Great cafe/bar to meet your group friends, a loud atmosphere, the staff are friendly, self-service.
The place is not known for its food so nothing special on the menu. It has a tremendous "fumoise" area that has train furniture and settings; it's great if you are a smoker and it's freezing outside!

After reading the reviews I decided to have lunch here. After 15 minutes waiting for one cappuccino I was told by the staff: "if it takes to long, go somewhere else."
Best way to start your day in Basel! Or to spend an idle hour reading or watching this fascinating city go by in front of you(they have a lot of outdoor sitting). 5 minutes walk from the Marktplatz, this place is open from 8 AM till midnight, and there is always something going on, first time I spotted it was when they had some social dancing in the central room. The bar offers some snacks and pastry, but the main thing is the coffee, for me, it was the best coffee I had in Basel (and coffee's bar is very high here), I tried both cappuccino, espresso and cold cappuccino version(they make it perfect!). And the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Great to have such a place in a very touristic area.
In the fumoir you sit in an SBB train compartment. Funny. .! There self-service. Centrally located. Sympathetic!
I like it because of the bustle and the carefree people and that nobody bothers me. A style to the 70s
Giant big, often nothing going on. If there are no events, extremely comfortable. But at the same time we organized and commanded a lot.
Always the right place to relax, watch people and enjoy the moment with a lot of ambient noise ...
Very good coffee, something always happens and you have a lot to see :-) perfect to start or end a shopping tour.
The piano in the entrance is great (my favorite instrument) - in the meantime the kids are knocking on it from time to time - but mostly true artists find themselves there and delight the guests with a spontaneous concert.

Good to meet in the city. Free internet and you can stay there without buying anything. The toilets are ok but much better than public ones.

I like the middle, but I find it strange that the high price is explained by the fact that organic food is used. Unless you buy them directly from C / M, where huge margins have to be paid, that's not a good excuse. To portray all others who offer justified prices as "low-cost providers" is somehow weak. Maybe you can optimize something in resource management?

It was a hipster place long before it was a thing. So if you are locking for some medium hipster coffee it could be your place.
Coffee which is very popular with students. Has free Wi-Fi, so do not forget PC. Without a PC you immediately notice. There is Gazosa from Ticino!
Here you can spend the whole day and there is Wi-Fi and the best coffee ;-)

Once a bank is now a public space used as a bar, with the possibility of dining on the upper floor, with an exquisitely Central European flavor. An informal, lively but absolutely not chaotic place. From the tables where many sit to work on the PC, to read a book or to chat while sipping a coffee to the armchairs where to rest, to the fireplace in front of which to warm up during the winter, everything expresses an informal welcome and conviviality. To visit absolutely !!!
We ordered so called 'Gazosas'. Service is, as you know it, very introverted and rude. Gazosas came, but tasted of dish soap !! For a horrendous price of 5.50 for a glass that then still tastes of dish soap is simple fool, sorry 1 star> :(

Unternehmen Mitte is a pretty decent place for groups to meet up, for students to learn and for a nice tea or beer after work. Quaint setting with quite good music. Also friendly staff and all over quite a good experience.
