Great value. There are achievable scholarships and high ranked class. 2019 incoming freshmen class average act 29. The dorms all share common area(4 people room), but you have your own private bedroom and share a bathroom with only one person. Depending on your dorm it could be very old and in need of repairs. It is safe but not the best looking. There are great professors for the most part (like any other place there are also the questionable). Over all one of the best values for college.

A ton of people will have different opinions on this particular university, but I'm going to speak from a student's perspective.
That being said....
I LOATHE UAH! I have spent five years at the university with little support from the faculty or my peers. I am only half through my major. The professors seem to only be concerned about research and the money coming into the school. I have been talked down to and yelled at by them with no corrective action ever being taken. The overall atmosphere becomes bland with time. Education (in the old sense of the word) is meant to be an enlightening experience.
I still haven't had that moment yet at the university.
The way UAH is structured does not promote education, yet instead aids those who are gifted enough to contribute to the school. In other words, they pull in the most brilliant minds and discard the rest, but that is just my experience.
I got my Master's at UAH and enjoyed going to school with some of the brightest people from all over the country. The university continues to grow and improve, and when you graduate, you can find a well-paying job in the area.
This college is a hidden gem here in North Alabama. The area is beautiful. The campus is nice and clean everywhere. Constant construction and continued growth should be the norm for this campus for several years to come. My money and my kid goes to UAH. GO CHARGERS!!!!
I am a former employee with UAH grounds department . I worked with them for right at a year and was terminated once then rehired. The head of the grounds department called me and asked me to come back to work because he had made a mistake. I was terminated because of the careless and poor work ethic of another employee . We had done a parking lot clean up job and it was not done to completion .I told that employee that job was unacceptable and I felt like it was sub standard work. He had worked there longer than I and said it would be okay and we would get it later, so I said okay but I still think we need to get this done right .The supervisor saw it and we were called to his office . A day or so after ,I was called to his office and was terminated . The person I was working with later confessed it was not my fault and I was rehired . A few months later , I was at work and was called in for a review . After my review , I received a phone call from an employee saying they needed some pruning shears . I went to the site they were working at and was confronted by another employee I had previous negative dealings with . That employee first shoved me and then hit me in the face twice . I never retaliated nor laid a hand on that employee . I instead reported the incident to the head of the grounds department . The police were notified and there was a police report filed. I was sent home and went to the hospital for minor injuries and to be checked out .A few weeks later after being out of work with no pay ,I received a letter in the mail telling me I had been terminated from my job.The letter had come from the same person who previously terminated me. The letter stated that I had came to that job site and initiated the altercation which was not true seeing as to that employee was not the one who reported the incident nor was that employee injured,I was . The other employee did not have a scratch on him so the truth was quite self evident . I later went to UAHs website to look at their employee roster and apparently, this employee still has his job .When I came into that job ,I was a permanant hire on because of my 30 years of experience in that field and I also have a degree with honors in Landscape Management . The employee who accausted me got hired on from being a temp who had NO experience in that field of work. I was accausted then fired from my job ,that employee kept his job .Now, I really cannot make heads or tails of how that employee was able to keep his job when the head of the Grounds department knew good and well what actually happened, but the letter I received was a plethora of fabricated lies . The only conclusion I can come to is that they cater to certain employees more than others . Also, for them to allow this to happen at all without that other employee not being terminated is nothing short of deplorable and unacceptable . The work place is supposed to be a safe place for ALL employees . I was set up by his friends then accausted by that employee and nothing was done in my favor . I got terminated and that employee kept his job .Again , unacceptable! Apparently his friends at the job site told the supervisor something way different from what really happened and due to their lies, I got shafted .Well there we go , the lesser qualified employee gets away with a criminal act and keeps his job and I get unjustly terminated then the case gets dropped and swept under the rug . Shame on you UAH and shame on the UAH grounds management, you know who you are. If I had more witnesses in my favor ,I would have sued UAH ,the person who accausted me and the supervisor who fired me and who knows , maybe just one honest person with any degree of integrity may just step forward and the truth come out .As for rating UAH ,you are not even worthy of the one star rating and the only reason you got that was so I could do this write up . Letting others know the kind of things that go on behind the scenes whether they believe the truth or not seems to be the only way I can find closure to this Injustice for now.
I'm a visitor and they have a pretty good looking campus, but UAH has this funny road closure going on in front of Morton Hall. Makes it so that visitors not familiar with the current campus aren't sure how to get where they need to go. I recently had to park about a half mile from a meeting I was going to because I didn't know how to drive closer. Fortunately it wasn't raining and I like walking, but not everybody is that way.
UAH has a beautiful campus with great new facilities. During my day long visit I was very impressed with Charger Union, and particularly charmed by their open ping pong table. All the students and faculty I met were very friendly.
This school is undergoing a rigorous marketing campaign at the expense of the student. The administration needs to understand that students don't come to UAHuntsville to party they come to get a degree. UAH is always constructing worthless buildings to give the image of a party school when it is not. They tore down a functional building that could have been used for academics (Madison Hall) to build a welcome center (I think there are more than enough buildings to accommodate tours). UAH please work on making this school actually prestigious before investing in the facade of a party school when you are actually a degree mill
UAH won't give you anything. It is what you make of it.... and A LOT can be made out of the university. You have to go get it at UAH.
Seriously, go and you shall find at UAH. And if you do not find, create and after a while you shall find funding to do what you want to do. Doing stuff like filing patents and working with NASA all in your undergrad happens here for those who seek (ask me how I know).
I graduated with an aerospace engineering degree in 2009. When I started there in 2004, everything was great. When President Franz (I think was his name) retired, and king William came in, UAH started a downhill swing. Just glad i got out of there with my degree, and only had to deal with William's corruption for a short time.
First semester and loving it! Very clean, love the green space, too. Bring your inner geek and tech nerdiness! They have a lot of great clubs geared for nearly everyone, very nice advisers and instructors, and have a diverse group of students to meet and work with. I am a transfer student from a community college and really benefited from the transition course they offered. It definitely helped to have class with fellow transfers and get comfortable with this very big campus. Looking forward to the hockey season as well, Go Chargers! :)
Parking is garbage. They give us no room, as commuters, to park. Then they give us tickets for parking "out of zone". Just another way this place is grabbing for money. I pay thousands of dollars to go here, you think they'd actually give us some priority and give us room to leave our cars. What am I supposed to do with a 3 ton vehicle? We need room that they won't give us, and then punish us for their incompetence. The professors are fine but those who are in the lead of this place are more useless than a Gender Studies degree.
