Nice quiet hotel. Well situated. Breakfast ok, nice rooms.
Good setup, comfortable and good breakfast. Well placed for transport.
The one person room is a tiny cell. Being placed in a room surrounded by rooms that are occupied by groups doesn't really give me the feeling that I'm in a hotel for which I paid 100 GBO per night. I have the feeling I accidentally landed in a hostel. People are loud, running around, hammering against doors. I'd be surprised not to find vomit in front of my door. I'm placed right beside the laundry room or something like that. All night it has been extremely loud. I thought its the AC but noticed the room right at my window with the lights on all night. So I had to keep my blinds closed. That way I couldn't let any fresh air into this tiny hot cell. For the price I paid I can expect way more. Yes, even in London. I will most certainly not have breakfast for 15 GBP when there are great places around to get some for half of the price. Also the hotel has two buildings. I'm in the second building, so to go to the pool I'd have to walk to the main building.
Would not at all recommended a stay at this old hotel. Carpet on the floor..... What hotel does that? Do you know how much stuff lives in there? I will talk to the staff in the morning and I want a new room with the guarantee to be able to sleep. But this is a joke. The only good thing I see is the location close to bus and underground to get away from here.
Good informal hotel. Very good breakfast buffet starting early for business and early travel.
Good place to stay good accomodations, good restaurant.
Booked a friend in for a couple nights, while he was visiting me, was a good hotel for the price but nothing special. Room was large enough to get in a takeaway and enjoy
Older and low standard bathroom. The cleaning could be better. But very good breakfast. Friendly staff.
Nice comfortable hotel. Room was basic but clean. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was really good.
Kind of old fashioned, but nice staff, comfy hypnos bed, and a very acceptable breakfast. Bit of a trek to the underground if you're dragging baggage..
We, my husband, our 6 year old daughter and myself, were there until yesterday watching the football game & sightseeing. We were already in London years ago and knew that this time we had to spend a little more for the hotel. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the room. We were in the seemingly older part of the hotel, rooms musty, windows read perhaps 10 cm open, bathroom moldy on the ceiling by the humidity, since no window. No longer sucked under the beds, noisy, you could understand every word of the neighbors, corridors cluttered and also getting old, everything designed with musty carpet. We booked without food, had breakfast around the corner in the Central Cafe and a street further, both highly recommended. In the evening we were eating near the Eagels Pub Burger or in London City. The sights were awesome, from morning to night on the way, have seen a lot, only 1 day a bit worse weather and the middle of October .... London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, Hayd Park, Tower Bridge, Hamsley Toy Store, Outlet Store Wembley, Wembley Stadium .... All Top. With the Underground everything very easy to reach. Conclusion London yes, hotel no.
Conference facilities good standard, did not see much else of hotel
We stayed in about one year ago and we would like to come back. It is very nice and it's easy to visit London from there by feet or by underground
Room OK, hotel a bit impersonal and staff sometimes not helpful. Good breakfast. Swimming pool should open at 7.00am on weekdays. Some belongings disappeared and I knew they were in room but no one found it.
Not the most scenic location, but cheap and pretty close to the city.
Staff are attentive and friendly. Room is nothing special, but is clean and has usual amenities like tea/coffee facilities. Haven't tried to pool/spa. Bar is well stocked and there is a nice atmosphere
Friendly staff and good location. Rooms are adequate for the low price.
Pros: great amenities... sauna, jacuzzi and pool
Cons: the second building is dated and worn, the room wasn t as advertised, I ll not be back
Rooms a little dated but a good size. Could do with air con throughout the hotel too. A little far from any tubes so had to get taxis.
Was on a training course for 2 days. Location was okay. Room was a good size and layout good but the seats were not good enough to sit on for a full day. Really not comfortable. The coffee provided was a bit weak. The food was okay, very good brownies!
I came here for a Speed Awareness Course so cannot review the hotel but the staff I met were helpful and the conference room we were in was clean.
The way from the hotel to the underground is about 10 minutes ... so no problem with walking with suitcases.
In the hotel itself ... Breakfast was okay, they still had to work on the coffee, but otherwise everything was included.
When it comes to the rooms, you unfortunately notice that nothing has been renovated in a long time. Unfortunately, the cleanliness could have been better.
All in all, for people who are not in the hotel much ... it just fits
Good hotel with really friendly staff, I would regimens eating at the restaurant across the road if you have time.
Nice toiletries and soft beds, but our neighbours were a little loud so didn't get as much sleep as we would have wanted.
Good hotel well located in the center. Good english breakfast. Too bad the guy who takes care of breakfast told us that lunch was not included when it was (we had to go through the home to prove him wrong). The bedding is very comfortable but the decor is not too modern.
All so personally I can absolutely recommend this hotel! IF YOU ONLY SLEEP THERE! Otherwise it was a catastrophe (full the dump) staff friendly location rather modest average walk 1 hour and more unfortunately not to be recommended if you don't pay attention to how the rooms are rocked down can it be good to stay overnight I personally never again. Edit: we had fingernails and a deep-fried moth in the food probably got the toz all check-in to the room in general there they were so colant and moved us because after the 4th flush of the toilet nothing went ... the 2nd room was then in Business wing but also not much better (mold on the ceiling) here again expressly the warning against this hotel let it be better and book something else
Breakfast good. Room was pretty basic and and a bit too hot. Well priced but a bit too far away from the tube for central London.
Staff friendly and accommodating guests. I am satisfied with the hotel and amenities. Price quality level good. Breakfast hearty and tasty, varied.
Wanted to love this hotel and would have given it more stars had the people in the reception desk been more welcoming and friendlier. Hotel in good location close to several places to eat and close to public transportation. Room had a great size, comfortable bed and good sized bathroom as well. Like I said, I would have given it 5 stars if people working at the reception desk had been more welcoming. When I arrived to checkin the person assisting us was not so welcoming and the same happened when we checked out. Every time I had a question and approached the front desk it seemed like they did not want to be bothered.. but aside from that, the hotel experience with the room and accommodation itself was good.
Got bitten by bed bugs whilst staying at this hotel in May 2018. The duty manager did put me in another room with a complementary late checkout so that I could catch up on missed sleep and apologised for the situation. However a hotel investigation which he promised is currently underway and I will wait for the results. Unfortunately it was not a pleasant stay as I'm on currently on antibiotics as a result of the bed bug bites getting inflamed and infected.
No AC.. window opens 3inches, loads of drunk uni kids wandering around and load
Good hotel but some delays checking in under a block booking
Friendly service, clean rooms, good food, gym, swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi. Cons - fewer parking spaces and maybe time to think about new TV in the rooms.
Very friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and spacious. Shower and toiletries were really nice too.
Dated room, stale smell, rough sheets, no air con, awful breakfast with undrinkable coffee. This place looks as though it was last renovated in 1972.
fantastic hotel anyone reading the reviews dont believe everything you read great hotel clean secure and its not in a run down area staff were great did not try the breakfast as cafes everywere would recommend this hotel 100%
Lovely hotel used all the facilities and were very happy and comfortable also had an evening meeal which was excelent
Hated the place.
I would not recommend this hotel what so ever unless you were buying a deluxe or upgraded room. When I asked if it had aircon which most rooms have these days the person smiled and said of course not sir you are in a standard room. He should have said a budget room which was across the alleyway in the very obvious budget building and not the main building. The reason for 2 stars is because I am generous and the food was quite good in all fairness but the decor around breakfast dining needs addressing. Old worn carpets and what looked like old net curtains which obscured the morning sunshine which was a shame.
Not a happy bunny.
Staff were very helpful. Rooms were clean and the bar was stocked relatively well.
The food could have been better but was in no way bad!
Small room located in a separate building from reception/restaurant. Quite basic with small double bed, TV and bath with shower attachment. Buffet breakfast was okay, if a little stale.
Lovely hotel. Really nice room, free lemon iced water as reception. Nice touch!
We rang for more coffee, sugar etc twice and both times came within 10mins.
We had room service and was delicious! Served hot and looked as good as it tasted!
The pool and sauna, steam room etc is definitely worth a visit!
Went to a training course there. Nice clean public areas, pleasant staff. Meals and refreshments very good quality. Recommended. Slightly longer walk from Old Street station than I was told, closer to 20 mins at a decent pace rather than 10.
Below par hotel which is not in a good location as we thought it would be unfortunately.
Had a couple of drinks here because my brother was staying here one night. It's an OK bar but you wouldn't go out of your way to come here.
Very poor this time unfortunately. Poor check-in, I am a regular customer but each time I need to re-present myself & the system doesn't seem to manage this process well. Booked a double room but was told they had none left and I had to accept a twin. Needs to improve for the price, which has increased slightly from the last time I stayed.
Booked to stay here during January 2014 as I had stayed in the hotel previously and found it to be ok.
This time however, I was given a room in building 2 across from the main reception. I knew it wasn't going to be brilliant as I had read previous reviews concerning building 2 but I thought I'd give it a go.
I arrived (eventually) at my room on the second floor. I say eventually as the corridors resemble what I imagine a rabbit warren to look like. The room (a standard single) was actually not to bad, small but functional. So I had something to eat (a takeaway) in my room, connected to the free wifi (a bonus) and did some work.
Eventually I headed across the room to bed (all of 2 steps). Just as I was begining to fall asleep (around 11pm) a noise that sounded like a swarm of angry bees playing bagpipes came from the bathroom. I tried ignoring it (stupid I know), I tried making sure the bathroom door was shut but still the noise grated upon my ears. Ringing the duty manager they said someone would come and investigate. Of course by this time the noise had stoppped and had been replaced by strange gurgling sounds from the bath drain. (I can only assume that soemone in the next room wanted a bath at 11pm, I have no idea why and that the noise was the water pipes followed by the water draining)
Both of these noises had finished by the time the duty manager managed to make it to me and there was no noise to be heard.
I will compliment them on their service at this stage as they immeadietly offered me another room on a different floor and I moved to that. It turned out to be a better standard of room without any noise.
All in all this hotel is not to bad providing you get a room in building one and it's touch and go if you get a room in building 2. Guess you could say, luck of the draw.
OK for weekend break staff helpful and not to far from centre
Rooms a little old but sufficient to sleep there.
The hotel is very large, a nice pool to relax a bit after a good day of sightseeing.
The buffet breakfast is very varied and good.
Sweet and helpful staff. Building and decoration corny and had its best time.
Good hotel of passage. The rooms are old with carpet and outdated furniture.
However the location of the hotel is great and close to public transport and public.
There is an announcement that the host changes his name and become a Hard Rock in the spring of 2019.
The restaurant for breakfast included is excellent.
Nice swimming pool open from 8:00 to 20:00.
The traffic is still easy to use, the price is reasonable, the security is proper, but the swimming pool is too thin, but it also has its benefits. For example, it can be checked in front of the general hotel.
Had a great check in experience with lady at reception being Amazing. Made me feel welcome
We stayed at the hotel for two nights, our first impression of our rooms was small and dated. This first disappointment was more than compensated for by the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff we encountered. The restaurant was very good if a little busy at times and it was also a bonus having a swimming pool in the leisure centre. we would certainly stay at this hotel again and considered it value for the monies we paid
J Green.
Very enjoyable stay - staff welcoming and always helpful. Breakfast superb.
Room in need of updating but comfortable
No hesitation in booking a further visit.
Cheapest central hotel with a pool, very easy to get to and very comfortable!
Its ok. Room i got was small and dated. Had drinks at bar by lifts, bit slow on getting our drinks as we was the only ones in there. Good location. Staff all seemed nice.
Good location, friendly staff, reasonable price for London, clean and tidy. Would recommend to friends
First room was dated, scruffy and allowed me to hear every word spoken in the room next door. Second room was dated and scruffy with loud noises from anyone walking around.
I attempted to eat an evening meal in the hotel but gave up after waiting more than 30 minutes for a salad.
Very unimpressed.
Room was good size and nice tea coffee with milk n sugar and 2 complimentary biscuits
Best place to go for a good night sleep recommend to anyone
Ok for price
Not a quiet place though a lot of noise at night
This is my first time in London and I really like the city. The whole thing is only clouded by the hotel I'm in. The room is in a condition that you would rate in Germany as third class. The bathroom is clean, but on the part of functionality vorkriegstauglich, and I mean WK1. The location to the subway with a 10 minute walk is just acceptable. The breakfast is the only pubkt that you can rate as above average (that's why there is even a point). The staff is quickly overwhelmed and helpless. Finally, the highlight is that in England from the outset in 12.5% (twelve-point five) drinking cash are booked with the bill when eating. This should be noted on his next stay in England.
Wifi couldnt work, not comfortable, very small room,
Lots to like at this price, but the annoyance of a 10 minute walk to any tube station is annoying. Other than that, great value for London.
Mooi hotel, big rooms, bigger then the most in London. Nice personnel, very helpfull and polite
I was so pleasantly surprised by what I got for the price I paid. The room was spacious and cleaned every single day. There was loads of choice for breakfast. The pool and sauna were so nice to pop down to at the end of a busy day. There s a really nice restaurant 3 minutes away called Harlem Soul. It took us about 20 minutes by tube/bus to get into the centre of London. Definitely going to stay there again!
So far so good, out visit isn't over yet. Fresh and clean, though has a feeling of age a bit, older furniture, guessing an old building as floor's not even... In the middle of Barbican, next to Shoreditch, perfect for a weekend out!
Very nice hotel. Good food. Expensive bar but that's what u get in london
Excellent hotel, appearance from the outside doesn't do it justice , large room, very comfortable with nice views if you're on the south facing side. Sadly didn't get chance to try the pool or gym.
Easily located. Very comfy and very good services. Polite people. Located near Angel station which is convenient for me and others for travel as well.
Rooms : they were nice but small although they have everything for you to enjoy your stay
The hotel is nice looking, the staff is awesome (especially Dilal from FRB section, this guy is pure kindness and he's helpful). It has a good restaurant and their breakfast won't make you eat until 5 pm.
I definitely recommend it
Great hotel for the money. Very clean rooms and very easy to get to. The staff was very friendly and helpful!
Excellent hotel, helpful and courteous staff. Cleaning every day. The only flaw is the "spa", poorly controlled and unclean.
Nice hotel. Reasonable location. Reasonable room. Nice bathroom. 10 mins to tube station. Great breakfast, great coffee included. The bar was not relaxing at all and 2 loud for my taste.
Very good value for money
the breakfast is very good and very rich.
The pool is great when we went at night there were only 4 people in the water.
especially a big big big thank you to Ben who was a great help to find us a hotel for Saturday night (I got like a handle when I booked and there was not a single room left on Saturday evening) the room was spacious and we had a bathtub which was great for relaxing.
in short, I will come back there.
Lovely comfy bed , great customer service. Breakfast buffet good quality and price
