Discover London s castle a secure fortress, royal palace and infamous prison where you can explore 1000 years of history. Prepare to be dazzled by the breathtaking, world famous Crown Jewels. Take a Yeoman Warder tour and hear captivating stories of pain and passion, treachery and torture. Meet the famous ravens and discover why they are known as the guardians of the Tower and marvel at the imposing White Tower, a magnificent example of Normal architecture at the heart of the Tower of London.
Nice place to relax, just make sure you go there off pick hours.
The Tower of London, officially Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, is a historic castle located on the north bank of the River Thames in central London. It lies within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, separated from the eastern edge of the square mile of the City of London by the open space known as Tower Hill. It was founded towards the end of 1066 as part of the Norman Conquest of England.
An impresive, well-looked after historical monument in the centre of London! A must see!
We visited the Tower to see the Armistice memorial torches. It was very poignant. 10,000 torches accompanied by some very atmospheric music. We are very glad we went.
For me this is London's best attraction it is both beautiful and interesting. Walking around is like taking a step back in history there is so much to see and then. Obviously being one of London's most famous attractions it can get busy especially during school holidays but even with the queues it is definitely worth going and would be the number one thing to do for any first time visit to London
quintessential tourist trap. Old and grand in scale. Definitely worth a visit. Not sure I'd go for a second visit but you have to visit it once.
Enjoyed my time here. Armory and the jewels. 2-3 hours of your time depending on how much of the place you want to see. Right outside you can have nice photos of the Tower Bridge.
There is so much history packed into this place! There is so much to see and learn and there are lots of people to answer questions along the way. The Crown Jewels we're astonishing (and there is way more than just jewels and crowns housed there). It was fun to see things like Traitor's Gate and the Ravens and to see that the guards still leave on the Tower grounds. Definitely worth visiting and I'd love to go again!
Fantastic historical castle and tower. Full of really interesting history. Easy to spend the whole day there to see everything, of course don't miss the highlight of the fabulous crown jewels!!
What a place of history.... wow! So glad I was able to go.
A great day out for all the family. With so much history you may need to visit more than once. I have been 3 times now and not seen it all.
Great diversity of exhibits and events. Full tour groups offered, and a range of attractions to appeal to all interests.
Super place to visit. Lots to see and very educational. Kids loved exploring and of course lived the gruesome tales told by the warders. Well worth the effort of putting up with the crowds. Go early in the day to avoid the worst of the crowds and buy your tickets online as they are slightly cheaper.
This is indeed worth visiting. I think you can easily spend a day here as things that on offer for people to see and learn are a delight to a history fan. You can see the Crown jewels, or learn about the history of London of almost 1000 years. White Tower is a lovely place to learn more and see the armery there. Interestingly they have some modern day bespoke revolvers which has been contributed by police or collectors. Caffes surrounding the tower of London will serve you well.
Great views of Tower Bridge. Lots of interesting artifacts and displays. Pro tip: try to knock out the Crown Jewels (which has the longest queue) in the morning or during lunch (while most people are in the cafe). The white tower is my favorite which houses all the armory.
Amazing place for a day, the history is made alive and well told! From walking along the walls and seeing London around to the ravens and the luck they hold.
Was an amazing experience for me and my little sister (9years old). Already planning another trip
One of the icons of London, with some heavy history. I would suggest going during the weekday or at a less crowded time, so you can actually hear the tour guides and get through places. It's very easy to wander off though, and there are quiet spots where you can just soak in the history. Brutal and beautiful, it is a must see!
This place was great. Lines were not as long as I expected. Very hard to navigate once inside even with a map, some sections they don t allow you to enter without having signed up for the guided tour. Disappointing to be unable to take photos in crown jewel area, also suspect that it s not Crown Jewels in its entirety but still magnificent.
Always love seeing the tower at night. One of London's most iconic sites
Cool place lots to see but be aware you have to walk alot but it's worth to see everything.
Fantastic history and tour guides are very knowledgeable. Brilliant day out
Having never visited before despite being based just a few hundred metres away for many years, it was a delight to finally visit the Tower properly. So much to see (and so busy!) that I am glad we went for the season ticket and will return to see more another day.
It was a very interesting attraction but it has become a little sterile in atmosphere. It's lost some of its charm to become too tourist friendly. Some more authentic experiences wouldn't go a miss. In general though a reasonable activity at an ok price for London.
Great experience, loads to do, but take your own drinks and snacks. Don't get suckered into the gift shop either, most books etc are cheaper online. Be aware that there is no photography allowed at all in the crown jewels.
Roman Holiday Accommodation was here: amazing place. Back to the past.
Go later in the day, 1-2pm say, and see the crown jewels as the place closes. No queues. And you get kicked out by cheery beefeaters.
Amazing building with so much history. Usually have different things going on depending on the time of year. Definitely go inside and do the short tour they offer.
Nice weather at the time of thr visit but always busy
Heavily commercialised, that aside, make sure to book yourself a beefeater guide, well worth it and awesome experience overall!
Great place to tour around. Seeing the crown jewels was the best part!
Really interesting place, really entertaining tour!! Could have spent the whole day there!!
A classic on the London greatest hits list beautiful to walk by, recommend purchasing an entrance ticket if in town for several days. A (free) Yeoman Warder guided tour is a must do! If you can go early, you can avoid the crowds at the Crown Jewels and even sneak in an extra glance or two. Plan to spend 2-3 hours here
It was actually very pretty from the outside. However, the entrance ticket was to pricey and I didn't have that much money to spend.
Looks beautiful from the outside, but I wasn't so excited by the interior. We had to wait in the line to see the crowns, but in my opinion I think they could do more.
Although its exterior might be grim and even unimpressive (especially when compared to stately Buckingham Palace), the Tower of London's interior is always bustling with activity. The tower, which actually comprises multiple towers 12 of which can be explored by the public offers something for everyone
An absolutely amazing experience, well worth the entry fee. So much to see so allow yourself plenty of time to explore. We didn't hire the audio tour but just made our own way around. Would certainly recommend it to all.
Magnificent. There is an organised tour by a local guard (a bit hard to catch up if your English is not sharp). They also had shows with actors wearing a 16th century costumes. There's plenty of things to see including the crown jewels (expect a long queue)
Great day out in London. Don't miss the guided tour by the Beefeaters... hilarious!!! and the Crown Jewels exhibition. Loved the armoury in the White Tower and torture chamber in the Bloody Tower too :) A day out to remember.
Loads to do, will fill a whole day if you visit everything there.
One of the interesting places to visit if you like history. The most crowded areas of this place is the crown jewls portion where one would have to wait for at least an hour to get in.
It has been the most romantic place I have visited, its history and its presence in the most important British films make this bridge the ideal place to walk hand in hand with that special person during winter un London!
Visited a few times over the years and we learn something every time. The Beefeaters are so welcoming and gave great stories to tell. Don t rush you visit, take the time to take in 100s of years history.
This is a lot of fun! The cast do a great job of portraying characters from London's dark past.
RECOMMENDATION: get a combination pass to this along with the London Eye, the aquarium, and the wax museum. Its a great deal that way and all of those attractions are really enjoyable.
Full day for the whole family. Interesting especially thanks to the tour guides. Couple of places for lunch too.
By far, the most interesting and wonderful place to visit in London.
A must see of London! It's really typical with the beefeaters, the buildings are really impressive too. My favourite part was the jewelry, I wasn't so interested in what was presented in the white house however but it sure was impressive.
Great tour. Amazed to see the crown jewels and the armors and weapons of the kings and knights.
What an experience, make sure you find the time to go on a free guided tour.
A place steeped in history. Definitely an interesting place for anyone who wants to learn more about the history of England. Unfortunately it is always extremely crowded and there are long lines.
When visiting London please don't miss out on this piece of history. Fabulous!
Great place. Loved the Crown Jewels exhibit and the Yeoman Warder's free tour. Suggest to get to Tower of London in the morning to beat the long queue.
An attraction of very easy access to be in the center of London with great historical interest where you can see the jewels and insignias and elements belonging to the British royal house is considered the most valuable collection in the world. Place to visit if you are in London
Great look into the history of London and England. The building was done in different phases by successive rulers starting in 1066. The tower has been used for various purposes as well. Currently the Crown Jewels are stored there as well. It's one of UNESCO's world heritage sites
Essential London. Queue for the crown jewels looked enormous but actually only took 30 mins to get inside the door. Yeoman Warder tour highly entertaining. Audioguide recommended but not strictly necessary. Some of the exhibits haven't been updated since my last visit in the early 90s.
You can spend a whole day here. Lots to see and learn.
Excellent but make sure you bring plenty of money. A very busy place.
Loved the place. Also a great tour given by Yeoman Warder 402: Spike Abbott. A must see if you go to London. And if you're there, visit the Tower Bridge as well!
Fascinating tour learning about very early England.
Loved it so much!! Great place and will definitely be back. Would recommend parents to bring their kids in to learn history and appreciate the tour.
Very interesting and historic. If you are a gearhead you will especially appreciate the tour of the pump room.
Great skating and they were very generous as one member of the party couldn't skate at the last moment and they gave us a refund
The tour that starts in the moat is awesome. Our guide, Kevin, was hilarious and very informative. The armor and weapons exhibit was awesome and the crown jewels were pretty cool too!
Too crowded. The armory is impressive. The history is interesting. But the tourist everywhere are miserable. Try to go early at first opening. And go to the crown jewels first to skip the 2 hour wait we had.
Obviously great touristic attraction.
Full of history behind it.
A must visit, get on a guided tour to make the most of the day
The tour was fantastic but there were lots of no entry areas. Some of them are residential areas but others lead up to the top of the towers which is a shame as there would be excellent views up top. Some ruins are not explained like the "zoo" and cloak room. You have to find out in other areas what they were as there's no signs explaining them.
Give yourself enough time there is alot to see. Alot of walking with steps up and down.
Just loved this... 3 Queens were beheaded there and saw Crown jewels (couldn't take pics in there but amazing to see) also Beefeeder gave tour and stories and visited castle got audio guide too and book.. one part whereas we walked outside going from one side of smaller tower to another, felt like a Game of Thrones where both sisters standing and talking while looking down when Daenerys and Their brother John were down below.... Same feeling while watching a lit London Bridge and boats on the River Thames
Fun to look at learn the history. My children enjoyed!
The only place where I am safe in this cold dark city. After escaping the dungeon, I had to run here but mask my face with a mug crossed with one of those SNES toilets. The beds are comfy for someone who had just tickled someones pickle. I need to get back to the headquarters and checked up at the Pacific Lab now. BYE!!!!!
Don t even think not visiting this one on your London journey! Loving history or not, this is the core place. And don t be tight regarding the crown jewellery. Your eyes will be amazed by the beauty of them! It s the only chance for an ordinary person to see these marvellous things. All together, a unique life experience.
So much history at this site! The bloody tower where the people were held before their beheading. Many famous people where beheaded he including Queen Anne Boylen. A small memorial marks the spot. The Tower of London also hosts the royal jewels including the famous Kohinoor diamond. Fascinating historical place - the Tower of London does not disappoint!
Nice area to explore the history,
Best time to go is on February.
Great experience, wasn't particularly busy when we went. It was really fun to be able to explore a part of history and also see a lot of really cool ravens. They may not sound that exciting but I definitely think its worth your time.
This is a great place to see history. You can easily spend half a day here and not see everything. Be careful if you are not used to climbing stairs, but there's lots to see if you can. There's food inside, so no need to leave at Lunch. Highly recommend!
