The reviewers who are saying that the food takes FOREVER are NOT over exaggerating! My mistake for not reading reviews before going in hungry. Hungry or not it shouldn't have taken more than 30 MINUTES (maybe even more) for two burgers with fries! We went around 11PM - They had closed half section, the back section and all tables weren't occupied, 4 - 5 booths were occupied and one person at the tabletop. Looked to me they were pretty well staffed. Our waitress decided that it wasn't important to inform us why the food was taking longer than normal. Perhaps the 30+ minute wait for food is probably normal to them, but not to anyone else whose been to other diners/restaurants. I wouldn't be surprised if that business loses a lot of money from wasting food that's taking too long to be served. My boyfriend and I literally said F it and just walked out since no one had the courtesy to come check in on us. Unfortunately, I will never return or recommend this diner to anyone.

I will preface this review with the disclosure that my fiance and I were starving when we walked into the Nicollet Diner. She built a burger. I had chicken fried steak and was taken to hash brown town (add cheddar, onion, green pepper, bacon and sour cream to your hash browns). Everything was as good or better than we could have expected, especially the hash browns. Imo, great downtown diner.

Service was bad. Coffee was consistently served cold. Not once was my water was refilled. All the food was mediocre and burned.

It's a diner, a good one at that, but it's still just a diner. Temper your expectations and you'll enjoy yourself just fine. The food was decent for the price range (I personally love their cheese curds) and the atmosphere is higher energy than most diners.

Long wait to order or even get acknowledged, & staff seemed more concerned with themselves & their personal networking than non-regular customers.

The only place to go at 2am. The food fills your stomach while leaving your wallet full as well. Eggs benedict is the way to go.

Amazing service, they saved our milkshakes from breakfast that we couldn t finish in the cooler for us to pick up later! Food and staff are wonderful!

Overall decent food, over priced, and long long long wait times. I recently bought takeout from the nicollet park diner and payed $20 for an omelette and coffee. In my opinion, that is an absurd price unless your eating out at the finest 5 star restaurant in town. Following my purchase, I began my long, eternal wait period. I was 20 minutes in, when I noticed a girl walked in and was brought her food almost instantaneous to when she walked in. On top of all that, I ordered a latte in which they did not have apparently once my food was ready so I had to opt for a no so great cup of coffee. BAD SERVICE, UNLESS UR RICH AND LIKE WAITING AN HOUR FOR FOOD, AND CANT GET THE ORDER YOU WERE PROMISED.

Great food, but an odd smell when we first walked in.

This place is fantastic! Great food and fast and friendly service. Our server Nathan was a great guy. Very sweet and funny. Love the Minnesoda's!!! Highly recommended this place!

It s hit or miss. We gave this place a second try before reviewing. First visit, the place was empty and service was terrible. So we gave it another try, albeit final four weekend - it was really busy. Super friendly staff this time and fortunately we brought our patience. Food was pretty good for standard breakfast items and the menu was ambitious with its prices. Plenty of options.

Good food. Great diner. Really versatile- diner in center, coffee shop at one end and bar on other end- has everything you want! Great concept. Decent price. Only criticism is there was only two servers in the entire place and we waited quite a while if we needed anything since it was understaffed. Would recommend- it's a good stop.

Delivery guy next to me said his pickup was not ready.

My own issue was that I ordered coffee and was told to go to coffee shop attached to The Nicollet Diner and then the guy told me the coffee was not made yet and to go back to the The Nicollet Diner and then another person grabbed me a cup of coffee.

I go here often with my family, the server Nathan is so nice! However I ordered takeout for my brother and I today and my Jolly Roger didn t have the cranberry cream cheese on it, which kind defeats the purpose. Besides that this place is great!

The staff at this clean, well kept diner are always so nice. The bathrooms here are always clean and tidy . No matter what time of the day you stop by to have a bite to eat.

Bad. Can't do less then 1star. Fries were cold and under cooked. Got stuck on the coffee house side. I was there with my sons and had to listen to A very loud drunk the whole time. Took over an hour and ten minutes from sitting down till like warm food came out. Malts took 20 minutes after ordering.

$20.21 Breakfast Burrito, Coffee, and Hashbrown that I did not order. Your meal will take about 20-30 minutes and will get cold before you are done eating. Look forward to a return visit.

I was there the other day. The server didn't seem interested in taking our orders. We had to wait 10 minutes to get her to come to ask what we want to drink. Then she took a whillr to come get our food order. I asked for a full order of onion rings for our table. I got half order. I love Nicollet diner but disappointed in the service.

It was really busy and took awhile, but every one was still in a good mood and the burger was great. I want to go back

Great food and great services; also great size meals. No complaints at all.

It took over an hour and a half. The biscuits and gravy were horrible and burnt. The whole menu was also very I we priced.

Cute updated retro vibe. Had corned beef skillet. Very good, crispy hashbrowns good corned beef. Server was attentive and friendly.

Kicking myself for not coming in here sooner. Food and service was great, much better than other options near them that I have been eating at.

I hadn't been to this place in a long time but gave it another go after over a year. Nothing has changed.
Place is poorly managed both in the front of house and back, overly long ticket times(only 2 cooks on a busy Saturday morning), very slow service(because the poor servers literally do everything), disorganized chaotic atmosphere, due to no hired host to control the flow. This stems directly from the owners caring only about their bottom line and nothing else. Too bad this location deserves better and had so much potential to be great.

I was seated at the stools when I went to Nicollet Diner around 9:30pm on a Monday night. Weren't many people in the diner, pretty quiet, and about 4 waiters and waitresses were staffing the place. I wasn't acknowledged for TWENTY minutes while I waited. Didn't even bring me a menu or ask if I wanted a beverage or water. I had to ask for a menu. All of them saw me, looked at me while they passed me, and knew I was there.

This kind of thing is common at Nicollet Diner. The customer service is so poor it's pathetic. The waitstaff giggled and chatted with each other while hot food was waiting at the kitchen counter and customers were waiting. One of the cooks came out and took his old mountain dew bottle and put the soda hose right on it and filled it with soda in front of customers.

I just moved in nearby and was planning on making Nicollet Diner a regular stop; won't be bringing my business back.

Nicollet Diner is one of the best places in Minneapolis to get a bite to eat. Reasonably priced and amazing food every single time. Plus the staff is friendly and inviting. A must if you are visiting Minneapolis or you live here and have never been.

Nice place to dine in and take out. Due to covid-19, they have precaution measures in place.

Staff only cares for the dinners seating at tables takes them forever to come to the pickup window even after I called and told them I was at the window. My food was sitting on the table getting cold and I had to wait because a customer need to be lead to his booth and another need a top off of coffee. When my food was done and paid for just sitting there getting cold and stale. When staff came to window they were very rude to the delivery drivers also waiting at the window near me .

Good selection of sandwiches; didn't really check the menu for other items. Obviously LGBT friendly.

Ok atmosphere. Bacon is amazing and pancakes are good. Hashbrowns were very blah and the eggs werent very good. The strawberry smoothie is pretty bad also. Ice and syrup it tastes like. Drinks are super spendy.

My friend and I were visiting Minneapolis and came upon this diner. After an early flight, 9 miles of walking around the city all day, and attending a concert we found ourselves starving at 11pm. Our server, Arianna, was so sweet and funny! We ordered chicken tenders, fried cheese curds, and pancakes all of which were quickly delivered and SO delicious! We were literally moaning while eating and she thought we were hilarious. Nice inside and awesome food! Thank you!!

Absolutely abysmal BLAT... The lettuce was both soggy and limp, yet both dried so much it was crisp and brown on the edges from the heat lamp, the fries were dark brown and obviously overcooked, and the side of ranch this was served with was STEAMING when I opened it! I understand keeping food under the heaters..... But perhaps not for this long, and not for something with cold items on top. If I could rate this a zero right now, I would. I'm ashamed right now, I love telling people this restaurant is bomb.
But tell me, would YOU eat this?

Add more garlic to the garlic deep fried mushrooms, please. They were good- I just like garlic.

Service was slow in an empty restaurant. But the food was great.

6:55 am on a Sunday.. counters and tables not cleaned, only 3 tables and 4 people at the counter. At least 8 staff not counting cooks. Was sat fast, then well over 5 minutes to even be greeted, all while staff were conversing and not serving. After ordering coffee and food..took 5 min to get coffee...which was 15 paces away..so about a 30 second item to walk fill walk...I'm in for a convention, food was good, prices in line with a downtown venue, but if you want better then garbage service, go elsewhere. Still tipped over 20%, but it was service that demanded 1 penny in order to send a message. If i owned this place i'd consider firing management, and get better leaders.

A great little local diner. Good for lunch. Great breakfast. I love the location. It gets very busy late nights and mornings.

This is a good place for breakfast if you're nearby. It's an old fashioned diner with all the regular offerings. Food is good and reasonably priced.

This is just another diner with restaurant price points. Food is solid. Service is good. Prices are about 10-15% too high.

Great diner short walk from Millenium and Hyatt hotels. Friendly servers, extensive menu. Eggs Benedict were so good. Husband had the breakfast quesadilla-loved it. Woule definitely be a good back place if we lived in Minneapolis.

It's a bit expensive but you pay for the great service and awesome tasting food. The staff is very courteous and attentive. Love this place. I will go back as often as I can afford to.

Zero stars for me. This is one the worst places that I have ever eaten. First and last time. Who in the hell is cooking the food. I wonder if it some ol joe off the street. I want a refund for $35.00. The service is absolutely horrible.

Friendly service and delicious food. Handling COVID protocols with lots of distancing and a delivery window for takeout/pickup. Every menu item has a real photo on their website and comes exactly as advertised. Not sure if they're under new management, but I used to avoid this place like the plague and now I think I might need ty make it a regular spot!

Very friendly staff. Romi (hope I spelled that correctly) was more than accommodating. Very warm person and made sure me and my family were comfortable. Our server Jessica was amazing as well! was amazing as well.

I got the campfire malt. Best malt I've ever had! And the full malt was enough for two people!

Super pleased with our breakfast food. Tasted delish and I asked for extra crispy hash browns and they were perfect. Food is as ready super quickly. We will def be ordering from here again!

This was my first time here. The service was excellent and the food (we had breakfast) was amazing! Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal (the cheese curds are highly recommended) and if we are ever in Minneapolis again, we will definitely be back!

Coffee is good. Food is varies. May come out good, may come out horrendous. Order at your own risk. Food order may come out right or wrong. Chai is wayyyyyy too sweet.

Ridiculous prices, horrendous service, awful wait time and mediocre food. Honestly am dumbfounded how this place has managed 4 stars with over 1000 reviews. Standards are not high I suppose.

Food is AWESOME. My burger was to die for. Only downside- they were PACKED- food took FOREVER to come out!
