would have worked well. All performers very good. Great that the folk theater brings such plays to the performance.

The Volkstheater has a lot to offer. Classical pieces staged in a modern way, interesting first performances, a great ensemble, me actors who can also sing excellently! No overpriced ticket prices, cheap offers for schoolchildren, students and pensioners. And you also have a good view of the stage from the cheap seats.

One of the classic Viennese theaters. Both classics, some in modern staging, as well as newer pieces are played. Cast is always great and you can disagree on productions.

The theater itself has a classic design, the rows of seats are rather narrow, in the auditorium it is usually very warm. During the break is a small buffet available, but with many visitors can not cope. After the performance, you can visit the Red Bar or one of the many restaurants in the area.

A very traditional theater. Both times I was there they've had traditional drama with a modern flavor in stage decoration. Performances themselves were neither outstandingly good or bad. Very academic. Some of the message they bring worths spreading, but the form is not there yet.

David Bowie wrote great music and sang great - nobody can match him. Still great singers (3 men especially great), excellent set design, costumes very retro. Unfortunately bad acoustics - would have fit better in the Theater an der Wien. A successful evening

Super

Culture also for the small budget.
At a premiere I had block seats in the back. Due to the architecture, which is rather high and not to the rear, you could still see really well and enjoy the evening, and for only 7!
The house is also very nice to look at.
All in all worth a visit.
