Breathtaking
The atmosphere there is really nice for reading
Lovely to look at and a lovely and calm place to study. Pretty good location within UCLA.
littered by homeless people, coming to sleep, eat, talking to their phones and make the chairs and table unsanitary. Try other libraries like charles E. young and Biomed if you are looking for a quiet place to study.
plenty of space and nice ac, steam is blocked so thumbs down.
Terrible If you want to use a computer from here is only for UCLA students and is funny because I am a student but not from UCLA and I couldn't use the computers because I'm not from UCLA if you want to use a computer here and you are not from UCLA you are a piece of nothing for them.
Just another piece of mesmerizing architecture at UCLA. Come and see for yourself just how incredible this place is. I do not mean just the library but the entire school!
A good place to study, take photos and meet friends outside.
Unique and Antique!
I probably wouldn t study in this library, but the atmosphere of the library is like jumping in a time machine to a library a few hundred years ago with different types of art and architecture in its interior.
If you are an art lover or someone who loves architecture, this is the place for you. If you want to study, I wouldn t recommend it. People are always talking, walking and disturbing so it s not a quiet environment.
UCLA Powell Library is staffed by inept, rude, and unhelpful students; without a professional Reference Librarian to be found.
I've had repeated difficulty getting student-employees to be polite, let alone helpful.
I really think UCLA should employ professionally trained librarians accountable to students.
Here's the Point: If you are a UCLA student and seriously need help, go to the Young Research Library, where *Actual* Librarians may be found, helpful & gainfully employed at an actual Library.
Best place to study and take a nap during midterms and finals. Beautiful architecture, row after row of bookshelves, has a computer lab, and old restrooms.
Beautiful library. I like to get a lot of my studying done in here. The bathrooms could be a bit cleaner but it compensates with the beautiful architecture.
Good library with beautiful exterior as well as interior. The restrooms smell awful.
Great place for books and to sleep. Haha.
For two quarters, I managed to not buy any books and read them entirely from the library. It's a problem with being a poor college student.
Excellent staff chill place to read some books or not. Couches are comfortable and within outlet reach~
Beautiful library. Great place to study with friends!
I see a lot of people sleeping here. I think this place should be nicknamed Powell Inn. lol But jokes aside, it's a very useful resource to borrow textbooks that may be too expensive or just to focus on studying (if you can ignore the sleeping people lol)
Great architecture, wonderful place to study. You can find lots of whiteboards and even study rooms, which makes this library unique.
Beautiful historic building with massive collections and professional and helpful staff! They also frequently hold interesting and fun events which are worth attending.
Probably one of the best libraries I have been to in the world. The feel you get here an out of the world experience. Reminds me of Harry Potter's Hogwarts. There are a number of books in a number of genres.
The staff is informative about their books. There is digital library too. You can relax here reading newspaper, books or just surfing the internet.
The oldest building in the university is also the Holy Book Collection Powell Library, built in 1929
My labyrinth of study as a graduate student. Got tons of writing and reflection done here. The architecture is amazing and the space has tons of resources to offer, both electronically and physically.
very kawaii. check it out for video games, comics, and lots of great literature. As for studying, the reading desks with light do not have power, but most of the desks do by the floorside. Printing and internet is offered for those with Bruincards. You will see random people you haven't talked to in years and chat a little with them too sometimes. Reserve books are here but I still haven't figured out how to use the scanner so I just walk over to another library and use the scanner. Arts has one.
This is an old library and its age shows in the restrooms. Aside from that though, it looks very historic and there's a beautiful rotunda design. You can also catch students sleeping in the library during finals week.
If you're on a UCLA tour, park your car in the Park 4 visitor's parking lot and explore the Powell Library. Do not miss the night view after sunset!
It feels weird to say that I spent some great nights in this place but it's true. Absolutely epic building, with tons of beautiful details in the architecture.
I didn't think we could enter instead it was open
place of absolute silence and very beautiful to see
