A Solid Brewpub in the Heart of Omaha, Serving OK Bar Foods and Craft Beers.

By no means is three stars a bad review. This place was good, but not great, so if living in or when visiting Omaha, I would come here. And if we're ever back, I would come back to Upstream.

We had just finished an all-day visit at the zoo, so the whole family was worn out, thirsty, and hungry. They have flights of beer and I suggest going that route, that way you can sample more of what they've concocted. We ordered three appetizers: Fried Pickle Chips ($6), which were cornflake-crusted and served with their honey-mustard dipping sauce; Bavarian Pretzel Bites ($6.50), that came with a smoked Gouda, red lager mustard dip; and the Pretzel Encrusted Fried Cheese Curds ($8), that came with a blackberry habanero sauce. The pickle chips were great and cooked well--crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside. The bites were bland and OK, they needed more salt. And the curds were good--the sauces for all three stole the show and were the saving grace for each of them.

I ordered their Blackened Burger with Guacamole ($12), that came with pepperjack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles, and served with fries. It was a solid burger, nothing great though, and slightly overcooked (asked for it to be medium). My date ordered their Thin Crust Vegetable Pizza ($11.50), an arugula pesto, mozzarella and ricotta cheese, artichoke hearts, tomatoes, and fried onion pizza. She substituted the pesto for red sauce, but that didn't save it for her--she wasn't a fan of the pizza, saying it was pretty bland. The kids each ordered Cheeseburgers ($7) and included a choice of drink and side (one got smashed potatoes, the other steamed carrots). The kids also get a choice of dessert: a root beer float or vanilla ice cream. This is a great deal--the burgers were big, sides were generous, and the dessert at the end was perfect. A big hit for the kids.

Overall, we had a good experience. Knowing now what to expect will make coming back easier and we will.

Upstream has some great beers they brew! We sat at the bar and tried several, had a great appetizer and then came back later that evening for a dessert! The chocolate brownie dessert was amazing, baked fresh it was warm and gooey. The bar staff was very friendly and helpful in selecting a drink preference.

Food here is great and they also serve the most incredible home made root beer. For $9 you get a half gallon (64 oz.) refillable container and get refills of the best root beer for $6 I think it s a great deal as its home made and tastes fantastic. Every food order I ve made has come out great and will definitely be back

I got the fried pickles to start, and they are quite nice. The main course was a BBQ bacon burger, and it is also quite a delight. The veggies are fresh, the sauce is non-offensive, and the meat was cooked exactly how I like. For my drink, I ordered an iced tea, which was among the better iced teas I've had. They had a rather impressive selection of alcoholic drinks, but I cannot say much for them as I did not have one. The staff are friendly, despite the large groups of people they are working with. They aren't as excitable and only stop by when it is desired. Overall, 5 stars from me.

We came to Upstream this past Monday night on the recommendation from Tricia at the nearby Hyatt Place. We received a coupon for a free pint of beer with the purchase of an appetizer or entree. We arrived during Happy Hour, so we sat on the bar side of the brewery.

I had the Firehouse Red Ale, which was amazing. I've been on a kick of red ales, and this was flavorful and smooth. My wife had a Dragonslayer martini, which she said was delicious.

For food, we ordered two appetizers, the hummus plate and the pretzel crusted cheese curds. I'm not typically a cheese curd fan, but these were good, especially with the raspberry jalapeno jam. The hummus plate comes with three kinds of hummus, along with pita bread for dipping. Nothing out of the ordinary, but satisfying. We ordered the kids meal fish for our 1-year-old daughter. It came breaded, so we removed the breading for our daughter. She devoured the fish! Even my wife who doesn't like fish enjoyed it. The meal also had steamed veggies that we cut up and served to our daughter.

All in all, our service was great, although we came in the early afternoon so I can't speak for busier times. When I walked around the neighborhood a few hours later, it seemed a lot busier.

I've gone here a bunch of times with coworkers for their Reverse Happy Hour on Wednesdays, when their special is $2.50/pint beers and $6 pizzas, and always had a great time and excellent service. This weekend I finally had an actual dinner time meal there and had a burger on the patio and still had a great experience too, though obviously their non-happy hour priced meals and drinks were more comparably priced to other places in the Old Market.

It s a very busy brewery with a huge bar as well as regular seating. Apparently there is an upstairs bar but did not venture that far. Had the o gold. A light beer but they have others including ales, wheats, reds and pale ales. Give em a try.

The Busiest Restaurant - I'll go back.
I flew in around noon, made it down to the Old Market by 1:30pm. Stopped by 3 restaurants to see which one was busiest. Upstream was by far the most populated. Our group tried a burger, wings, salad(the special), soup, fries, root beer float. Not a single disappointment, our highlight was our server Andi - she was amazing! Very pleasant, great table side etiquette, my whole family connected with her and thought she was great. Ambiance was a little dark, the wait on the food was long, but when it came it was right and a good experience. Andi was aware of our wait and checked in often and kept our drinks full. It looked like there was a big selection of beer, we didn't try any of them. Parking meters outside take Visa and MC, I would walk 5 blocks easy to sit down at this restaurant again.

We just went for after-dinner drinks and dessert, but we were really impressed. It has a really nice, casual ambiance. The beer and cocktails were fantastic and very reasonably priced, especially with the late night happy hour (11 pm to close). I highly recommend the Smores brownie, it was the perfect summer night snack!

Good comfort food and beer, plus a lot of different private spaces for having a group of people in a COVID environment, a lot of people don't know about their rooftop seating, which is great in good weather.

Enjoyed their beer, but I am certainly not a brewmaster so don't take my word for it. May have been better than 4 stars, but didn't do a lot to stand out. However, they do have a decent prestidigitation specialist ;-)

Went for dinner right after a Creighton game let out, so the place was hopping from that and a wedding party. The hostess found us a table and got us in right away, however, which was a plus. The fried pickle appetizer was tasty, and came out very quickly after ordering.

Where the appetizer was fast, the entrees were slow to arrive. The first piece of Italian pizza thin crust was edible (although the sausage had no taste and seemed like a chopped up, pre-cooked product), but subsequent pieces started falling apart once the juices started soaking into the crust. Ended up taking half of it home and letting it "dry out" a bit as leftovers.

Fish & chips were very bread heavy and a bit soggy. The cucumber salad that came with might have been the highlight of that plate.

And, beer! Upstream's flagship IPA was, well, dull. I couldn't wrap my taste buds around it--it's possible I paired it with foods that didn't highlight the personality of the brew.

Stopped in for lunch and had a great experience. The seasonal flight was good, the taco appetizer was amazing and the service was great. The place is huge with a whole second level and nice patio. It s also kid friendly.

I've always wanted to like Upstream, and everytime I go I really try. But the thing is their food is really lacking in diversity, and their prices don't reflect their plates at all. Everything they tend to have is well made, but I never really feel like the value is ever there. I've had problems where my food would come out cold or just plain wrong. Not a terrible stop, but there are better.

Had a blast with the magician there the night we went. Kids were blown away. Food was great and everyone had fun. We did have some issues with seating because we had 12 and they heard 11, but it got figured out.

Beer was room temperature and the steak quality was not up to the price. The table service was good. We were at a booth and harsh spot lights shined in my party's face causing them to sit on the end of the long 6 person table

No waiting when we got there. All of the staff are wearing masks (which is a good thing). We had the breaded cheese curds which were really good. I had a bacon cheeseburger which didn't have much flavor, but it was okay. My wife had the Macs and cheese which wasn't very good. The atmosphere was good. We mainly went there to try their homemade root beer, but they didn't have any. So, overall, not a great experience.

I felt the decor of the pub was astounding. I decided to go with the raspberry beer and raspberry chicken, which was a recommendation from the menu. Not only was it an excellent recommendation for lunch, but the beer complimented the plate very well. When I received the bill I was a little surprised to see the beer was almost all of the bill, but all in all I enjoyed my lunch and will come again!

My husband and I came in for Saturday lunch and it was rather busy. My infant daughter was incredibly grouchy and they brought out the kid's food very fast. Unfortunately, my daughter was still whining and being difficult, so we elected to leave and spare the other guests her screaming. The waitress boxed up our food super quick and had our check in a flash. The food was so so so good. We'll definitely have to come back (sans kids) another time.

We are from Oklahoma and were recently traveling through Omaha Nebraska, and stopped there to have dinner with family that lived nearby. They suggested we meet at the Upstream Brewery, that they frequented. My husband and I both ordered the Omaha Grilled Filet Mignon that comes with green beans with mushrooms and a potato cake. Oh my goodness! We both agreed it was by far the best steak we had EVER had! And the side dishes with it were delicious as well! Our family, who had visited here before, but had never had a steak, tried a bite of ours and said they will definitely be getting the steak next time! It was the most delicious meal we had on our trip to Minnesota and back. If we are ever in Omaha again, we will definitely be back! Side note: We also really enjoyed the downtown area with all the cute shops! We would love to have been able to spend more time there! Try Upstream Brewery - you will NOT be disappointed!

Food was great, and once we were seated the server did awesome. But the young lady at the front podium was rude and not at all helpful. Not what I have experienced in the past, and certainly hope not to in the future. Almost walked out but was hungry!

Fast and friendly servers. The food great. It's a bit pricey I suppose, but the portions were generous. One of our entrees came out wrong and even before we realized it, our server did. She corrected it immediately, insisted we keep both meals and then deducted them both from our bill. The manager came to the table and apologized as well. This was above and beyond the norm. The outdoor seating was also very nice.

The beers were good, and the appetizers were delicious. But I found the actual meal to be disappointing. If you go, don't expect good rice or veggies. DO expect delicious spinach artichoke dip with thick slices of bread.
