Went on the open day which was really interesting. Did 2 workshops - the glass during which was excellent and very good value as toy heads about 30 minutes in which to play., and thre make a glass bead which was fun but very short- toy should be able to make as many beads as you can in the time skirt, rather than just make one and finish even if it's oy taken half the session time.

It is pretty awesome actually. They have great studio space for those into the art of flaming glass into amazing houseware, jewelry and beads.

A few times a year many students graduate from the Bead Program and few go on to create dynamic show pieces like @Renaissance Beads for Art Gallery pieces via the_seabrook on Instagram whose beads were showcased here on May 17th, 2018

Workshop and school of glass treatment. Special for artisan artists as they have everything necessary to make glass objects. A good exhibition and shop where to sell your product. Very interesting.

Stopped by for the Saturday 1pm tour. Very impressive gallery, but the artists space on the upper floors are amazingly well designed, equipped and maintained for everyone from novice, classes and skilled artisans.

So glad to have found this place for renting the large kilns for stained glass or fusing projects, but also has a large space dedicated to neon work and glass blowing.

The facilities are one of the very best in the world. The Faculty and Staff are all accomplished artists. They are all wonderfully skilled and helpful. Of course it is fantastic to learn to use glass in an environment full of Positive Energy!

Had a good time blowing glass for the first time with a friend. haven't ever taken any classes, but he helped me figure out some basics and ended up with a glass marble & a cup to drink out of.

Equipment is clean and well taken care of. The people who work there are friendly and they have glass blowing classes. If you like being crafty and don't mind being warm (REALLY warm... okay, hot!) then check it out.

My GF and I went to the Valentine's Day private glass blowing class for couples. I didn't expect it to be so hands on. After a brief intro to the shop and to the precautions we were working with molten glass. Our instructor Joshua verbally guided us while we shaped, colored, molded and blew the glass. We made two flowers and a bowl within the time allotted. I highly recommend taking Joshua's classes.

Great

NEWLY RENOVATED AND FABULOUS. Urbanglass started life as the New York Experimental Glass Workshop on Mott Street which was fabulous in a very funky way...the studio glass movement had just begun and the "experimental" was the East Coast outpost.

20 years ago, it moved to Brooklyn. Some say the plant had flaws. Some said it had lost its edge.

Yesterday, Mayor Bloomberg cut the ribbon on a new facility in the space where the old Brooklyn facility had lived. It is SPECTACULAR. It might just be the best facility in the United States for glassblowers to rent space and work. Surely, under the management of Cybele Malone, it will be a place where artists wishing to add glass to their work will be able to find craftspeople to help them.

We have watched Urbanglass from afar and are "blown away" by what the Board has accomplished.

This is a very artist-friendly community so call Cybele and visit.......see for yourself

Really interesting space, today was a jewelry and glass blowing demonstrations with talks. Classes where available too.

Small cafe available too. Not sure it's worth it but the avocado toast while littrally just some toast with avocado (maybe some lemon and black pepper) it was actually quite tasty.

I do understand that glass is very fragile and we appreciate all the hard work into it. Upon entering the store, we were declined service because we have a dog with us. We have a well-behaved dog who have been with us for 12 years now. Every creature can behave negatively and aggresively without proper training-even children. For people who have service and support dogs, this is just unacceptable. We support local art a lot but art is nothing without compassion and love. Just like glass, this kind of treatment you provide to your customers will either make or break you. I hope you have a wonderful day my fellow artisans, hope to see you somewhere, just probably not on this space.

My team came here for an offsite and did a workshop in their hot glass space. It was quite fun! They showed up how to make a paperweight and a bowl, and then we split into teams and actually made them. It was a lot of fun and each team had a person to help. It was quite a unique experience. We even got a demo of a big cup at the end, which was really cool because it involved transferring the glass to another stick. All the people were quite friendly and the demos were really smooth and well-explained. I would definitely recommend it!
