Brilliant place to study, team work, drink a coffee, disconnect or just chill. Common place for meetups and language or culture exchange sessions.
It was in the past a bank and you can see the door which goes to the safes.
Some sunday the remove the tables from the middle and there is Salsa from 20h to 24h.
It has only one falut. WiFi is usually collapsed and it is not workable specially at rush hours for the bar.

This is an important meetup spot for locals and expats alike. The terrace is a great place to people-watch in summer. Be sure to check the bulletin board to the right as you enter for lots of great things to do...exhibits, concerts, etc.

The best place if you have time to go and talk to friends.

Several incredibly rude staff. Very disappointed. Unfounded impudence due to bad coordination of the staff and little uniform organization.
Example. Just now we have been there. To 2. (We have been there a couple of times and it was about the same every time.) There was a sign "WC 1st floor left." So we went there. A guy tells us that we quote him up there: cook up the place. So we go down. And point to the sign. He pretends that it does not exist and puts it away quickly.
Instead of apologizing, the one with the kakken is just like that. Then we go ask the official bar. They say that there is no such sign or stand. Then she tells us that we should dissipate .... and act as if that just did not happen. As if that was a little misunderstanding. Turns out that was not it. They forgot to clear the sign after an event. We have the Anschiss doubly cashed (without using any loo ... of course, then no longer consumed ....) and received no apology from any interested party. As I said very disappointed. Definitely not where to go if you want to be treated as a normal person. (Mind you, we knocked the toilet up on the floor without being on the toilet.) I'll just say it. This is not an isolated case but unfortunately Usus. : / Drinks, sit there and consume, loo or other. You always have to count on a very stupid answer and in any case you are guilt no matter what it is.
It is a pity that a former such great restaurant had such a crash. That's really a pity. And never ever ...

The right choice for a chillin' time..coffee or beer for example and the whole stuff is super friendly. Relaxed atmosphere in the heart of the city.

The coffee house in the center of the building is an ideal place to work with your laptop, free Wi-Fi and you can stay long undisturbed, which many do. Wednesdays are kids day, then it's a bit louder.

Former bank turned into a grand cafe. Great place, at certain times it can be noisy.

I wanted to pay for my coffee with a prepaid Mastercard, which was not possible.
Because I then told the barman to pass on that I thought it was stupid, I was told in a very arrogant way that my opinion as a customer didn't count.

I really like the place and the concept. Cozy to meet or work on laptop. Different people meet each other here but no one comes to the other in the queer. Visually very appealing and the toilets are clean. There are also warm menus at lunchtime. The management is courteous and easy to contact.

Actually, I can almost only report positive things. The coffee is absolutely delicious and the cake too!

Unfortunately, I think the prices are overwhelming, the price-performance ratio is definitely not right here.

It is also a shame and it is no longer appropriate to offer card payments only from a total amount of more than CHF 20.

Very strange place but only in the city for smokers indoors.

There is almost always space to sit and have a coffee, tea or lemonade, although it can get quite crowded in the afternoon, and therefore pretty noisy. Especially when the middle section of the place is turned into a playground for toddlers... So if you have young children and want to connect to other parents, it's most surely a great place for you and your kids to meet up with peers, however if you prefer to enjoy your coffee in a quit environment, you might want to switch to another coffee place in town.
But they have free WiFi - which is always appreciated if you don't have a free-data plan for your mobile - and I love that they make an effort to sell mostly organic and locally produced food and beverage.

Everybody tells me this is *the place to go* when you need to do some laptop-based work. They're completely right; great cafe!

I'm not a fan of service, so this appeals to me more. Order at the counter. Rather simply designed, also suitable for reading or working. Cozy and informal. Somewhat undercooled in winter, as it can go through uncomfortable. In summer, it is advisable to sit outside.

Nothing for me. Too loud, too unkempt, dirty and the service goes mate. Who likes it, I do not like it.

You have free WiFi, you have to order a drink at least once and you can use the network free of charge until after work. I had a lot of fun in the middle, I can even watch films on my smartphone or update the system. Because you can surf for free. Are weather protected because inside and not outside. Therefore I give 5 stars afterwards. 5

Probably the most popular bar in Basel .. more than a bar it is almost a cultural or meeting center, given the different activities that take place, such as dance classes, confereze, ateliers .. first of all the salsa course of Sunday afternoon. Drinks and snacks are quality, coffee is among the best in Basel, prices are high, only downside. Free wifi in the lounge, it is not mandatory to consume to access it;)

The same pizza always tastes different. The ingredients are very good and fresh. Today the pizza was very salty and had too much tomato sauce.
