Very disappointed. Wandered for 20 minutes trying to find a product and couldn't find anyone to ask. Lo and behold, the two girls shopping and having a great time were actually staff and had just been blatantly ignoring everyone- I didn't even know they worked there till I saw the walkie talkies. When I got to the checkout I tried to redeem the birthday gift but couldn't find the email, and the cashier didn't know how to navigate the app to tell me if the code was available there. As I'm searching, the girl asks me to step out of line. I've been part of the rewards program for 10+ years, you can't see when my birthday is and that it hasn't changed? You can't hand me a stupid mascara sample without asking me to step aside? I chose to just continue with the purchase and miss out. Not the best customer service.

I like the store itself just fine and have been shopping there for years.
But my salon experience ended up being horrible.
I asked for a pale yellow platinum color for my hair (over my natural light color and already bleached spots, so it should have been simple to get).
I left with white roots (before hand I had made it very clear I did not want white hair) and the rest a very ugly and too dark yellow.
Now I'll have to pay someone else, again, to fix their mess... Not only do I have hair that is both darker and lighter than I asked for, but now I'll have to damage my hair more to fix a problem that shouldn't have happened in the first place. Along with that, she created another problem where my roots are lighter than I want and I don't know how I'll even continue this hair in the proper shade.
They did a decent job on the person I went with at least. Unfortunately they made a mess of my hair and put me in a not so good position.
I would advise not to go to their salon, especially if you want platinum blonde done even half decent.
The stylist I had didn't even put the bleach on my hair in the proper order and should have known better.
I'm very disappointed and feel like she ruined what was nice hair and messed up on a simple request. On top of that, she didn't even acknowledge the mess she made of my hair. $130 something for someone to basically ruin my hair and leave me unsure of how to fix it.
I will never use their salon again.

I don't have much experience with Ulta but I was able to find hair products here that I couldn't find at Sally Beauty Supply. One concern I do have is that a hair volumizer mousse I bought here for $42. I later learned is available via Amazon Prime at less than $20. Worth doing some price checking if you aren't in a hurry!

I used to be a Sephora person ALL the way. But Ulta had really stepped it up on brands both high end and drug store. It's so much more convenient. Also, their rewards program is amazing and you get great deals. I don't even go to Sephora anymore.

First off let me say I love Ulta as cooperation, but the Elk Grove store is where I had one of THE WORST experiences in my opinion. I was with one of my friends and we were looking at the nyx matte lipstick section, and if your anything like me choosing the perfect color takes times. My friend and I had been there about 25-30 min occasionally we would to another section of the store then come back the nyx section, and in that time frame there was a gentle men following us, thinking it was a girls husband or boy friend we thought nothing of it. Until a lady mentions to us he had been following us around the whole store. He thought we were shop lifting. First time in my life I have EVER experienced that! I immediately felt like we were targeted because the way we looked. We weren't dressed to impress anybody but I never thought in a million years I would have undercover security following me around. I understand that's his job to find people who are shop lifting, but being bi racial and my friend being Latin I seriously felt targeted and out of place. I don't need to shop lift a 5.99 dollar lipstick.

No one there to help out. They don't carry Mac,my make up was rushed, not very good.

So addicted to this store! Helpful without being pushy and they have everything you never knew you needed.

My daughter shops there and loves it. I can't because all the scents bother my asthma.

I came to the salon for my first time ever. I wanted all over black hair and to trim my hair. It had been 1 year since I had a trim bc hairstylists make me nervous and I am desperately trying to grow my hair but due to health conditions, this is very difficult.
The stylist Mandy cut my hair into a bob. I was shocked but i tried to not get emotional. The black color did not take and my hair was still red. I went home super upset. 2 days later the manager fixed my color. However, I still have brown pieces all underneath my hair. I didnt bother crying about the length bc nothing can be done. The layers are choppy and do not blend well. In order to fix that more needs to be cut. I can't fathom it. I actually have to straighten or curl under the ends now...I am forced to style my hair and I had stopped using heat tools altogether for the purpose of strenthening and growing my hair.. I can't now and bc I have serious medical conditions it will be years to get those inches back. This was a terrible experience. I will not Ever use their salon again. I paid 120$. I wish i had not ever go into the salon.

The entrance reading is a generic for everyone which is fine however once inside the store looking for the product I need I was offered no help. I wasn t too sure where it was but then finally found it. I still wouldn t when I thought this line and was directed to where the line actually starts with charting have two additional people since I ve been up there. no biggie I can wait, However as I was next in mind the cashier decides that she s going to go or face merchandise instead of help me which was odd I kind of felt like maybe I wasn t wanted there she sees that the line is now building behind me and goes back to register Going incredibly slow which is awkward for me because I completely feel like she was trying to skip checking me out. Funny that the other cashier was able to finish with the customer she already had in line quicker than this person was able to log back in so cashier number one had to check me out. Ash*** was quick, very pleasant but the other kinda put me off. It was enough for me to look at Amazon which I have never ordered from before but will start it s much cheaper and Won t have to deal with the Burden of my presence

Rude manager by the name of "Kat!" To be honest, most of the staff here are extremely prejudice and apathetic towards customers. The cashiers are tacky and off putting. I definitely will not go to this location again.

One of the managers was rude and not very empathetic towards my request as I have a skin condition. With that being said staff is very helpful and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the rewards program-highly reccomend becoming a member if you're not.

I shop here every week! I love makeup period ! But some of the staff including the manager is an ass hole! Now my husband is normally with me when I stop by and he always goes behind me a buy me a few things but this time I picked up a lipstick that didn't have a display (normally it's empty) anyway I went to old navy he doubled back an got two items I can't wear They don't match my skin. Now 3 other ppl told me oh it won't be a problem to to get another color! The line always super long so the sales rep suggested I come in the late evening. Finally I caught them kinda empty last night just for the manager to say she can so anything keep in mind my husband spent over a hundred dollars but never keeps up with receipts. She was very very rude I already knew she was racist from my previous visitS

Looking for beauty products they have it all the only thing I don't like the very long que of line to pay and yet they are very slow to process

Friendly staff. It's feels like this Ulta may be bigger than the other ones that I have visited. Love the selection and the Benefit brow bar is the bomb!

I got my hair corrected at the ulta beauty salon, my experience was spectacular! Everyone was very friendly. My hair stylist Ali Voyles was AMAZING. She pays so much attention to detail, takes her time and delivers you your dream hair! I would highly recommend her for your hair services. I ve never been so satisfied! Thank you Ali, I m in love with my hair again!!

This store has gone down hill significantly the past few years. Employees hardly help you like before, non-testing products used by customers and left to buy like it's new. Products stored unorganized on shelves and done sloppy. Security uncomfortably stares and makes you feel uneasy. Half the time they don't have what you want and their lines take forever. Slow cashiers. And to think I wanted to work at this place 3 years ago . no way.

Got my hair done at thw salon. Corina was absolutely incredible. Also thwy were able to fit me in last minute even though thwy down one stylist and it was prom day.

Loved the high end makeup selection but a handful of displays look very disheveled like a Marshall's store. Very uncleanly. Stale air and heavily perfumed store. Nice service.

Love Ulta...love looking at all the products they have to offer

This place is terrible. Always out of everything. I checked online before I came in to make sure they had it (online doesn't tell you the quantity they have ) Says they do, I get there they have two and it's buy two get one free. I look around no one to ask if they have more. Always a long line to check out. At the check out I ask her if they can ship me the "one I get for free " sinces it's out. She says did anyone check in the back. Lol who is there there to ask??? Except at the check out. She says no we cannot send it to you. So I go home online and of course now I would have to pay for shipping. Whatever. Poor customer service, long lines and always out of stuff.

I ve been to this Ulta a few times because its the only one that is close to me. Every time I come in here I feel so unwelcomed and uncomfortable. I walk in, no one speaks or greets me OR even offers to help ! But someone else walks in they speak automatically. I really feel like they treat people of color highly different! I will never return back here. I left within being 10 minutes! No one helped me or anything at all ! I wish i could give negative stars ! Unless your a celebrity, causcasian, walking in with a full face, or look rich you will not be greeted with respect. Thats just how I feel

love ulta in general but the people who works there suckkkkssss!!!! can be rude and and not very helpful as the people who works in sephora. and get no help when im at the drugstore section. nobody is ever there and they seem most not wanting to help when i ask for something in that section. store associates also seem unfriendly or unapproachable.

4 1/2 the help was good. She advised me about my fragrance and suggested something better, same product, different size. She took me to the place I requested.
Not just showed me, she walked me over. She also didn't forced a upsale...

Always out of everything and getting help or asking a question is like pulling teeth.

"Open air" comfort when shopping in the aisles, so many great beauty brands to see! Cashiers are friendly, and have excellent product knowledge.

Nice place, generally clean but some of the displays can be messy due to missing/messy testers and staff is always friendly

Worst interview experience I've ever had. I got a call for interview for seasonal, went in for the interview, told me if I was hired on the spot will I be able to work the next day, I said "yes" again I signed the paper and everything. manager told me to come in for a orientation the next day so I did. Couple minutes had passed, the manager couldn't login my name and access to my files. She told me she will have to message to HR to see what's the issue. Later, an hour or 2 had passed she called back saying it was because my test scores was bad and didn't meet their requirements so she can't moved on with my application. But why call me in the first place for an interview and got my hopes high? I wouldn't recommend.

The sales associates are very knowledgeable in their area of expertise. This is a nice shop but sometimes the shelves are empty i wish they would just keep the shelves sticked since they know a lot if people shop here thats really the only downfall, but i love ulta

I personally don't care for the Elk Grove store. The Caucasian employees we're not helpful and nor friendly. I will never shop there again.

They have the worst customer service . I called to see if they have a product in store, the girl who answerd seemed irritated and short that I would even dare ask such a question, just said no they don't, it's online only, Didn't even look to see if they carried it. I asked for a manager who actually helped me, i heard her type the products in to the computer, and by golly! They do carry the product I was looking for in store. Glad the manager was going her job!

Found this store for the first time and loved the deal I got on shampoo I love

Great place to shop for cosmetics. Sometimes they have Great deals.

My wife loves this place. I don't have awhile lot to say, but there are some men's items to view while waiting for my wife. Though I struggle sometimes as its hard to look at shaving and hair clipping products for the hour+ I have to wait.

Customer service sucks. Five employees walked passed us and didn't even ask if we needed help finding anything. They are very unfriendly.

Found what I was as looking for, but the line was a bit ridiculous for the amount of items I was buying.

Just I can shake the fact, that a while ago, I made a return and never got the amount deposited back in my account. Couldn't complain because my receipt got threw away with the bag.

Terrible customer service, managers are also very rude and they tried to snatch things out of your hands so they can look at it, including your phone and wallet. do not come here go to a different store!

People can be nice if they aren't in their own world but actually look to help customers. I wish all Ultas would have a larger stock of anything they display in their sale adds....every single time I'm able to come in...the sale items are always gone! If you have a sale....stock it up!

The girl helping me find an eyebrow pencil suited for me was very friendly! She even offered to apply it on my eyebrows to see if it was the right color.

This store has made a huge turn around in the last year! I stopped shopping here due to them always being out of items and understaffed but now they always have a lot of people to help you and items are in stock or can be ordered and shipped quickly with free shipping. Yes they are always busy and I know that s not going to change, this Ulta is the busiest in the area due to it s location but the staff are super friendly and make themselves available to help in any way. I love Ulta and I love this location and staff!

Got my hair done. Enza is the best hair stylist. Highly recommend her.

I always have good experience with them, even if I go to counter and ask for my Birhday Gift and don t Purchase anything, they help you with everything soo nicely. People ask for help always. They r very sweet and well mannered.

Nothing is restocked. Everything is swatched and open. Every time I ask for a makeup remover wipe or liquid to remove the swatches on my arm, they tell me to wash it at the hidden sink, and the hand soap obviously doesn't do anything to the swatches on my arm. For a makeup beauty store, you would think that they would have makeup removers for the customers to remove makeup or swatches, especially when the consultant is trying new makeup on your face. I had a consultant take off the makeup, and the products she was using weren't working either.

Liz did an excellent job of cutting and styling my hair and I've enjoyed the products she recommended. I found the Ulta Salon in Elk Grove to be clean, efficient and professional in all ways. Definitely a pleasure!

This location is always busy no matter what time of day or day of the week. It seems they just don t have enough hired help. When I was next up, my return went smoothly. Would love for more assistants around the store to help, as I m no a browser and just want to go directly to what I m looking for and be done. The store has enough products in stock to glam anyone, just don t like the wait time for assistance or checkout.

Every time I enter this store I m not only followed for no reason other than my appearance , but the manager here enjoys talking to customers like they are children. I was approached today and told not to smell the cologne testers (?) and was told I was being watched on cameras. I felt like the manager at the time could have approached me & especially could have spoke to me differently (like a respectful adult) if there was a legitimate problem. After being a loyal platinum member at Ulta for years Im unfortunately very hesitant about taking my business to this location.

I love this place. Name brands and brands you can find at stores like Wal-Mart and Target. The brow bar is exceptional. Sign up and you can add points to apply to your next purchase or let them build up before using them. There's always clerk ready to help! Good parking and easy access!!!

My mother in law came here to go Christmas shopping and took advantage of some of the holiday deals at this store but unfortunately the cashier who helped her missed one of the items that was included in the sale and ended up over charging her so she went back the same day to get this corrected and the SAME cashier actually charged her AGAIN instead of refunding the over charged amount so now there are 2 charges needing to be refunded. She received one refund and now has to wait up to 15 days to have access to HER money. This is the most inconvenient time for something like this to happen. It wouldn't be so bad if the cashier didn't mess up TWICE and both times he seemed very distracted and more interested in flirting with the other cashiers than paying attention to my moms transaction and doing it right the first time. This experience makes me want to NEVER patronize this Ulta location ever again.

The salon "lost" my mother-in-law's hair appointment and then were not friendly or accommodating to get her another appt. We will not be using the salon there again.

Never go to this ulta to get your makeup done they'll make racial comments about your looks . Horrible

Rude and sarcastic staff. You ask them a question and they act like you interrupted them doing something important. When I was checking out for instance, I paid with an Ulta giftcard. Cashier asks me "What? You don't know if its a giftcard?" Because it didn't go through the first time. I hate going to this location! I thought after a year of not going to this one it will be better. Nope. Hire better people who knows a thing or two about customer service. If you want your company to stay successful.

I don't come here often, however I came here on Valentine's day, so I understood their business. But I was disappointed they were out of stock of some stuff I was looking for, like light shades of the Tart Concealers was SOLD OUT and employee told me they won't be back in Stock until the following Friday. And at the counter, the cashier failed to mention to me that with a $21 dollar purchase, I could get a free gift. I was at $18 dollars, so CLOSE!

Great selection of styling tools. Reasonably priced as well.

I love Ulta! On the weekends it gets super busy and it is harder to get the personal attention. But, some people already know exactly what they want, unlike me. Had an amazing eyebrow wax, but is more $$ than I am used to paying. Honestly, it was the whole experience you are paying for, not just a super quick eyebrow wax. The associate who did my wax was amazing and spent time answering lots of questions about products I had. So I That!

Came in on 2/19 because Tarte was having a promotion for a purchase of $35 and up to get a free water bottle. I originally came in on the 17th to get a Tarte foundation, but ended up waiting till the 19 to get it since it came with something cute that day might as well get something free since the foundation is expensive. Came in got the foundation asked if it came with the water bottle, not sure if it was the manager on duty but was told no the promotion was over and it was for the previous day. Explained that the Ulta book said it started the 19th she was very rude and said no I missed it and all extra water bottles would be sent back to the warehouse. I recently went back this week and saw the promotion at the Tarte isle, showing the free gift and starting "2/19" , I wish I would've gotten the employees name she was very rude. When I came in recently I told the cashier what had happened the week prior and she apologized and said I should've gotten the free gift and gave me one and verified the purchase I previously made. Long story short some employees are very rude here and will not check a simple paper to make sure what the promotions are and when they start and end. I do appreciate the other employee (Juliette) who helped me she's one of the nicer people at this Ulta.

Friendly staff, well organized shelves. If they are out of a product they will usually check a nearby store for you. They get re-supplied fairly quickly. They rarely have sales on name brands products that are a significant savings; you have to sign up for their rewards program to have the chance to save on your purchases.

I am so upset!! I was using a $3.50 coupon and asked if it worked the cashier person said yes but instead she took my points and used it! I was saving my points now all gone!!

I waited awhile just to checkin for my appointment. Felt a bit ignored, but they were pretty busy. Found out later its prom time lol

They need to hire more staffs as cashiers. There's always line and have to stand there forever. Also, the store needs friendly staffs in the costmetics area that are willing to assist.

I went to get my hair and my sister knew the lady who did my hair and she was super sweet. Her name was Mandy and I highly recommend her
