They are always improving the museum structure and exhibit spaces, it now has a glass atrium entrance that is quit nice. Many well known favourites on display. Exhibits showing work by those who influenced Van Gogh, his contemporaries and those he influenced. They have created some interesting 'selfie spaces' that are in the hallways outside the gallery rooms.Nice visit again!

Do not miss! Excellent presentation on his life and work. Very well organized, and letters to and from him add a lot. His work is dazzling, of course, and also touching. Audio guide is best I have ever used.

What an absolutely amazing tribute to the immortal Van Gogh. It'd be very rude not to visit the museum if you've planned a cheeky trip to Amsterdam as you can truly soak up the blossom of Dutch culture with a visually pleasing tour. I couldn't believe how many pieces of art Van Gogh produced in such a short space of time!! My only disapoinemt with this visit was the fact that Starry Night is not part of the exhibition. Unfortunately the Yanks feel the need to display art that has nothing to do with their newborn culture.

Fantastic museum and well worth the effort in going. You have to buy tickets online in advance for a specific time and date (and depending when you visit, usually several weeks in advance before all the time slots fill up). The audio tour is excellent, well narrated and enough information that you feel it adds something without it moving you along too fast either. The rooms are bare in the house, a decision taken by Otto Frank when he returned to Amsterdam after WW2 but it also helps the sheer volume of people move around. The allocated slots limit numbers but it will still be busy. At the end of the tour is a very moving video about Anne and how she is viewed today.

Lovely museum, nice to look around at the amazing pieces of art work. Very interesting learning more about Van Gogh, his family, friends, life, but for me I can say I've been there once so probably wouldn't go again. A good museum to visit and say you've been.

The museum in general is amazing. They only sell tickets online so there's plenty of space to walk around.
I was with my headphones with some relaxing music and it was delightful.
I made it in 1 hour and I didn't have to rush at all. So, there are 4 floors but it's not quite huge.

Museum is interesting. Internal illumination is very poor in some area and paintings can't be really appreciated. Descriptions of the paints is below minimum, for the price you would expect more explanations and descriptions. No translation of the letters, if you can't read Dutch, you need to listen to them (15 minutes each), which is not really an option. Placing a English translation would not be that difficult.

Arguably one of the most intelligently curated collections you can see. The walls contain the works that inspired the Van Gogh right next to it. Excellent way to really understand his context, life, and inspirations. Buy your tickets in advance. They will probably let you in a little before your timestamp slot. No pictures and you coat-check your bags. Even with the ticket control, it is a very popular place and can become crowded.

The museum is excellent even the exterior really close to the Rijksmuseum. You have to buy your tickets in advance online or with the city sightseeing staff (red buses). Otherwise, you're not going to be able to access there. Arrive there 15 minutes previous to your time ticket, the museum is really crowded.
You'll have to leave your bagpack at the ground floor because it's not allowed to go inside with it. Moreover it's forbidden to take pictures or video in the galleries, there's a lot of security.
Definitely worth seeing the Van Gogh's sunflowers in full color, an unforgettable experience!

Great place to experience some exceptional art. Very distinctive building too, but didn't find the time to appreciate the museum's structure much on a quick 2-ish hour visit.
I went for the Sunflowers, but came back captivated by the beauty of the Almond Blossoms.
You tend to remember Van Gogh as the eccentric who cut off his own ear.
But the museum does a fantastic job of highlighting something else - that he had the tenacity and drive to work through some of the darkest periods of his life - and produce sunshine while his life probably had very little.
Also super interesting how most of his fame is due to his sister-in-law who continued to promote his work after he passed away.

Excellent museum. A must see while in Amsterdam. I would highly recommend looking into getting a museumkaart if you are planning on visiting multiple museums in the Netherlands. It ll basically get you into every museum for free and costs about the entrance of two museums.

Definitely a must-do while in Amsterdam, learnt so much about Van Goph s life and art, it was very interesting. Make sure to buy tickets online beforehand, although there were still plenty available for the same day. Nice flow to each floor, although the stairs were very crowded and should be wider to accommodate the amount of people there. Although helpful, staff were not friendly and seemed quite unhappy to be working and a little rude. Apart from that, a really great experience.

Amazing place, full of Van Gogh art, info about his life, of what inspired him and all of his progress as an Artist. The museum is made so well, with clear info signs and a wardrobe area where you can leave your umbrellas, jackets, purses and backpacks. Unfortunately luggages and suit cases(even the small ones) are not permitted in the museum ad you might get refused to get in even if you already paid for the tickets if you bring your suitcase with you. There is an underground parking nearby where there is a place for suitcases to be stored during your visit in the museum but it is for an additional place. We were lucky to be able to admire almost all of his main paintings such as the potato eaters and almond tree in blossom. There were also some Gaugin operas and other painters who were inspired by Van gogh. There is a souvenirs store with a wide selection of gifts you can bring home to remember this amazing experience. It has a lift and all the facilities for people on wheelchairs and families. Mind that the group tour entrance is not where the main entrance to the museum is.

This was a great place to explore Van Gogh and see his progression in style and technique. The museum has a layout that is easy to navigate. It's also fantastic that the museum is free for under 18s. The only negative experience is the crowd. We were there on July and despite the reservation and staggered entry time, it was difficult to really enjoy the works of art.

This was an amazing museum and so glad I had the privilege and opportunity to check this out while in Amsterdam!
As everyone probably already knows make sure you reserve your spot well in advance of showing up! Do not expect to get tickets the day of or even the week of..as they will more than likely be sold out!
The museum is laid out nicely and provides a great overview on the life and works of Van Gogh. The little tidbits of knowledge on the plaques are great to read, and the staff provides assistance if/when its needed.
The addition of their in house cafe is also nice as they have a great selection of foods. Prices are decent, but a bit higher than what you would pay normally (makes sense considering its in the museum).
This is a must see, and you cannot NOT go here when you're in Amsterdam.

Some paintings that are hanged on top of the others can not be enjoyed due to the reflecting lights.

Very large with impressive collection of artwork. Staff all friendly and helpful. Huge queue when upon entry (even though we booked a timeslot) which resulted in a 15-minute wait, but no queue when we left so assume it's not the norm. Very busy inside, which made seeing some of the exhibits time-consuming/frustrating (was a Saturday early afternoon though, which explains high demand), but overall a good experience.

Get your tickets online before the day! I was surprised to see such a long line even though the tickets can be purchased online. This museum is a must-see. If you had to pick one, this is it (Rijksmuseum, a close second, of course). I usually don't get the audio tour, but a friend highly recommend it and it was definitely worth the 5 Euro! I was an art major and took a lot of art history, but the museum and the audio tour opened an entire new world for me on Van Gogh.

A wonderful small museum. To get in, you need to reserve tickets. We hadn't, so we hired a guide. Despite the cost, it was worth it. The story of Vincent is complicated, twisted, and gripping. We learned a lot, and the collection is, of course, fantastic!

Love the Van Gogh museum. It's fairly-priced and very well laid out - even for non-artistic individuals like my family and I. We learnt lots of fascinating information about the artist himself as well as his family background, upbringing and his later descent into madness and eventual tragic demise. The gift shop on the ground floor proffers a wife range of Van Gogh related paraphernalia at very affordable prices. There is also a cafe and a store room for bags and coat. It is the most visisted tourist hotspot in Amsterdam, so booking in advance is pretty much mandatory.

Airy, full of light, organised. I think I got a bit emotional at the end thanks to the multimedia guide (do rent one, you will not regret it). The best museums is a museum with focus. This museum does a great job focusing on one artist and his influences. As you ascend the stories of this museum you will move chronologically through his life till you eventually end at his death on the top story. By doing so not only do we see his progress as an artist we also walk in his footsteps through the eventful journey his life took. Definitely worth the visit.

The first thing to remember about this museum is that there is no photraphy allowed. The second thing is that you are forced to listen to obnoxious employees saying "No photos!" over and over and giving loud lectures to anyone who so much as raises a cellphone.

A very good collection and mostly also very nicely placed so you can see the paintings both from a distance and very close. However, the place is very popular and crowded. Very good shop and also the possibility to print out any of the artworks! Very good multimedia guide. Good cafe. Lockers are located just next door (this wasn't so obvious to me from museum's website).

Definitely a place to visit. If you are in a rush, you better postpone it. There is a lot to see and a lot to learn, obviously from his work but also from his life. It's amazing how influential can someone be after being dead for so long. It's the typical story of an artist being more famous and decorated after his death.

Great museum that provides you with the most complete story, works and letters of Vincent Van Gogh. The works are divided according to Van Gogh's Dutch and French period and also provides a great insight into his contemporaries and how they influenced him and vice versa.
