Anny Mam's comment about sorbets is more than funny!
I am not satisfied but cannot really judge since I was unconscious.
So time flies when it comes to a real emergency.
If you want a shorter wait, you just have to wait to see a doctor in consultation.
Emergencies by definition is a service that deals with particularly urgent cases.
By definition, a hospital in the city center is overwhelmed, very busy (should I draw you a picture)?
To eat a sorbet, we prefer another place. : D
On the other hand, when one finds oneself unconscious following an assault, the service should write a note to the patient before sending him home in order to know how to maintain his dressings!
And preferably not to let him out with a concussion without detailed instructions ...
The wound has opened again and it seems there is no way to intervene quickly.
I am therefore asked to spend the next week at the surgery consultation.
The damage is done, so there is no hurry except for the fact that my face does not look like much anymore.
So I can start an acting career where I can play any mobster.
I regret not having received sorbet and being so disfigured! :)
"Always look on the bright side of life"! :)
If people could avoid emergencies for minor issues, their service would be much better!
Thank you for your understanding and respect for the medical profession, which is overwhelmed with irrational complaints!
Yours truly!
The nights of Weekend emergencies are overwhelmed so please, let the police, paramedics and nursing staff focus on the most serious cases !!!

What a terrible and inhumane experience. I was brought to this hospital emergency department by an ambulance after having an attack. They just left me waiting for a very long time, nobody cared. One of the other patients came three times to ask for her hydration bag to be filled, but personnel responded very rude. Myself, I decided to go home as I didn't feel in good hands, even if I needed checks to be done. They just responded by saying 'so go'. I have always been in good hospitals in Europe (including Edith Cavell and Saint Elizabeth in Brussels) and even developments countries I have been to hospitals with much much better standards.I cannot believe this happens in the capital of Europe.

Avoid the Ophthalmology section in this hospital. I had to wait for 3.5 hours just to get someone to check my eye. All the comments here that mention lack of staff are 100% true. In addition, during lunch break, all the doctors (and they are not that many) leave for one hour or more without leaving anyone to cover. So you end up losing extra time. Even the patients who had appointments were constantly complaining to reception about being forgotten , and their answer was always like: there are so many patients today . One of the patient even left because she was tired of waiting.

My dissatisfaction is clearly one of the consequences of a government that cuts budgets in the wrong places and leads the teams that care for us to reduce their numbers.
(I am sure that if the Prime Minister's son has a problem, he will not have to worry about all this since he will benefit from "hotlines". :-))
Aps, I also think that the "civil servant" mentality, co that it is sometimes used, is also present in certain people who manage the administrative.
> When you want to join one of the services, you are wired on the phone from one station to another, in the end, having no intermediary or just being able to leave a message ... and "we will call you back".
For example the dermato service: apart from emergency cases, it cannot be reached. However, having gone there several times, I can confirm that the secretaries are not overflowing with work (or smiling at the customers at the reception).
> In the dermato service (I ignore it for the other services but I imagine it is identical), you should know that most of the doctors who receive you are trainees. It's not necessarily negative, just know it.

Terrible waiting time. This is probably one of the worst hospitals in Belgium in term of patient handling and efficiency. There might be insufficient staff, but this is just another sign of how insufficient management is given to this hospital.
It is difficult to give a global opinion on a hosp...
It is difficult to give a global opinion on a hospital of this size and displaying as many trades. Overall, the nursing staff is wonderful and knowledgeable. Among the points to be corrected quickly: the rather rough reception of emergencies (not very important if you suffer, but a smile is always a pleasure), abnormally slow telephone reception for making appointments, slowness of cases in some units. It's simple, a quick consultation does not exist. You will wait a long time on the phone to schedule an appointment. You may wait to check in and report your presence. More acceptable, the specialist may be late. In short, in my agenda, I always mark morning at st-pierre or afternoon, as if it were an excursion. This industrialized welcome has flaws: woe to you if the doctor forgot to give you a document. Do not expect to return spontaneously and obtain the document. Better plan to spend an hour on the phone and identify the person who will help you. Hence the interest of having an unlimited phone plan. The reception staff seems to have got used to it: "come back Monday Sir", as if everyone lived near St-Pierre and was on vacation year-round. Aberrant! "Go to the office opposite." Of course, you have to cross the street, take countless corridors and take three lifts! The employee quickly got rid of the boring person by directing him to the path that leads nowhere. In these conditions, keep calm, remain courteous while showing a certain firmness. Once again, after having passed the barrier of the reception (in a general way), the hospital St Pierre will offer you very good care. Special mention to the ophthalmology unit which has "emergency" consultations all week.

I'm going there for 6 years now. I have been to the emergency room for both of my kids and me (on separate visits), both of my kids was born there, I have only good words for them. I have seen many stuff members, it is true that sometimes they can react a bit harsh in the ER but it is only cause they are stressed by their job. My son broke his arm and we went twice to one doctor. The first time he was 'unpleasant' because they 3 had a full schedule, and one of the doctors didn't show up, so they had to take one and half schedule each. The next time we went to him he was completely changed. He was normal, pleasant, reassuring my son... People who are working there are great, you can ask what ever you want they are there for you. This is a hospital that I recommend, that I choose, and I will continue choosing it.

After 15 years that I coast these hospitals (St Pierre and Cesar de Paepe) I allow myself to give only 1 star in relation to the poor quality of the service that deals with appointments. You complete the form with your request specifying your availability (15 days available with some time slots where you are unavailable) and we give you an appointment just in these time slots. 1 hour on the phone without having someone online. You send an email to move and we give you an appointment at 8:20, while in the days available you specify well between 8h40 and 16h ... An impression that we do not care about you or that we do not read your request. Other request for an appointment for an ultrasound, we answer your request for an appointment 3 weeks later! Meanwhile it has been done elsewhere this ultrasound ... What bad service to the patient!

Even one star is too much for this hospital.
After waiting 40 min on the phone to speak to an agent about my bill, I had a very rude and useless agent on the phone. He told me if there was a mistake on my bill I should come myself to the hospital and talk to the doctors and tell they made a mistake in the bill. He only kept repeating the same thing and when I wanted to say a word he would barely let me place even a single word. Finally when I wanted to speak up, while I was talking he kept saying 'yeah yeah yeah yeah'. That person just had an attitude that wasn't professional, and not polite. Now thats not the only thing I had an appointment, was waiting for an hour, then asked the receptionist how long am I supposed to wait? The doctor is an hour late for my appt ? She said oh sorry the doctor is busy I have no idea how long you will still be waiting for and I dont even know where the doctor is??? You are a bunch of timewasters!

My brother had a bicycle accident and therefore went to this hospital. It had an opening in the finger and given the depth, we had seen fit to go to the emergency room. A doctor takes care of him and to our surprise, he only puts a bandage on him. So we decide to go to another doctor to find out if this hospital made the right decision and it turned out not. My brother must have had 2 stitches and despite the fact that he asked the Saint-Pierre doctor the question, the latter had told him that "with a little iso betadine, her would be better in two days." Conclusion, my brother has an open finger and cannot close it because after 6 hours, we can no longer sew because of the risk of infection. It would be very dangerous to keep this kind of doctor in your institution and I hope my brother was and will be the only victim of this kind of dangerous neglect.

The nursing assistants were super rude on my admission.
It was my first and last time in this hospital.
One year after having my operation, I received the invoice when it should be sent directly to my insurer via the tier-pay system.
I make contact with the hospital and once again I come across a nasty person who refuses to cooperate and tells me that I have to make do with my insurance and that they will not do anything on their side.
I find it distressing to behave so unprofessionally.
For my part, I would never set foot there again.

The radiology and neurology department is below everything. They forgot to do part of the requested exam and after more than a week there was no way for the doctor to have a report or contact someone for an exam the results of which could be urgent. My daughter was doing an MRI on February 17, 2019, there were 2 exam requests for this MRI, one from the general practitioner and one from the neurologist. Appointment taken in January.
To this day it is still missing a protocol ....... that is long, we contacted the service 2 months ago and we told him that the head of service would take care ..... so far the neurologist still has not received the protocol.
We phone, we walk service service, we write to the mediation service .... nothing works ... we phone and we are told that we can not do anything, that requests for exams are gone to the archives. And Friday at 16h, there is no one to handle the problem.
The bill has arrived ... the complaint service does not answer ..... what carelessness.

Very bad experience in cardiology. After a stent placement, I feel uneasy in the hallway on the stretcher, while I was waiting to be brought back to the room. No matter how much I called or shouted, no one came to me. In desperation and just before I pass out, I raise my arm. Finally, a nurse notices my call and, after twenty minutes of injections, oxygenation and massages, the medical team makes me regain some strength. Rather than bring me back to the room, they decide to make me spend the night in intensive care, just to remain under constant surveillance. The doctor who put the stent in me promises to phone my wife to reassure her (in intensive care, it is impossible to communicate with the outside). However, around 9 o'clock in the evening, four hours after my admission to intensive care, I was handed the phone. My wife, in tears, had no news from me and explained to me that she has been trying to contact me for hours. The doctor never called him. A shame !

Maybe I should not post anything, I have never made it pas their voicemail. Obtaining an appointment is excessively difficult, it'll make you waist an awful lot of time. They announce that, if you drop out the queue, they 'commit' to call you back in 1 hour. That is *false*.
I am not surprised in the least by the tone of other reviewers.

One wonders why there is a reception desk in the consultation service. I introduced myself and found in front of me 2 people behind the counter (a woman and a man) chatting and laughing. out of politeness I don't interrupt them until they finish except that they never deigned to turn their heads towards me as I waited in front of them. This hospital is the worst hospital in Brussels.Basic but golden patient right as INFORMED CONSENT is not respected.Patients are not informed about alternative ways of treatment.
They have a lack of knowledge about which type of anesthesia would be applied or they like to see people suffer from pain.
The patient is not informed about what type of Anesthesia would be applied until surgery time.It is a surprise for the patient.
Post surgery symptoms are mystery for the patient because the patient is not informed about them neither.
Biased mediation service which may not answer the patient for years and ignore the complaints.Trying to protect the staff instead of being in the middle.Trying to sweep the matters under the carpet and act like nothing happened.
One mediator is not aware of the complaints done to a previous mediator. So they ask the patient to be their reminder.Probably switching from one mediator to another frequently thinking they screw it up.

After having undergone a heavy operation, under total anesthesia, in the recovery room; helpful and charming staff, no complaints. Only I had to wait more than 3 hours in this place because my room was not ready.
Arrived in my room, my business was not there: still long enough waiting, can not move, I had to ask what I needed most: no problem, staff available and friendly.
What I find unacceptable is to accept for the next bed visits after 19.30 and until 21.30 in the noise, full light, no respect for the person who has undergone an operation asking for calm, silence for to finally be able to sleep. In addition, this neighbor has begun to insult the nurse at night several times until it comes to disputes on both sides more than noisy. This lasted until 5.30 in the morning, and at 6.30 rebelote. Conclusion: standing the day before since 5am since I do not live in Brussels, I just slept the time of anesthesia over + 24h. It is unacceptable to have to endure such people. One should put one's bed in the hallway in order to respect the sleep of other patients. I was happy to be able to return, because I could not go any more !!!

Experience similar to what is said below: hours of waiting on the phone and when, finally, someone picks up (in the stomatology department anyway), the conversation is not the most pleasant. On arrival, an equally unfriendly welcome.
Caregivers don't seem to care more about your condition. A hello and a small smile do not seem to be part of the usual practices of the staff in the stomatology section.
It's a shame because in principle, when you go to the hospital, it's not for fun. In this case, the welcome and the staff are all important factors for the well-being of the patient.
And oral conditions are never a pleasure. When I come for an extraction of teeth and I go back there because contrary to what I was told, I "die" of pain and my face has tripled in size, I expect a minimum of sympathy .
In short, I will not go back but I sincerely hope that other people will have a more pleasant experience than mine.

1. Getting to speak - even to a general number - reception/secretariat is tough. I rang several times on a few different numbers and no one picks up ...
2. Eventually a person - a rude one. For a simple query that could ve been answered in 1 minute with a check on their computer- it took several minutes of mais non madame as she kept repeating seemingly on autopilot that I should just turn up for my appointment the first one, presumably then to come again if the appointment had been rearranged... eventually, she conceded and checked in the computer - making it seem like a personal favour!

Home terrible dentistry and not listening. I arrive with a molar that has fallen since the day before and the secretary asks me to come back on Monday, knowing that it corners with a weekend. The most horrible reception in the emergency room ...
The most horrible reception in the emergency room of Saint-Pierre hospital in 1000 Brussels.
Tuesday night I was hit by a van at a crosswalk. I was thrown 1.5 meters and fell flat on my back and head. The blow from the car came from the left side of the body - shoulder, arm, rib cage, thigh, whole leg.
Fortunately, the police were nearby and they called an ambulance. The ambulance doctors acted professionally, put on an orthodepic collar, put me on a stretcher and transported me to the ambulance service at Saint-Pierre hospital.
And then a real nightmare began.
After a while, the first doctor checked if I could follow his hand with my eyes and removed the orthopedic collar. And he asked - where it hurts in particular. It's the ankle that hurts the most - I replied. I was shown to the door to the x-ray room, where I waited 40 minutes.
The nurse was trying to do something while I was lying in the hallway on a stretcher. She gave me painkillers, reminded the doctor that I was still there.
After that I had an x-ray, but only my ankle. Then another doctor came 30 minutes later. I asked her at least to do an x-ray of my knee and rib cage (it was very painful for me to breathe). Again, I waited for an additional x-ray.
For 3.5 hours in the emergency room, nobody tries to get rid of my coat and my backpack.
I didn't think very well after hitting my head, so I didn't think about ordering an MRI of the head, and the doctor didn't suggest.
There was no broken bone on the x-ray. And the doctor said I could go home.
I rolled up my pants with difficulty and showed my very swollen knee. "No problem, just a hematoma" - said the doctor - "buy ice and apply". It was already midnight and I could move with great difficulty due to severe pain in my left leg. I went.
Now I would like to end this story. I wasted 10 days - asked my polyclinic to give me MRI prescriptions for my aching head and knee. Results I was operated on in the emergency room of the Erasmus hospital because Dr. Dr Youatou Towo from Saint-Pierre did not notice that my knee was broken and sent me home. Now two months of recovery !!!
I do not wish anyone to go to this hospital !!!

French by origin, while we were on vacation abroad, we had to be repatriated so that my husband could have emergency surgery for an upper retinal detachment. We first sought to be operated on in France (without any success) then our ophthalmologist based in Mons arranged for my husband to be operated on the day after our repatriation by Doctor Ladha at the St Pierre clinic. We were pleasantly surprised by the kindness and friendliness of all the staff (always a word for laughs which is good), the modernity and comfort of the premises and the human and professional qualities of Doctor Ladha.
A big THANK YOU to everyone, from the Mons ophthalmologist to the entire team at the St Pierre clinic for your care, your professionalism and your human qualities.
