I really want to like Upstream but after 2 visits, it's just not for me. I'll first start off by saying the location is awesome and I can't say enough positive things about the service I received from the staff on both visits - top notch to say the least.
The reason I don't like Upstream are the main reason you would go to Upstream, the food and beer. On my first visit I had a steak that was the dinner special, bland describes it pretty well. It was the special so I didn't want it to be my only representation of my food experience so on my next visit, a few months later, I figured I should try something from the normal menu. I read good reviews about the burgers so I ordered the blackened burger with pepper jack cheese and guac. I think they must have forgotten to add the seasoning to the burger because I've had way more seasoned burgers from McDonald's. As an unseasoned burger, it was good. The fries were edible but were limp and lacked much flavor.
I'm a huge craft brew fan and I love tasting the local options as I travel across the country and there are some amazing breweries in the area. Just not this one. Don't get me wrong, the beers are good but not great-with the exception of a couple of the seasonals. My palate is mine, so your mileage may very, but nothing grabbed my attention as unique or something that I would want to order again.
I'll wrap things up with this; Upstream is good and you probably won't hate it but there are sooo many other amazing places in the neighborhood with absolutely killer beer and WAY BETTER food. Explore your options before settling.
