There is so many things about this place that soured my experience here. The seats are atrociously small and cramped. The staff is rude and looked at all the guests at the venue with this weird disdained look. But the worst offense was when I was standing just a little in the aisle and an usher told me to stand in front of my seat instead. To stand in front of my cramped seat, cramped next to other people who are impossibly close. Not to mention there were other people who were standing in the aisle anyway. In conclusion I would be happy if I never had to use this venue again.

Had to wait outside in the cold for almost 2 hours outside when the concert was supposed to start at 8. Some of the entrances were not open since the security system did not work. Even inside, we waited for an extra hour for the artist to perform. The sound system was bad at the beginning too, they made the artist go off sync with the music. The chairs are made of plastic and are uncomfortable. A$AP Rocky did a wonderful performance but due to the concert starting so late, he performed for less than two hours. Overall a horribly organized concert and arena.
Was in town for a graduation and the place filled up quickly even though we got there early. Sitting was hard to find and there were two levels. Parking lot and a parking garage right near the arena. Beware there are specific guidelines on what you can bring in. There are some concession stands around the area that you can grab food or drinks at.
BEWARE!! BEWARE!!! BEWARE!! BEWARE!! BEWARE!! This place SUCKS!! I had a horrible experience! I will never spend my money on any events being held here. I went to the New Year s Eve Comedy Jam with Cedric the Entertainer, D.L. Hughley, Bruce Bruce & Arnez J. The show was supposed to start at 8:00 p.m. At around 7:50 p.m., we were literally around the corner on Halsted for 35 minutes & on Harrison for another 40 minutes! There was NO TRAFFIC CONTROL & NO WHERE TO PARK! How can you have an event as huge as this & not hire anyone to direct the traffic or direct people on where to go! By the time we arrived at the main parking lot, the lot was closed. There was one person who told us the lot was full with NO DIRECTION ON WHERE THE OTHER PARKING LOTS WERE! THEY JUST TOLD US TO KEEP MOVING! We drove around looking for parking for at least 30 minutes! My husband & I ended up parking on a residential street (400 S. Van Buren) next to fire hydrant, hoping not to get ticketed. All of the surrounded parking lots were full! We didn't actually sit in our seat until 9:20 p.m.! In addition, we know 3 other couples who arrived around 7:45 p.m. & the doors to the Pavilion were locked. They did not let anyone in until 8:15 p.m. The line was around the corner. People were waiting in line in the cold to get in for at least 30 minutes. That is just ridiculous! The tickets weren t cheap & to pay that type of money to be treated like this is pathetic. Then the volume or speakers next to us were blown! You can barely hear the comedians. I ve never experienced this type of disrespect at any other venue in Chicago. I ve always had good experiences at The Arie Crown, Chicago Theatre, Soldier Field and United Center. Also, in the balcony, there are NO RAILINGS!! Please install for SAFETY REASONS!!
I attended the UIC Pavilion 4 times so far for different events. It's easy to locate, good nearby public transportation, a variety of close by restaurants/ pubs , a collegiate area and I feel comfortable while walking in this vicinity. The facility is very spacious and they have a variety of tasty & reasonably priced food at the concession stands. UIC Pavilion is clean and well maintained with adequate security as needed. add to this good outside lighting after dark . I find it to be a well run and organized event facility.
If you are looking for a venue to have your production in this is not a good venue. Tractor trailers can hardly get to the single truck dock which is down a steep alley and puts your truck in an uphill position to load and unload. And.. THERE IS NO DOCK! Get ready to add 2 hours on each end of your day.
AWFUL place for a concert. Parking lot isn't handicap friendly, seating in the stadium is tight, signage for seating is located on the steps which is hard to see if it's dark inside, no one on the second level to help you find seating, no hand rails to help climb the steep and scary stairs on the 200 level seating. People on the 100 level were climbing over the seats to get in and out. I saw the O Jays and frankie Beverly who are elder with an older audience. I saw alot of seniors struggling to get in and out of their seats. Took about 30 minutes to get through the parking mess. This place is in desperate repair of REMODELING. If you're with someone with a disability it's better to drop them off at the door and then park. LAST TIME I'll EVER Attend THIS place !
The reason for the 1 star rating is due to the inappropriate preparation anticipating of the patrons. We including others had to stand outside for 30-45 minutes for security screening. The powers that be should have coordinated with Ticketmaster to find out the approximate number of people attending the event. There was an inadequate amount of security staffing an a insufficient number of magnetometers. Patrons shouldn't be left outside waiting for such an extensive period of time. The concert was "EXCELLENT" although we missed the 1st act due to the delay waiting to get inside. Better preparation would be conducive. I hope that the Credit Union 1 Arena - facility head reads this! "Remember the word of mouth is the best advertisement." As Charles Barkley says "It was TERRIBLE, JUST TERRIBLE !"
This place will never get my money ever again. group of 6 and 3 girls had to throw their purses away they never said a word till your in security I will be contacting upper management and live nation it s a complete joke and customer service is lucky there was a glass there I felt like smacking the so called manager who told me it wasn t her problem but she can give us a refund
Went see a concert there was a crowd outside 20 minutes after the show started waiting to get in. Ushers didn't seat people in their seats. Their was many people that needed help to their seats and I observed alot of people on with walking canes. This place doesn't have railings to hold on to travel on the stairs. I wouldn't recommend this arena if you have a physical disability. Parking wasn't that great either.
I've been seeing shows here for many years. Phish, Wilco, Arcade Fire, Passion Pit, Stringcheese Incident, Widespread Panic. And those are just off the top of my head. Even the obstructed view seats aren't bad. You can always move around once you are in the venue. Roller Derby, basketball, this arena does sports too! Parking Garage just east of the venue and a lot across the street. Super easy mass transit options too.
It was a great place for the comedy show. Parking took some time bc of the crowd. I couldn't find valet parking. Martin Lawrence and his all star cast from Chicago was great
WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH THIS VENUE!! NO TELEPROMPTERS SO THE PEOPLE IN THE STANDS COULD SEE THE PERFORMANCES!!! NEVER WILL I GO THERE AGAIN TO SEE A CONCERT!!!
Security is horrible here for concerts we bought seats in top in front of the rails and people were standing in the front the while concert. Also when the main act came out at least 50 people stormed into the floor section jumping seats and rails security couldn't handle it.
It's a small arena that isn't too bad, but the acoustics are terrible for a concert. It's extremely hard to make out the words of the artist performing. I saw standup comedy there as well and that wasn't too bad. I guess it's better without music.
Worst place to have a concert or anything. We stood out in the cold for over 30 minutes trying to enter the Venue. It is very unorganized. They only had 3 doors open for people to enter, and they have 6 doors. The 2nd level seating is sp dangerous. It's very hard to pass by people to get to your seat, and it's so tight up there you can fall to the 1st level trying to get to your seats. Also the parking is very terrible.
Awful wait time to enter, the line was down the street on Harrison. We attended the Cedric The Entertainer and DL Hughley comedy show. The seats are crammed and uncomfortable. The outdoor lot and walkway was an ice rink. I will have to.pass any future events at this venue.
Young Thug & Machine Gun Kelley concert. Sat on the 2nd floor balcony so the equipment that was hanging from the ceiling was blocking the show so had a bad view..the arena was huge and lighting was ok. Washroom seemed pretty clean for a public place. Probably would've enjoyed it more if we were on the first floor with a better view. Lots of smoking and there was a little concession stand that sold beverages.
Seating is terrible and there are no accommodations for disabled persons. One usher told us that they didn't have an elevator which was a lie. There are also no washrooms on the main floor!!
Rude and inconsiderate staff (with the exception of one kind man whose name I didn't catch). Venue sounds like a tunnel and does not provide bag check.
