Cleaning of accommodation could be better. Lime on and on the taps and things stuck under the sink. Bed makes a terrible noise when turned around. And on this day at 6 o'clock in the morning there was a group who wanted to leave where we witnessed in our rooms. The doors that slam shut with you stiff in bed ... the noise from the corridor and the non-darkening curtains make that I do not quickly visit this Van der Valk hotel again.

I had a job interview at the bar.

Am friendly and well received.
I asked to reserve a table where I wanted to sit and that is immediately reserved for me.

Coffee was delicious.

No

Sit outside in good weather. According to the waiter we were not in a place where people served. The other places were occupied, but to a restaurant where we were welcome. Unfortunately.

Why anyone would go to eat here voluntarily is beyond me.

I have never had a high opinion of Van der Valk and I never will. It's a buffed-up McDonalds and nothing more.

What's so bad about it? Well, don't get me started. The restaurant hall is large and very noisy. The Live Cooking is everything but Live. In fact, it's extremely dead. Leaving a couple of steaks to simmer in a pan, under a heat lamp, is a crime against humanity. The hall were we were seated (family thing) was way to small, uninspiring and smelled of methylated spirits - for keeping the food warm in those awful aluminium serving trays. The food itself - well, we'll get to that.

First off, the waiter (one of two) DID NOT KNOW WHAT BEER THEY SERVE. "What would you like to drink, sir? / I don't know, what do you serve? / Well, sir, we have house lager... / What brand? / Eh, I'm not certain... / Any bottled beers? / Oh, I don't know, sir, let me see. And then the boy brings me some lager I didn't really want. Secondly, a booking was made nor a certain amount of people and we were short two chairs. So we had to bunch up to make room. Thirdly, like I said, methylated spirit smell.

The food. Oh, the food. For starters, some mushy fish salads, a tray of carpaccio and a single basket of bread were provided for a group of more than 25 adults. A lot of the salads were left alone, though. My son, for example, loves shrimp. He can thoroughly enjoy the /poivron crevette/ I sometimes make, or he likes them in sushi. He did not touch these shrimp, though. "They're like yucky pieces of salty chewing gum"! Bless him, the boy is seven years old and he already understands...

Main couse, then. Poached fish with cheese sauce, potatoes, overcooked broccoli. A Roulade of beef, pretending to be steaks, drowned in artificial, flavour enhanced mushroom or pepper sauce. Fried rice, undercooked, the freeze dried spice blend clearly coming from a bag. Chicken Satay (chicken leg, so some tendons were involved) and peanut sauce from a jar that was so salt and chemical I scraped it off.
WARNING: the next day, my kids had a rash, plus both my wife and I had headaches. We tend to eat very little chemicals at home, we're just not used to trash like this. And yes, this is our typical reaction to processed foods.

The deserts were, well, all right. Yes, they were bought at some factory, wholesale. But there is only so much you can do wrong with store-bought stuff.

I'm certain that people who think McDonalds is "just great" will consider this a fine night out with great food. But I honestly can't. Not that I think expensive restaurants are better, no I don't. They /might/ be, but that's not a given. No, I know a lot of cheaper places that serve great food, well cooked and properly served. Please, do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

TL;DR: If you go here, don't expect much. Better: go someplace else.

Good evening we went tonight, we thought it was disappointing we had chosen live and cooking, The choice minimal eg no baked potatoes not woke pity. And 7 was already cleared up and at 7 you couldn't eat a main dish anymore. Well we had a waiter who could arrange a plate full from the back of the kitchen. I had to ask myself a couple of times we want to drink bad. And the coffee cold. No in vianen and wooden at v / d valk much better and atmosphere also much better .. too bad

We had a nice room. They could not find our booking at first, but it worked out fine anyway. For the long wait we received a box of chocolates. Delicious eaten the first day. A pity that there was no place to eat for the second day. Friendly staff.

Ridderkerk is a small town near Rotterdam. The area around the hotel is dominated by commercial buildings. The traffic connection is excellent. In about 20 minutes you are in Rotterdam.
The hotel is very well equipped. Our room (wheelchair accessible) was very large and nice. The bathroom was huge and handicapped accessible.
Very friendly and attentive staff. There is a small, but well-coordinated menu in the restaurant. The dishes are more than sufficient and tasty. The breakfast is excellent and varied.
WiFi is free and fast in all areas of the house.
Parking is free and available in large numbers.
Everything is very practical for a nice weekend trip in Rotterdam and the surrounding area.
A visit to Maasflakte 2 is highly recommended.

Easy to access thanks to its proximity to the highway, the hotel is friendly, tastefully decorated and the rooms are excellent, both the bathroom and the bedroom itself.
The servers at the bar ... let's say you have to find the right one, there is the efficient server and the server who ignores you.
And concerning the restaurant, what a blessing, the dishes are expensive but of excellent quality. They are well served, both starters and main courses, and the service is fast, the main strength of the hotel.
The breakfast is itself at the height of this kind of hotel, there is everything, continental type.

In short, a good Hotel and if you want to go to Rotterdam, there is a P + R 6 minutes by car to park for free. But be careful, provide cash, no ticket dispenser at tram stops but you can buy tickets from controllers in the trams.

Christmas dinner Boxing Day. After 1st course waited 1.5 hours for soup, which was lukewarm. This was also the case with the main course. Tournedos not hot and barrel rolls dry. Asking for drinks and dessert didn't mean anything. Too bad we always had good experiences at other van der falcon.

We, my wife and I, have been in a lot of v.d. Been to falcon hotels. Not only to eat, but also to stay the night. The v.d. Valkhotels have nice packages, we have often used them, that is 3 days a summer / winter / spring or fall package, 2 nights sleep and includes breakfast and dinner. But we never actually wrote a review. We are starting slowly now. First but close, Rotterdam, we have been both in Zuid, better Ridderkerk, and in Noord, Blijdorp. And that is a bit of a problem for me from v.d. False to write a review, they look a lot, not all of them, but still very similar. Certainly the Rotterdam. Personally I think it is more business hotels, always a matter of taste, but I don't find any atmosphere in these 'Rotterdam' hotels. Certainly no atmospheric restaurants, they look like refined canteens. The food is good, we have never had bad food at v.d. Valk, sometimes errors in the service, our food went to another, but overall we had a good meal and at a very reasonable price, although they are really more expensive in Rotterdam, and very surprisingly we had to pay extra for sauces. We have never experienced life cooking here, but elsewhere, and very well in Apeldoorn, but we cannot say anything about Rotterdam, maybe it really would have been better, they should care. The interest and kindness of the people could be better.

Very good location for a business meeting. Will easily accommodate up to 150 persons in a group. Has a large room for main sessions and smaller rooms for sub-sessions. Great 'van der Valk' lunch with just about anything you want to eat and drink. Recommended!
