i little place on the great Apache Trail. Love the road. and a nice stop.
This is a fun, unique place to eat up by canyon lake. The food is good, the service is fast, the environment is fun! Little tidbit...go in the restrooms if you want a good laugh!
Great atmosphere. Service is great. A bit noisy. Delicious food.
Great restaurant , great drive. Entire Apache trail was awesome.
This is a must stop along the Apache Trail. Try the saloon for better than average fares and be sure to ask how much cash is on the walls...you'll be surprised and amused.
Nothing much to see. They need to perk up. The Sales staff should be knowledgeable about their products
Loved the chili with tortillas. Worth the trip if you want a little bit of something to do and a little bit of a trip. Population of 8, Tortilla Flat is a town. It has a general store, a souvenirs shop, restaurant, bar/saloon, restrooms... Well that is all you need for in the middle of nowhere. Would be 5 stars, but prices are a little salty.
Always a fun place to visit. Old west character. Restaurant has plenty of choices and outdoor seating for sunny days with live music during the cooler season.
The service was excellent. The nachos were very good. The atmosphere was very interesting and a must see.
Great service at a busy time. Food came fast and hot and Delicious! Had a great server, she was attentive and very professional. Gave her a tip that was worthy of her exceptional service.
Food wasn t great, bad bar food, but the atmosphere is fun and lively. No alcohol only beer and wine. I wouldn t go back but it was better than nothing when you re hungry in the middle of nowhere.
I visited here with family in late February of 2020. Parking is along the side of the road that runs through here. I was also informed that there was another parking lot but I did not see it as our driver really wanted to avoid it. Draws here include an old fashioned ice cream parlor and small wooden one room museum. There is also a gift shop. The main attraction here, though, seems to be the Tortilla Flat restaurant which is truly unique with its interior wall decorations. I especially liked the men's restroom wall art! While there is often wait for restaurant seating, you are given a beeper which vibrates when you table is ready thus you are free to wander around while waiting. Our vibrated after 30 minutes. The service and food was good. I would say Tortilla Flat is worth a visit and useful for showing out of town guests.
Cute little tourist stop with beautiful moutian and lake views!
An iconic place on the old Apache Trail. I give it a 5 for atmosphere. We had the burger and fries with a soft drink each. They were a 3, just average. The fries were kind of cold, the burger was ok but nothing spectacular. The bill was about $30. I would come back because of the drive out and it's an icon.
The best (and only ) restaurant for miles! Seriously, though, the food and service were excellent. We had a great time. Prices were reasonable.
Very tourist oriented. Prices high at shops and restaurant. Food very spicy but good. Our waitress was hurried and rude. Streets rolled up at 7 pm.
Such a cute place. I recommend The Prospector sandwich.
The portions were huge as shown in the pictures. Friendly staff and excellent service. Beautiful drive. Music a little loud and we had a pesky fly but not a deal breaker.
Funky little place, historic in that is is where the 20 mule team from Roosevelt Dam stopped going to and from Phoenix for supplies while the dam was being built. Now it's a great place to stop for lunch and a prickly pear ice cream driving the Old Apache Trail, day trip, from Phoenix past the Roosevelt Dam with a stop at the Tonto National Monument through Miami/Globe then back to Phoenix. One of my favorite day trips
Love this place! It's a classic old western post. Hope it stays here forever. Great views cold drinks. The owner is a real stand up kinda guy. Nice hanging out with him today.
The views on the drive there are amazing. Good beer - perfect stopping spot.
Went there in 92 great place to visit have the roads improved going to the dam
Very good chimichangas and snows and very nice place
Cool little tourist stop with a bar that had dollar bills all across the walls....and prickly pear ice cream!!
Very popular spot for taking a short rest before a long drive to the other lakes. Parking is a nightmare on the holiday day. The restaurant is very unique with lots 1 dollar bills nailed on the wall.
Cold beer, great food, get there early the place gets very busy.
Good food..lots of indoor or outdoor seating. LUNCH IS NOT AS BUSY.
GREAT burgers and beer.
So far great place! Awesome drive from Phoenix! Being your camera! People are so welcoming!
Not really much here. You can get your Tonto pass here, which you will need? Hard to say if we could have gone without it or not. Otherwise, just a few stores selling typical souvenirs. Will take all of 15-30 minutes to browse around before heading to one of the lakes.
Expensive place to go. Getting there on one lane road is what it's all about beautiful
Cool place for food and drink in the middle of the canyons.
This is a fun little stop with a cute gift shop and yummy homemade fudge.
A beautiful scenic drive with very winding road crossing through 2 single lane bridges over Canyon Lake.
I think the food is great and our server was excellent! We especially like their house brew pale.
We visit Tortilla Flat at least twice yearly during our winter stay in Mesa.
Never disappointed!
Very busy during the winter months but hey, it s a great place to spend a couple of hours so chill out and enjoy!
Cute little stop along a beautiful scenic drive. There is a restaurant and some cute western stores. General store has amazing homemade ice cream and the best homemade turtles we've ever had but they are pricey 5$ a piece but a must try for turtle fans
Atmosphere is lovely. Great place to stop before the lake, great food and ice cream!
Fun, old, beer, burgers, french fries, salads.
Little bit pricey can't really cook a burger, chili was pretty good.
Home of the Superstition Saloon. You can't miss it when riding the Apache trail. Very friendly staff. Here you can learn about the legend of the Lost Dutchman, Jacon Waltz who was actually a German.
Really beautiful ride. If you're in Arizona for vacation or just want a place to ride or drive to for some sight seeing I definitely recommend it. The road down is a little bit bumpy because they're doing repairs (rode down in February 2018) but, definitely worth it. The food at the restauraunt is alright.
If you are driving up Apache Trail it is the only place to eat for miles. That being said the hamburgers were pretty good.
Great place for lunch before leaving the paved road on the Apache Trail
This is a bit of a tourist trap. There are lots of families and snowbirds. The place is neat. The drive is amazing. Go a few miles past if you have the chance.
Great place to visit. Great food and beverage. Fun place for your family and friends.
Took my visiting friends from Chicago on a short drive to see some different landscape than flat Apache Junction. We enjoyed the curvy drive along the Apache Trail through the canyons and hills. Stopped to overlook Canyon Lake then desended to the shoreline and then onto Tortilla Flats. Sat at the bar in the old saddle stools. Explored the mercantile gift shop for souvenirs, then got ice cream cones before heading back to Apache Junction then Gold Canyon. The view siting on the benches in front of the gift shop facing west was stunning looking up at the cliffs. *Caution* the drive could be hazardous during hours of darkness, not many guardrails.
This place is awesome. The views, the people we met were very friendly, the Lake is beautiful. Bathrooms were very cool. Wheelchair accessible.
One dollar bill posted everywhere, people wrote the day they were there and there name then glied them up.
I saw some from 2007. I am talking about the Superstition Saloon of course at Tortilla Flat. There is even
a place to get Ice Cream.
Blessings, John
When we have visitors we always take them to Tortilla Flats. Beautiful drive, good food when you get there.
Always a scenic drive and an interesting place to stop for food, a beer and ice cream. BTW - I would suggest ONE beer - otherwise the drive back can be precarious!
If you are planning to take the Apache Trail all the way to Roosevelt Dam, just know this the last civilization for a while. Thus, use all of the facilities, buy a drink and snack, and a gift, and hit the trail!
The Tortilla Flat restaurant is a hoot. Friendly waiters and good Western food. But the highlight is the decor: hundreds of thousands of one-dollar bills, donated by customers over the years. They say the count is now more than 400,000 ones.
Busy azz place! Tourist trappy Camp grounds only half open, bathrooms locked. Pretty walk down to creek
What a lovely place. Great drive from As Pacheco Junction. Make sure you stop in the store and saloon, try to figure out how many dollars are on the walls and ceiling. It is truly amazing.
I don't remember what day of the week it was that we stopped in but it was a zoo! If you are going to eat here stop in and put your name on th list and get a pager. Then go look around at the other buildings. The 3 of us sat at a table with 3 other people, at a table for 8. We soon became friends. Our food was good.
This place is a definite place you should go to if you're heading up to Canyon Lake
Food was good staff was nice service was fast considering the amount of people that were there
Great place. I mean a freaking awesome place. Cosmic. Great food. Reasonably priced beer.
The drive to the restaurant was beautiful. Had a great time at the lake and hiking near Tortilla Flat restaurant. Walked in and asked the hostess if any of the items on the menu were wheat free. I explained that my son has a wheat allergy. She sarcastically laughed and said I don't know but the food is good. We left and drove to los gringos locos in Apache Junction where we had a great meal after asking if they had wheat free options. We left a big tip and will definitely eat at Los Gringos Locos again!
