Great place the love holiday jam concert they do with Pete Hewlett and Scott Anderson!!! Amazing
Must see all Urban Impact productions that are put on at this Theater they are awesome and will bless you!
An excellent establishment with a fine record of innovative performances. Great local arts support programs
Great performing arts center. Fully renovated and beautiful venue in the heart of Pittsburgh.
This theater has a unique mix of aesthetics. The outside is an old stone facade, followed by the lobby which is modern, and finally the theater stage/seating are industrial minimalist. I like that the lobby has a bar that serves drinks at certain shows. They host a good variety of shows at this theater, I would recommend it.
Lovely venue where there are no bad seats in the house.
This is a great theater with a great history. Fans of a racist comedian are flaming the reviews here. Fans too stupid to understand the limits of free speech.
This is one of the most beautiful theaters I've been to. Small and personal.
Love the building and the intimate atmosphere. Really good acting, especially the lead. A natural actor! I will definitely try to get to their next production.
What a pleasant intimate venue to watch a play. Went to see Billy Hartung in "the big fish". Billy was excellent with a very memorable performance. The place provides beverages before and at intermission, easy access to bathroom facilities. I would have enjoyed a little more padding in the seats.
My first time there but will definitely return
This is a really great, small venue to see a show. I didn't feel squished into my seat too badly.
Pretty good venue. Side balcony seats are a bit intimidating, if you're sensitive to heights.
The cowards who operate this establishment cancelled a favorite comedian of mine because they don't believe in freedom of speech or the autonomy of free people to hear one of the funniest guys in the country tell some jokes.
Seats are very uncomfortable. Snacks were outdated. SHOW WAS GREAT.
The theater itself was cute. Pittsburgh style, bricky and modern. Cool light fixtures inside. The seats are stadium style..somewhat cramped and not very padded. The bathroom is huge with funky tile and mirrors. We had a great time. Snacks and wines available. We parked on the street for free. I look forward to another show.
Great venue for different performances, conferences or just meetings.
Your programs need to diversify. Stopping an act for something you read in the media is very sad, and goes to show why places like yours are stuck in historic rhetoric.
We attended a wedding here and it was beautifully intimate with great service!
Does NOT support Freedom of Speech. They say they encourage diversity, yet cancel comedian Owen Benjamin due to a few phone calls. This theater only believes in diversity if it's on one side. They don't realize many of the theater goers they are turning away with these decisions are also the DONORS that makes some of the productions possible. We have donated to a local theater company, for years, that puts on performances at this theater. Unfortunately, now that theater company will no longer receive our checks. Not another penny will be spent on anything affiliated with this theater!!
In its many incarnations over time, the New Hazelett remains a wonderful resource to the Pittsburgh arts community. Primarily a rental space for Pittsburgh's small and midsize theater companies, the space adapts to almost every production type. This theater is especially suitable for avant garde works which want to work at multiple levels.
Worth mentioning is the New Hazlett's CSA (Community Supported Arts) program. This program invites emerging and mid-career artists to propose larger theatrical productions to a juried panel. Chosen applicants receive technical, fundraising and promotional support from the theater. The end result is some of the freshest, most engaging theatrical and/or multi-disciplinary productions the city has to offer. I especially enjoy the "talk backs" at the end of the production.
As a person with mobility issues, I find it challenging to enter. Not all disabled people use wheelchairs. The long ramp for entry, the double set of steps and the distance of parking all influence what I choose to see. But, since it tends to have the most relevant contemporary programming in the city, I find a way.
Saw PrimeStage's production of The Diary of Anne Frank. Very good production.
Urban Impact Live! was fantastic
What an impressive show! And, we love the theater. No bad seat in the house!
The New Hazlett has some great shoes, but the physical comfort of the seating detracts from the experience.
The new theater is wonderful..no bad seat in the house...an intimate setting as well
Love this venue for either plays or musical performances. Nice wrap around seating arrangement keeps all the seats close. Street parking is kind of hit or miss but there is a pay lot right across the street. Nice place with an impressive artistic vision.
Good performing arts space with good car and pedestrian access
I have seen a couple shows here, and they were fantastic. The actors are professional and very good at what they do... I would even go as far to say that The Christmas Carol performance I saw at this venue was the best I have seen anywhere! I think the intimacy of the small theater is my favorite thing about this place. I love the rusticness and the creative appeal the whole building offers its patrons. It's inviting and comfortable... and I find it a very interesting and fun place to enjoy a relaxed night of theater. I wish I lived closer to take advantage of it more.
Very intimate setting. Great location and great performances.
Was great love the actors. The ending was a twist but great
I completed in the pantry competition with the secret ingredient of raisins. I made a chicken roulade with raisin cauliflower stuffing. I really enjoyed the opportunity to compete and had everyone enjoy my food.
The former Carnegie Hall in the North Side; now a sleek theatre space and event venue.
A great courtyard theater with some very good local talent.
Saw Production Of Pippin by the Pittsburgh Musical Theater. Was a wonderful ad how so many talented young performers.
I love the Hazlett - way back to when it was home to the Pittsburgh Public Theater. This was the annual Food Pantry event. Chefs from around the city cooked baked Anand created samples for a ticket holder to partake. A samba band played from the balcony. It was a lovely event! The event is by Northside Common Charities, a wonderful group out to house and feed the fringe of society. You know them. Trump wants to eliminate them. Thank God for caring people.
Great space for all kinds of performances. Space is open with seating on 3 sides. Sound is always good quality. They can project on screen for events. Bar is small and provides variety of adult beverages, sodas and snacks. I've been there for a musical, a play and multiple speakers.
I've loved every performance I've been to here. The actors/actressess are so talented.
Can't possibly say anything bad when Johnny Angel and the Halos are involved! This was our first time at the New Hazlett Theater and surely won't be the last. Great seats and an awesome performance by the Halos added up to a really enjoyable night out on the Northside. Can't wait to go there again!
Saw Front Porch production of Fun Home. It was gret!
Cool theater/venue. Very fun staff and the show was emceed by Bill Rodgers. A very warm, inviting atmosphere.
The theater is quaint, the only complaint is that the seats are pretty thin and kind of odd.
I love this theater. All seats are good seats, just parking can be an issue.
Awesome to be able to see great performances in your neighnorhood, just a walk away.
Comfy theater with a unique layout and an immersive stage. Saw their production of The Outsiders and was thoroughly impressed by both the direction and creativity as well as the technical prowess. This is an all-around pure Performance Art experience. Definitely visit whether you're local and haven't gone, or are a tourist in the area conveniently like I was. Bravo!
August Wilson How I Learned What I Learned with Wali Jamal was a wonderful and moving production.
Theater is very nice, seats are a bit hard after the first hour, but very intimate.
Really unique space - it's great how there isn't a bad seat in the house!
Very interesting venue! I was there for special event and it was fantastic! Very well organized! I will return!
Great performances in a small theater setting. Its great to be so close to the performers. No bad seats! Beautiful old building!
Beautiful theater! We come here for the Texture Ballet Theater Family shows every few months and love the family friendly atmosphere, large bathrooms, nice lobby and wonderful performance space!
A bunch of racists practicing racism openly!! Shut this place down! Apparently its "WHITES ONLY" as they wouldnt let Eric Nimmer perform bc hes an intelligent black man!
No venue quite like it in Pittsburgh for concerts and dance performances
Medium sized theatre with an intimate feel and a "theatre-in-the-round" seating arrangement.
