I booked two rooms last fall for my family to attend a wedding. After checking in, one room had a used bandaid and wrapper on the bed. The staff had the bed changed. We next noticed that there was only decaf coffee pods. Called the front desk to ask for regular. They never brought us the coffee pods. The rooms were 361 and 363, directly above the hotels trash bins. We couldn't sleep with the sliding doors open due to the odor. Then at 8:00 am a jack hammer woke us. We were not warned of the construction. Having booked the rooms so long ago and being a Marriott member for 24 years one would think that they would have made some effort to move us to a decent room. After returning to the room later that day to get ready for the wedding our room had still not been made up. Called the front desk and asked them to bring coffee for the morning. Upon returning from the wedding the room had been cleaned but coffee refilled with decaf only. Checking out on Sunday, today, the front desk clerk was unprofessional, unfriendly and dressed in a ratty sweater. Don't they wear uniforms? I will not return .

Let me preface my comments with the fact that I am a frequent Marriott visitor. Between the travel my wife and I conduct for business and pleasure, we happen to stay at Marriott hotels up to 4-5 weeks a year. We've grown accustomed to exceptional service and standards that Marriott provides. Vail however, was the exception in exceptional. After agreeing to pay in season pricing for service and convenience, we were extremely disappointed with the customer service and awkward encounters we were forced to endure during our short 3 day stay at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort.

Arrival: Staff seemed startled that we were looking forward to skiing upon our noon arrival while our room was being prepared. Storing our bags seemed unwelcome as walking in the stone floored lobby with ski gear was strongly discouraged (A mere 3 hours later the whole lobby will filled with ski boot walkers coming in for the day). Marriott touted their mountainside concierge service with ski check so we went along and changed for skiing and walked over to the gondola to get on the mountain. Our skis were checked mountainside after our day of enjoying Vail Mountain and we headed back to the hotel. Our room was clean and pleasant and bellhop arrived shortly afterwards with our baggage.

Stay: Our stay in the hotel was comfortable. After a long breakfast, we made our was back to the slopes to get back on the mountain. However, my wife's skis were missing from ski check. We described them and the ski check radioed back to the Marriott storage to check if they had been left behind. A moment later, we overhear on radio they had found her skis back at the hotel and could hear an employee request for someone to meet her halfway there. After blank stares, I kindly offered to run back and meet the employee while in ski boats at which point one of the employees decided it would be better if he ran back. After 25 minutes of waiting, we were ready to ski. We were charged a $60 per day resort fee for this "service."

Departure:As we prepared to leave, we called the bellhop to bring a cart to our room to load up our bags. An attendant promptly arrived but told us to call back as we were not all packed up. They could not leave the cart so the attendant very begrudgingly said we will need to call back because he could not let us pack up our own bags on a cart. We called back 5 minutes later as the same attendant arrived providing awkward half engaged attention and showing clear signs of annoyance.

In retrospect, we had nothing but uncomfortable experiences at Vail Marriott. The hotel was clean and had all the appearances of a Marriott hotel but the service aspect was nonexistent and staff always seemed annoyed to be there.

I will reconsider where I stay while on business based on this experience. Needless to say, I have no desire to stay at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort in the future. When in Vail, I will look to stay at an aribnb, VRBO, or other vacation rentals. I see no benefit staying in a hotel room where for the same price I can rent a home and receive the same level of service. I WILL NOT BE BACK.

For the price of a 4 star hotel, I expected better. I got the same satisfaction as a 1 star motel in a small town the night before. Parking and food definitely can be improved. Clean bed, TV, free Wifi, shower and obviously the location are the only things going imho.

Although the hotel was very clean, it is greatly lacking in customer service.

When we arrived the staff was friendly, but did not seem like they wanted to be there. Our stay was fine until 3 am when we woke up due to how hot it was in our room. It was 25 degrees outside and snowing, yet our room was at 76, and felt more like 80. We tried to turn the temperature down, but nothing changed.

We called the front desk and were not offered another room, but were told to open the balcony door to cool off the room (which we did), because the technicians wouldn't arrive until 7:00. The person at the front desk removed the resort fee and said they would give us enough marriot points for two nights at another hotel, all we had to do was talk to the front desk clerk about it when we checked out.

The next morning when we checked out of our room, I tried explaining the situation to the front desk clerk, but he didn't care and kept speaking over me. I told him that we spoke to someone at 3:00 that morning about rewards points and all he said is that he put the note on the account, which didn't make any sense because we booked through expedia, and he didn't have my rewards number.

I did not continue the discussion with him since it was clearly going nowhere. I called the hotel when we were home from our trip, and when I finally spoke to a manager and explained the situation, he offered me 1,000 marriot points. I didn't think anything of it until I looked it up and realized it was equivalent to a measly $7.00. It was our Anniversary night and we couldn't get much sleep because we had to keep balcony door open, so I was pretty frustrated with the $7.00 I was offered.

I called back and the manager said he realized that 1,000 marriot points wasn't much (he didn't even know what they were worth), and that he could give enough for $35.00. This was even more frustrating seeing that the employee I spoke to at 3:00 AM offered enough points for two nights at an average marriot. The manager then proceeded to accuse me of refusing to change rooms and that is why he wouldn't give me more points. All I wanted was for their staff to honor their word and treat their customers with respect. He ended up giving me 15,000 points, equivalent to around $100.

Also, after we checked out, we realized that we left something in the room and had to go back and get it. We parked the rental car under the front awning, to the side, so they we were out of the way. My husband ran in to get the item, and I stayed in the car. It wasn't but a couple of minutes before a valet attendant knocked on the driver's side door. I unlocked the car and he opened the door and asked if we could move the car (even though we were not blocking anything). I said that I would move the car since it was a rental, and instead of listening to me, he said "No, I'll move it" jumped in the car and drove it to the other side of the awning. This was completely unprofessional and made me feel extremely uncomfortable.

We will not be recommending this hotel in the future due to their lack of customer service.

The hotel is gorgeous but I must say I agree with many reviews about front desk attitude. Being Titanium Marriott and having booked my room almost six months in advance just to have a front desk representative argue with me about what I booked. Trying to change up things when I can clearly see what my reservation says in the Bonvoy app. Then I wanted to extend my trip by one day and was argued with again and told that my rate was not available while I had it clearly pulled up as available in the Marriott App. There was one redeeming quality and that was that I was assisted above and beyond by another personnel member to open the spa after hours to purchase a swim suite. Needless to say it left a sour taste in my mouth that an agent would argue with me about something I can see inside the Marriott Bonvoy App. It s very likely because of this I will move my business to Avon Sheraton Hotels also a member of the Marriott Brand.

It's been 35 years since I stayed at the Marriott in Lionshead, Vail. A lot has changed in the area and hotel in that time, but a trip two weekends ago was fantastic. Dropped the car in valet parking when I got there and didnt miss it or need it until I left. The ski valet saw to it my skis were delivered and secure at the base of the Lionshead gondola and ready for my use, the staff was helpful and all smiles, service was first rate, and being end of season, rates were a fraction of the cost of mid season. Highly recommended .

Beautiful view from my room.

Beautiful view from my room.
Took one photo when I first arrived, and then took the other when I woke up the next morning.
Love the fireplace in the room !!!

Breakfast (first chair) was great, with super warm services.
Dinner at (first floor Pub) was not so great... we had to wait more than an hour to get our food and when the food came out, they were cold already..

Not worth the cost. There are no utensils despite advertising a kitchenette. Not a glass or fork in sight! Pretty dated hotel. Staff were ok. Got mistakenly served a horrible alcoholic drink when I asked for a hot chocolate and was not refunded the difference. The game room is small and you have to walk through the dark and empty closed restaurant to get to it. Only pluses here are the in room fireplace and the free smores.

We recently stayed at Vail Marriott for a friends engagement proposal. Everyone at the resort was so kind, friendly, and willing to make this trip a success. They went above and beyond to sneak this surprise into their room as a congratulatory gesture. Absolutely loved our time here, and will be back to experience it again and will gladly recommend it to friends and family.

Beautiful but definitely not peaceful. Starting at about 4:30 am trash trucks and deliveries start showing up. Party goers coming and going at all hours. Normally this probably would not be a problem; however, the rooms have no AC so you need the windows open at night to make it even bearable. Our room at 11pm was 81 degrees. Really not acceptable for how much the rooms cost.

Not at all impressed. Exorbitant resort fee with little performance. I expect brands like Marriott to be transparent in their pricing. This behavior reminds me of Spirit Airlines. The parking will also cost you an arm and leg. I was told we would have a high level mountain facing room with private balcony, instead we got a 2nd floor side view without a balcony. Being a resort property, I expect more out of the property. The room just felt dark. Don't believe the reviews on the Marriott site, as they are moderated and they select who gets to place a review.

Not happy! They put us on a floor that was a construction zone and our room overlooked a bldg under construction. Oh and we had to take a detour to get to the elevator because the ceiling had caved in the gift shop (having to go thru the gift shop would have been another issue). The room was nice though. Overall not what you'd expect from a Vail resort hotel.

This hotel was lovely, great atmosphere to relax especially if you don't snow ski but our view of the snowy mountains was great and the fireplace in the room made it comfortable. However they're pricy and have expensive parking and resort fees.

Beautiful town and nice Marriott overall. They tout private balconies, but it's really just one big one separated by metal fencing. I can see right into my neighbors room and have the lovely hum of industrial air conditioners on my 'private balcony' I would still stay here again despite....great location

My only problem was my room, half the lights in my room didn't work and the shower head look and worked like it was from the 70s. I can deal with the lights but a crappy shower head sucks. All and all the hotel was great. The staff was amazing!

I stayed over Christmas. The decorations were nice and the staff was lovely! I was not very impressed with the room though. The shower pressure was terrible, there was not toilet paper stocked, and no tissue. I like to sleep with my room being cool *not cold* so when I went to turn the thermostat down to 65 it blew lukewarm air all night because it was unable to cool. I ended up having to open my balcony door slightly just to cool off the room and keep it cracked all night. Also the hallways were very cold a lot of the day while I was here. I heard other guests talk about the same thing so I know I wasn't just being picky about the temperature. I understand that things happen but for the price I spent on my room would have expected everything to go a little more smoothly.

We stayed in the lowest level of the hotel. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. It was freezing outside. Had to evacuate the building for about an hour.
It's a bit pricey for what it actually is. Its okay, but not for the price range. Obviously experiences vary, and circumstances swayed our opinion. To each his own. See for yourself.

The room seemed quite old, dark, and small. However, the convenience is great. Rent ski equipment in the hotel, a short walk to the mountain, catch the free shuttle to town right outside, several dining options, etc. Also nice that they have a very friendly staff.

My partner and I have never splurged on a big hotel expense on a trip, so we decided to give it a shot at your hotel in Vail, Colorado. We ended up regretting it.

The first impression is always the most important and that is where Marriott failed in flying colors. Upon pulling in, the valet immediately took my keys even after I said I wanted to self park. He then started unloading my stuff and gave me a valet slip again after I already said multiple times I wanted to self park. He then treated me like an idiot for trying to find parking, saying "good luck" "keep this slip since you'll be back anyways" and constantly poo-pooing my idea of finding self parking; even though I know for a fact there is a free overnight garage a short walk across the highway from the hotel that is even listed on the City of Vail's website. His argumentative tone was a horrible first experience.

When I mentioned this he acted like I was an idiot and that it doesn't exist. Sure enough, I drive across the highway and there is the garage, free and all.

The second bad experience is that we spent a long day skiing and were out of the room from 8am to 4pm and come back to a room that has not been cleaned. My girlfriend went down to the front desk to ask about the situation and they said "oh well, we clean until 4:30." So we waited until 5, and the room was never cleaned. So we ask for clean towels, and they were never sent up. I had to chase down an employee in the hallway to get towels.

This is not an acceptable experience for such a high $$ hotel. We received far better treatment at the comfort inn on the way back.

Hotel was nice, service was horrible. And that's a shame since Marriott is in the service industry.

Had a horrible experience with a waitress at the Pub located in the resort on the night of May 2nd. She never acknowledged us to take an order, so we assumed the restaurant was no longer taking orders, we then proceed to ask her if the bar was closed and she rudely answered not even turning around to acknowledge us again. We did however place an order with the amazing young man at the bar who was more than happy to help! Front desk, and valet were amazing!!!! Not sure if I would stay again, will probably rent a condo....

We visited in the of season just as everything shuts down in spring. Along with our complimentary breakfast at the front desk, the hotel provided a list of restaurant closings and specials for restaurants that remained open. The s'mores open bar and whiskey tasting were a pleasant surprise in the afternoon and transportation to and from the hotel around Vail was very convenient.

Great location, staff, spa. Limited food choices but what they have tastes excellent. Easy walk to town center of this property (not Vail town center). Everywhere is a free local and short bus ride away. Can be a bit noisy in busy season. Ask for a room without a connecting door -though other guests were very nice when I asked if they could keep it a little quieter. In short it's a great value for what they offer/provide.
