Vincent A Restaurant Review

OK food, moderately high prices and very slow service. Visited with my wife and daughter on a moderately busy Sunday afternoon. Brief wait to sit and quick service taking our order (breakfast). Food arrived an hour or so after our order was taken and we had to rush through eating as we had somewhere to be about two hours after we'd entered the diner. If they were extremely busy I would understand it being a bit slow, but an hour to serve up eggs and pancakes is ridiculous.

Awful service. Slow and rude. Sat for 30 minutes and no one came to wait on us. Gave us attitude when we asked.

If they knock out that Kmart, the 18 will the a straight shot to this diner. They should do this

I always get the fried chicken and waffles with red eye gravy and a boozy Avalanche shake that has baileys and kahlua in it. My favorite any time of the day eatery!

The food is good enough, the service is subpar most days, and the location can be a bit sketchy.

100% a fan of that New York Cheescake. Please never get rid of it. I've been all around the cities looking for the best one for the price, and I think I may have found it.

Sat at the new (at least to me) back bar and had great service from Bart. A second beer arrived late, but was comped due to the place being packed. Understandable -- thanks for the good service!

It's always a great experience at The Nicollet Diner

Waited for 15 minutes in line, got seated seats was dirty, waited 1hour for food, food got to table long piece of black hair was on omelet my waiter lied and told them he didn't see the long black hair after I showed it to him grits was cold the butter wouldn't even melt on it never again you will be better off cooking your own food at home in the back the lady in back who puts the food up she was wiping sweat from her forehead and didn't have on no hair net never again the health department needs to come in.

Unfriendly staff. Would only recommend if you don't have any other food options.

Those milkshakes are out this world! Staff is awesome!!

The food was terrible and was overpriced I would suggest no one go there to eat.

Sat there for 15 minutes with no greeting, no beverage. Two other parties were sat on either side of me and were immediately taken care of. Being a solo diner may mean a smaller ticket, but it also means someone with nothing else to do aside from watch the staff ALL avoid eye contact with me and try to pass the buck. I ultimately left without ordering anything. I doubt I'll be returning anytime soon. The new addition of the bar and whatnot has seriously damaged the standing of the clientele, as well as apparently eroded the staff's basic skillset as SERVERS

It's always a vibe at the nicollet Diner! No matter the time of day, the staff are always pleasant and the food is always hot. You can always count on a diverse crowd at the diner!

Always go if you have the chance. Great staff and huge portions! Try the soda!!

The food is really good but they need better waitresses.

A bit disappointed. Food prep is never consistent, I usually order the same thing and it come out differently all the time....pancakes are spongie and chewie. Bloodie marry is very salty.....

Not food related but wanted to give a little interior decorating advice. The atmosphere could use a little something, punch up the color on the walls. Maybe a nice yellow. The blue-grey walls create a monochromatic malaise of color with the other blues and greys of the tables, counters, floors, and booths. By God, I think yellow would do it!

Food was okay but not really worth what you paid. Also, it seemed like they had one girl running the entire front end so our service was very slow. Took an extra 30 mins to get out after we finished our meal.

Food smelt good, looked good, but I couldn't never get it. Sat and sat with no service. Place seemed to have been run by a bunch of clown babies........

Very nice staff, even when faced with a seemingly overwhelming takeout crowd at night.

Convenient, relatively affordable and good food. The breakfast buffet (not sure how often that is offered) was the best meal I ever had there and I d totally come back for that alone someday. Servers take their job seriously, are professional and polite and my friends and I like being able to come here late at night or whenever.

Not so good experience. Ordered a breakfast to go. Waited 45 min for the "All American Plate". The place wasn't that busy with customers, but there were alot of employees running around doing busy work. Honestly, how long does it take to make scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, bacon and toast?

Next day unfortunately had to return. The Gay Pride Parade was ocuring and most eateries were closed. All I wanted was a bacon cheese burger and fries, TO GO. Even though the establishment was completely filled with patrons, I was told that I could not order TO GO (TAKE OUT). Waitress explained that due to the Gay Pride weekend, I was welcome to wait for seating and dine in, but no food would be prepared for take out. Go figure.

Great uncomplicated food. Most everything they make is homemade, onsite. They have awesome malts and shakes! Within walking distance of the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Managers of this place should be fired. Service is awful, food is aweful. No cohesiveness between the employees. Took 30 minutes to talk to a waiter, and we were at diner counter... Once our order was placed took forever and it was wrong, and what they did get right wasn't any good, like it was left out to dry. And when I asked for the "simple" jalapenos that I wanted on top, the cook kept arguing with the waiter that that isn't part of the premade "mix". No wonder my chicken was super dry.... So he brought me some jalapenos to put on myself, and they were frozen. I recommend going somewhere else.

Im a doordasher and always when l get they judge you or looking mad l will never eat there with my family because the way they judge to other people they nice but doordash is helping deliver food we come to make our job not to play or wait like a hour on waiting for food had to cancel 2 orders cuz they dont help you just one person this place sucks theres a guy that has a belt but his pants are almost falling like really its a job if l was working like that l would of got sent home smh this place sucks

My favorite go to mild sauce buffalo wings stop everytime I go to Minneapolis. The wings are fried well and there's enough with the order to share. The atmosphere will surprise you too. Give it a try especially later in the evening.

Great outdoor dining service! I was able to have my dog with me.

Good place to go at all hours, served from breakfast to lunch and dinner. Good to go in a group. We tried the barbarian challenge and it was quite a show. I recommend it to live what is a typical dinner in Minneapolis. Good quality price and the dishes are good portion.

Great breakfast food, open 24 hours. They have a Barbarian challenge which is comprised of an enormous pancake and side dishes, which if eaten in 60 min, is free.

My favorite dinner. I've never had anything I disliked. Plus boozy milk shakes.

3 Different Types of White Gravy to go along with amazing Chicken Fried Steak, Skillets and the best MALTS you can get!! This place is a staple of Minneapolis and have you ever really eaten drunk food in the Twin Cities if you haven't eaten it here?!?

Great customer service. Way to pricey. $38.00 for 2 burgers and a frie. Plus tipped $7.00. Total $45.00.The food is good but very average. No WOW.
The side of 1 pancakesomeone ordered about $ 9.00.Everything on the menu has an extra large charge to add cheese or other items.
Reg. coffee is way pricey,well above the cost of a good coffee at coffee shops.
The plus...It offers alcoholic drinks and is the only resteraunt before down town. Also open 24 hours.

Really friendly waitress. Location was perfect and it came recommended by several locals.

So been here a few times. Different experiences each time. Do not go at bar close. We waited 2 hours, never got food... So we left. Another time, went with 6 people at like 630p on a weeknight and it was great.

Terrible service today. Eggs were undercooked and the toast burnt. Server never inquired how our food was and didn't thank us for coming in.
We left $0.00 for a tip.

Good service, the food was good and we appreciated that the cook went out of her way to make our kids pancakes Mickey mouse shaped :)

Just paid for a "bowl" of soup rather than a cup, and it's smaller than a cup of coffee. Wondering how small the "cup" is...

Pretty busy on a Sunday morning, so a slight wait for service and food but our server (who I think was the bartender?) Was AMAZING, kindest person I've encountered in service in a long time. Oh, the food and drinks are good too.

I had lunch on Saturday. I enjoyed the fish and chips, the only problem was it was too much food. The staff was great. The diner was busy but got our food in a short time. Definitely return!!

The breakfast burrito was delicious. Service was good. Kevin really knows how to cook hash browns correctly. The restrooms were like visiting a third-world country.

A pretty typical diner really. Service was fast and very friendly. Food was good and typical diner fare. Decent bloody Mary's from their full bar, and local craft beers on tap. Reasonable prices as well. If I lived in Minneapolis, I could see this being my favorite breakfast spot.

Enjoyed the Nicollet Diner. Open 24/7 which is unique. Fun environment, with a throwback feel to the interior. Very polite and helpful staff.

Ordered the Wakin' Bakin' Burger. A very good burger, but not the best breakfast burger I have ever had. The patty could have used some extra spice.

Option to double your burger - Highly Recommend to anyone who is looking for a serious burger. Would have gone home hungry with a regular sized burger.

Underwhelmed by the Lady Godiva Specialty Malt. I was hoping for something special and unfortunately did not find it. For a regular malt, everything I would have wanted, do not know if this should be considered a specialty.

Review a 7/10. Price and Disappointing Malt is holding the Nicollet Diner back from a 10/10.

We were walking in the area and popped in for a late lunch, food hit the spot! Just your classic American diner food, and they seem to have a partnership with the next door business? I don't remember seeing much parking, but the place was pretty full even at 2-3pm

A little beat up on the inside but food was worth it

1st I ordered a turkey open face sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy all homemade even the gravy. 2nd I ordered French fries with the skin on the tips with some nice size spicy jerk seasoned wings for my son. 3rd I had a wipped cream topping hot fudge cherry malt made with real cherries. The cooks made all the food a wsome I must say I am hard to please. Around 8:30-9:30pm it's mellow and not to many people. They also have multiple tv's above the bar which was showing the playoff game. My server was Andrew.K ask for him he has awesome hospitality. This place is also kid friendly with coloring utensils them and 2 different kinds of booster seats. Service was a wsome will defenatly be back again. They also have adult milk shakes and drinks as well.

Nice place, but I will never get pancakes there anymore. The pancakes were large as the plate and they were not done in the middle. No more breakfast for me.It happened twice.

Probably the best food ever...every time I come to this diner (rare occasions) I wonder why I haven t been here more often. We were also served in a timely manner that s always a plus . Friendly staff and awesome food. Steak and Eggs were great

Food is great and the servers are amazing! The atmosphere is also pretty incredible; great music taste, and an old fashioned diner set up. Highly recommend!
Edit: I noticed a really cool thing when I went in on Saturday night. My bill was a bit higher than normal, but one of my friends had pointed out that they have added on a "health and wellness" section into our bill in order to pay for employees health insurance. How cool is that, though?! It was a tiny amount, only about .45 on an 18$ tab, but to know that our waiters and waitresses are being taken care of warms my heart. Thanks nicollet diner, I hope the rest of our jobs follow suit!

Very good food tonight good service some times slow.

Good true dinner food, open 24hrs and it has a full service bar...how can you go wrong! Parking can be challenging, weekends the line is LONG to get a table. Service can be spotty but lately it's been great!
