People over there do not want to work or Help. They were already hesitate to work 20min till lunch hour just because they can!
Asked to speak with supervisor but refused. And then whoever the supervisor was very defensive and talking down to us like we're an idiot.... basically they didn't want to help when we had a EMERGENCY situation.
Give them 1star is even charitable.

The service use to be excellent. You could either walk in or make a reservation to see and Consular Officer and they always wanted to help. Now you just get automated prerecordings.

The biggest problem with the US Embassy it the Korean phone operators at hand. When you ask them to speak to Consular Officer they say "what for" and wants to be in charge of the situation rather than help.

With due all respect their language skills and comphrension of US bureaucracy isn't always great. So I just don't understand why they constantly try to prevent us from speaking to a consular representattive.

We went here thinking we will see US Embassy, but there isn't much to see, it was more of a waste of time, although I didn't really check if we were allowed to go in.
I was just hoping to take a picture front of the US Embassy sign.

I consulted on the phone, but the counselor didn't listen to the contents properly, and repeated the words over and over, and responded to the questions as if they were insulting. Before connecting the agent, a message prompting you to be kind to the agent appears.

As soon as I tried to ask a question about the US school accreditation certificate over the phone, I said, "It's not during business hours, and I don't know anything. I'll quit." Does this make sense ... It's a waste of tax.

Been there last month for my tourist visa application and embassy staff were helpful to guide me where to go and what should I do during that time. Luckily I was approved! God bless, America!

We've been to the Embassy a few times due to having a child while in Korea. They've always been very helpful, even despite COVID-19.

We are leaving in a month and a half and had to get an emergency passport. We were initially expecting a few weeks. When we arrived, they said we'd get it in a few days by courier, then we had it in our hands before we left less than half an hour later.

The piece of mind provided was invaluable.

All of the American and Korean staffs I met in the embassy were very professional and friendly except one female clerk on the line which is bilingual Korean.
I estimate her age is over 50 after her voice anyway...
I have encountered her on the line only twice over 6 years (last time was a year ago) but I can't forget her because she was extremely arrogant from the start. She seemed very annoyed with her task.
And she was unkind especially to Koreans.
Quit your job if you don't like it or please do not ruin the honor of the US embassy.

The person that helped me had some attitude problem. She was curt and very unpleasant. She reminded me of a DMV worker in the States. At first, I thought it was just this one worker who was unfriendly. But it didn't end with her. I was told to pay at the cashier's window on the 2nd floor where a guy assisted me. And, he was just the same--rude and unhelpful! They really need to train these embassy workers to assist people with better attitude. After all, their job is to provide services, and not exhibit arrogance and be rude.

I didn't want to be in line, and I didn't want to blush because of the unfriendly staff, so I left it on behalf of the delivery service. It is convenient to leave the certification of the US embassy to the company.

Because of the non-immigrant visa interview, I went up to the 2nd floor, but one of the female staff (who is very small, has a small head, thick eyes, and slightly thick lips) checks the documents before waiting in line. Give it to me. " I was nervous and accidentally pulled out another document, but replied that way. My birth date is all out, so I was a little older than myself, so I asked some older woman. Ah ... it was really unpleasant.
I tried to see the name of the employee, but I didn't see it because the employee ID necklace was upside down.

Just across from the statue of King Sejong the Great (if you're looking directly at the seated King, it's to your right. Also- go around the right side of the building to the window. You have to check all electronics, including batteries. Only 1 phone, no larger electronics- tablets/laptops allowed.) Friendly and cordial staff. You can pay in US dollars or Korean Won, but you need the exact amount, you can't overpay nor can they give change. Credit cards also accepted.

Worst embassy I've ever been to. They are super rude, never answer my questions, and just genuinely don't care about their US citizens abroad. The entire building is surrounded by barbed wire, police officers and security cameras. I didn't know I needed an appointment and they didn't allow me to even drop off my documents for passport renewal even though I can easily prove I'm a US citizen. Go there if you like people being rude to you.

Some tips: They're very strict about the one cell phone policy. If you have to store extra devices, use the lock boxes at Gwanghwamun Station exit 2. They accept credit cards as payment with $50 USD=60,000krw so use USD if possible.
