I love Vista! After many years teaching both higher ed and high school, I have switched textbook programs for all of my Spanish courses because Vista has solid products with decent online workbook, lab and teacher materials, plus the customer service is the very best. Shannon DiStefano is the best rep I have ever worked with.

Yet another predatory textbook publisher that exists only to churn out as many volumes as possible to maximize profits while proclaiming that they're doing great work in the name of education. Here's a newsflash, students cannot "foster an appreciation for world languages and cultures" when they have to pay upwards of $300 for information that rightfully should be public and free. Companies like Vista Higher Learning sustain systems like these to keep education out of the hands of the poor and locked behind walls so that it's only accessible to the privileged individuals who can afford it.

Don't support this company or others like it. Education and information belong to the people.

I had to buy Portales 1 and 2 for my college Spanish classes. Both access codes were priced north of $200. Other Spanish learning applications are much cheaper; their price gouging works because VHL likely forces professors to pay little to nothing, allowing all of the financial burden to be shifted to the students who obviously have no choice. I also do not know of any other language-learning platforms that share their features compete against them. Additionally, the lessons and activities are sometimes hard to understand and don't actually improve Spanish fluency--only immersion and interactive learning can do that.

I was very disappointed with Vista Higher Learning's customer service. They force you to buy the most expensive package instead of allowing you to buy a cheaper package. They totally ripped me off!

They took the money for a wrong course. I called to 800 number, but the students answered the calls. Now I have a court judgement against Vista Higher Learning .
