The bef was very comfortable, as I relaxed during a busy weekend attending a wedding and am amazingly grateful for the staff that that saw the bag we'd mistakenly ledt on the curb. They were kind enough to take it in and send it back to me as soon as possible.

Here for a conference. Rooms for conference were big enough to hold event and main food room as well. Staff was very friendly.
Room needs updating, fridge did not work, carpet is old and grout needs to be re done in bathroom.
Chairs and couches in hallways need to be replaced as well. Food was OK! Breakfast was buffet style from the 80 s and the menu for dinner was old too. The place must have been something special at some point. It still can be if they updated rooms and menus.

Over priced

Over priced
No microwave in the rooms
Everything closes at 10 pm even on a Saturday
No outside activities working, no ice tubing, no horseback riding not even horses for my babies to at least see them.
Bouncy houses close way too early 5 pm
On Sunday were close for a private party.
Honestly i could seat here and write for hours but i dont have the time.
Im just being honest so other parents can make the right choice.
Good things, good shows, my kids love the magic show and comedy show. The front desk lady Liza a very sweet and helpful person and Julia from the coffe shop, outstanding service.
Like i said i wish i would have read an honest review so i would have expected so much.
I will keep going to horse rocking ranch, same price range OVER THE TOP SERVICE.
Good luck and i hope ur experience is better than oura.

3.5 stars really. My grandparents had a timeshare here for 30-40 years so I grew up coming here. I haven't been here since the early 2000s though and I wanted to take my kids here, you know, keep the tradition going. Anyway, the positive More

Despite it being a lousy weather day..rain..we had a very enjoyable time. The meal I had (pork dinner) was delicious, hot and appealing. Enjoyed remembering during the trivia challenge, too. But the highlight was the American Bandstand Review which topped off the day! Been here before and will look forward to returning.

Aug. 2017

Aug. 2017
If those who gave a great review could look past the warm fuzzy feeling of spending another multi-generational family vacation together, they would see the sad neglect and poor quality of service and product found at Villa Roma.

My parents have a timeshare for almost two decades. I have experienced VR at every month of the year. With Camelback Mtn in PA and Resorts World coming around the corner from VR, in Kiamesha Lake, they should be selling service (at a minimum), if they lack the funding for updates.

The managers should be walking around the property managing the employees. Especially during the summer it is evident that no one cares. During bocce, my son and boyfriend were playing under the umbrella. A security guard brought over a chair, fixed our umbrella for himself and away from my son and bf, and sat down to secure the area as he watched nothing.

Doc Holiday doesn't bother showing up for activities, nor making cancellation announcements. I watched for 45 min, as kids arrived for a "Kam Jam" which never happened. I went to the indoor cafe at the outdoor pools and the Cold War theme portions, variety, and atmosphere are successfuly executed. Four onion rings, really??!!! The music at the pool was corrupted and skipping. What a lack of service.

The hotel and timeshare rooms are so dated and worn. The evening entertainment is as old as the Borscht Belt.

In my 20's I worked at a country club and we were professional. VR is sad, has no leadership, and needs to be whipped into shape.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE 6/11/2018

When I go to a hotel or timeshare, I expect my experience, the atmosphere, and quality to be of a higher caliber than I could receive at home. At Villa Roma, a king's price gets you treated like a pauper. The over the top Romanesque decor, at the main hotel and lobby, are indicative of how priorities are not handled properly. The needs of the guests are set aside for the cost of four feature statues at the entrance water fountain.

The crown molding in the master bedroom wasn't complete, it covered almost two walls.

The bathrooms are outdated. There was a hole in the floor next to the toilet base. Getting hot/warm water from the bathroom sinks is a feat. The shower, as always, has no light and feels like a cave.

Villa Roma requires so much in improvements, updates, and upkeep that it's not even a contender when considering the new hotels which have opened up in the area. I feel sorry for those stuck with timeshares and advise anyone seeking a hotel to go elsewhere. After staying at VR, I am happy to be home.

Rough. Most buildings are a long uphill walk - yes they have shuttle vans but at 2am when we arrived they were gone. One of our group even lugged his stuff up the long hill then his key didn't work.

Many of our group had no internet - about half. The rooms are clean but old. The staff are all really cool and helpful but the place is one of the worst hotels we've had in10 years business travel.
I had one shampoo bottle the first day, then it was not replaced until I called 4 days into this nonsense! No frig or coffee/tea machine in the rooms. Weird.

Ive been going to the Villa Roma for 16yrs. When i first started going the place was much nicer n stricter. I do see the place has gone down in the past 5-6yrs. I have a timeshare, they are not cleaned to my standards so when I get there I wash everything / from dishes, silverware to the tub n toilets. When i go on vacation its to relax not do the housekeepers job.
I bring my own plastic shower curtains
N would never sit in the tub. I usually put pen mark on the corner of the sheets to make sure they r changed as they say they do - on weds.
As far as the food goes - i dont deal with the dining rm. Or the club house.
Food is below average. The diner inside the hotel is all frozen food n just microwaved or dropped in boiling water.
Yes they should invest in a real chef.
Most of the time I cook or go to Jeffersonville to go to Teds Diner.-no bargain either.
The go-carts a too pricey.
The outdoor pool- u can never get a lounge chair near the pool n some guests hog like 6 chairs when their ppl.arent even at the pool.
Also they should redue the 1970's bowling alley. Yes, the grounds are lovely. N I see teenagers being too loud after 11pm & have no regard for someone who wants to sleep till 9am &
Parents dont tell them to quiet down.
Also ur allowed one car to ur unit n some guests have 3-4 cars to their unit...my teenage son loves going there -he dont see what I see of course hes a kid, but i dont know how many more yrs Im going to keep coming. They need to make some drastic changes in the place.
Ronnys deli - what a joke at best.
N the Pool grill- omg. Disaster !! smells like wet dog. Not appetizing at all. I want this place to be better n it can be. Id like to cond't to come here.
N i am Italian !

Went off season in Catskills (April 2018); too late to ski and too early to swim outdoors. But at Villa Roma resorts there is golf and for children there s a cool playground. The pool looks like it would be super fun in summer (waterslides). But off season, we went horse back riding, bowling, dined on the premises and drove to Woodstock and Monticello to the new Resorts Works casino and visited the quaint town of Callicoon. The main building has dining and shops. We didn t take advantagebof the gym and indoor racquet courts. The lodges we stayed in really needed updating. Most of the guests seniors and activities are geared to this demographic group so felt like a stay at an assisted living facility. There are shuttles to get people around this sprawling place, which is convenient. Area activities (stores, boutiques, farm and craft markets were not yet open). Dining out options were limited.

Nice family atmosphere except the hotel is very dated and not maintained as it should be, the front statue that is encircled by monument bricks in someones name is sinking in spots and the stairs to get to the statue are also sinking and a potential hazard waiting to happen if it hasn't already happened to some. The timeshare building need to have the trees trimed back and maintained and the gardens around the timeshare buildings also should be spruced up.

It's our same time next year place. We have a time share for 30 years. Love the daily activities. Family oriented. Golfing on property. Pools outdoor and pool indoor. During winter, ski on the Villa Roma slopes. Everything is right there, or take the bus to Monticello racetrack for ponies and/or gambling. Spend some time at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts; and, during season, attend an outdoor concert. Leave the daily grind behind to the getaway in the Catskill Mountains.

Driving in at night was difficult. Back roads were hard to negotiate. Once you arrived it was fine. I would not have found the place without my GPS. Very nice resort with lots to do. We were not in the main building. We we're situate in back of the main. Room was spacious with a couch. There was a shower stall plus a bathtub on the other end of the bathroom. Over all a pretty pleasant stay. Very pretty up here at this time of the year.

I love Villa Roma and have been visiting the resort for almost 25 years and even before I had my children, but now that I have two girls I am even more excited to spend a week at our timeshare with another 60 member of my family all in the same vicinity. My children look forward to their week at Villa Roma and are so accustomed to the grounds and people that it also becomes a great vacation for me and my husband.

There are only two suggestion si would have to helping keep this resort a great vacation spot and that is since many of their timeshare guests are aging, an elevator for those elderly guests who purchased units on the second floor would be a tremendous help. My parents are facing an issue with this and member of my family who have weak legs are also facing the issue of possibly having to give up their timeshares. Also, the night club (where the shows are held) is in dire need of an update. The carpet walls are old and unpleasing tot he eye and maybe some nicer tables and more comfortable chairs for starters. The room hasn't been updated in at least the 25 years I have been visiting the resort.

Other than that. it is a great family spot.

I just returned from Villa Roma and they managed to disappoint me, A family member was badly injured by the pool and there wasn't one staff person to help when he fell the floor with a head injury. Another guest had to help him and call a pool staff person to call for First Aid. The area where he fell is in a major need of repair and we have been informing the hotel about the situation for three years. I think that is enough time to repair the uneven pavers in that area and avoid any more injuries.

This place is so, so terrible. We stayed in the timeshare part of the resort and everything was old, musty smelling and empty. I felt like I was staying in an old nursing home. Food was gross. There was an indoor pool and hot tub. They use so many chemicals that the water bleached my bathing suit - ruined it. I cannot get the smell of bleach off my hands, even after a shower.
The service was also bad. They made me feel like I was imposing when I asked if the woman could give me a quick review of what activities were going on. She also made sure I knew that we were incur a fee for damages... what?! We are a family with kids! There is a huge "SHOPLIFTERS WILL BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW" on the gift shop. Who is staying in this place???
Not worth it... no matter how cheap!!

Our stay here was very nice and relaxing. The food was very good, though a little pricey. We ate at Eleanor's twice, pizza and subs, and that was very good. We looked at the menu provided with the dinner selections for the week at the main dining room and chose which days/meals we wanted to eat there. On some days we ate at Eleanor's or at local restaurants. Our room was dated, but very clean. Everything was in working order, though the air coming out of the AC was pretty damp, but not terribly uncomfortable. We enjoyed the amenities as much as we wanted, we played lots of golf on their golf course and other local ones. The staff was wonderful, we loved the shuttle, and participated only in the events that were of interest to us. Yes, it needs updating but we found nothing to be disgusted about.

Rooms need some serious updating and are not worth the price. They promote having a lot of activities but in actuality there are very limited options. Service at the front desk is terrible but the wait staff are very nice. The food is very average and they have very limited choices in the dining room. They ask for a lot of money to be a guest at there resort so I expected quality service, activities, and utilities. Very disappointed.

Facilities are totally inadequate for conducting business or conferences. They lack standard technology for conference centers. No business center, poor wifi coverage (and it's slow when you can stay connected), no hardwired internet jacks. The main auditorium does not have a built-in projector or screen. It's as if the management has never been to a well-run hotel/conference center and have no idea what is expected.

Maintenance staff was generally very helpful and worked hard, but are poorly managed and trained, and are not able to anticipate basic needs. The wait staff in the main dining room was horrendous. The wait staff in the banquet hall was excellent, though the open bar was horribly understaffed and most people waited 20 minutes or more in line to get a drink.

The food in the main dining hall is almost as good as Denny's. The banquet food was average.

The rooms do not meet the standard for any of the major 3-star hotel chains popular for business and leisure travel (Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, etc., Holiday Inn Express, etc.). They're more in line with the quality of a budget chain like Comfort Inn. Adequate and reasonably comfortable, but there's nothing luxurious, or even noteworthy about them.

The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. There are plenty of places to relax and soak up some sun in a comfortable chair.

Very disappointing. We stayed in a timeshare. The amenities are extremely dated and in some cases barely functional. The kitchen is tiny, water trickles out of the showers, the tv doesn't even have a remote that can turn up the volume. The internet speeds are ABYSMAL, 0.48 megabits/second download speeds, not even enough to check your email. Haven't tried the resort's own restaurants, we usually prefer to eat at other restaurants in the area, which in this area are very scarce. We stayed on the first floor, and we could hear our upstairs neighbors walking constantly, even if they were not being rowdy. About the only good thing I can say is that the staff were very courteous and tried to put on a variety of activities, for kids and adults.

My wife, two boys (3 & 5 years old), and myself stayed here via time share for one week. Everyone had a great time and all wanted to stay longer. The rooms were large, with locking safe, with a good view, but a little dated. The staff was very courteous, attentive and pleasant. Food and service was good. The free bus service got us around and the different pools were great. They had a lap pool, regular pool (with large slide & mushroom water falls), kiddie pool (with two sides), a water slide on one side and a large refilling water bucket that spills over (my older son and I loved that one). The hot tub pool has a water fall, and center island. There was a water spray area for smaller kids. We did not try the indoor pool. The kids loved child camp and we loved the free time it gave us. They had a game room, bumper and paddle boats, and too many things that we did not try. The surrounding area has many things to do. My wife and I have traveled to many countries and to many states, but with the kids, travel from NYC is easy, and everyone thought this is a great place.

If it wasn't for the entertainment at the pool, th...

If it wasn't for the entertainment at the pool, this past week (29) would have been more disappointing than it had to be. Pool activities were fun for the whole family, thats about it. The food at the main dining room was so bad, that their $30 prime rib special consisted of a buffet quality piece of meat, watery mashed potatoes (apperared to be instant) soggy broccoli and a salad that should have been discarded two days before it was served. After refusing to eat it, wait staff was kind enough to not charge my wife and I and paid for a round of drinks. Now the drinks, 8oz glass filled with ice and watered down alcohol that you are being charged top dollar for. Diet n Captain and Malibu n Pineapple $16.50 at the lounge bar. Bar at the pool is a lot better. It seems as if they have a daily meeting to decide what to charge people for what. One day bingo is 3 cards for a dollar then its 1-1$ then 2-1$ other times. Some (idk if all) Time share rooms were updated to a king bed FINALLY and it was nice to have wifi anywhere you were on the property. Rooms are falling apart, Jacuzzi tub left black mold in after it was used each time, 1 out of 3 phones were working, doors to the rooms didnt close behind you, so if you weren't aware of this and just expected the door to close behind you, it was a security risk waiting to happen. Bees filled our AC unit as well. Maintenance was called about issues and and spent about half hour and said they would be back, still waiting but,im home now but they did kill the nest in AC unit. This has been our 5th time here and it appears that Villa Roma is going downhill. This is my opinion of a timeshare unit user, not sure about other areas. I was told it was sold in July, there was quite a lot of discussion amongst people at the pool area. Definitely had a great time, would like to see the security issues fixed including peep holes added to the doors. Don't waste your money on the meal package because the menu is trash. Go into town and do takeout or dine in from Papinoes, its about a 10min drive and the italian food is great. Great job Doc as always, kids love you and are always in such a rush to see you. No matter what, Doc always takes time to greet you and your family with a smile . Sorry, I forgot her name, but the woman at the pool doing the entertainment was amazing as well, if it weren't for them, not sure if I would ever return.

Starting w/ Paul C. and the entire staff. Always friendly and polite. The entire staff work very hard all day long in the heat so the guests are guaranteed a great time. The best part is that they do it with a smile on their face... and that says a lot. From the front desk, valet, room attendants, shuttle drivers, pool crew, restaurants, entertainment staff, indoor facilities... All starts with leadership. Well done VR!
