Great place for kids of all ages. Perfect for those hot summer days. Kids can have fun while learnings and getting some of their energy out. Specific areas are sectioned off for different age groups. Makes it nice when you have a toddler and don't have to worry about older kids accidentally knocking them down. Another plus you can bring outside food. They have two vending machines with healthy snacks however most people bring their own food, Also they validate parking in the parking garage.

Pretty good. Not great if you have a good science/learning center or children's hands-on museum in your home town. Took a 6 year old and she liked it, but had just as much fun in the free park across the street. Everything in thinkery is neat but doesn't hold interest very long.

Always a delight to visit the thinkery.

Always a delight to visit the thinkery.
If you're a local a membership is a great idea.
The earth, wind exhibit is cool but if I had to choose, the one with the golf balls was way more fun.

I took my 22 month old grandson on a cold Thursday. There was PLENTY to do for this age group. He played for a couple of hours. We left to go eat. We returned and he played for another hour or so. Your entry fee allows you to come and go throughout the day! If you park in the garage they will validate your ticket. However, meter parking on the street is inexpensive.

My 18 month son LOVES coming to the Thinkery. Every visit he finds something new that he loves, and it is so fun to watch his face as he discovers and learns through play. We especially love the splash room. If you have a WIC card or a few other government services cards, you can actually get your whole family in for free, so be sure to look up their museums for all program if that applies to you!

Absolutely love this place! We have been for fun and for birthday parties. For the parties, you get your own private room, and depending on the age of the kiddos, they have different projects and art. You child is not too young to bring here either. They have great options for the littles.

Great place, my daughter loves it.

Great place, my daughter loves it.

There is pretty much something for any kid, an outdoor playground, a water play area, a story time nook, a lab for food and other messy stuff, a farm to table play area, a couple of other play areas.

Kids love this place- if you have some, make sure to get on this. The exhibits are interesting for kids and adults, and you can both have fun for hours. If you go on a Saturday, you can check out the nearby Farmer's Market as well.

It's great for small kids, my 3 year old and 5 year old loved it! My 9 year not so much. The price is steep too, especially since they charge the adults as well. The prices don't vary by age either.

Our kids favorite spot. The annual membership is a great deal and it works for other science museums around the country. They have a water room, an awesome playground, music making and exhibits that change with the seasons. It's a great place for families with kids under 7-8.

Takes me back to childhood. A galaxy of physics, chemistry, geometry, basic mathematics lessons collide in this inspiring children-focused museum. Play upstairs in the splash zone by turning gears to mechanically shoot water through hoses. Play the water-based version of a xylophone using jets and timpani drum sticks. Or hang out downstairs and play with microscopes hooked up to flat screens to examine the particles that hold together sponges, a beehive, or a string! Its a child's dream, and a parent's trip down memory lane. AWESOME place for a first date!

Getting a family membership was the best thing ever. Up to four people can go in unlimited amount of times for a full year. Always fun activities that never seem to get old to my four year old. A great place to hang out inside with AC, get out energy, learn things, and have my son interact with other kids of all ages. Plan on at least 90min or more to enjoy the spaces fully. Take a break outside at the awesome park or eat at a nearby spot. Then go back in for another round of fun!

Lots of fun ways to explore our world for little kids. Water exhibit looks like a lot of wet fun for kids that can walk, closed off section for kids who cannot is a really cool retreat from the running and hyperactivity. We stayed for story time which was nice and learned about the Earth's weather patterns and geological processes, magnets, puzzles, pulleys, etc. Overall this is a fantastic children's museum in a very nice neighborhood and is definitely worth a visit.

This place is good for a day out with the kids and employees are great, however management is rude and not friendly. My nephew who has autism, said hi to one of the managers, and she literally just rolled her eyes and walked away, leaving my nephew standing there, and greated others with a smile. So something is really wrong here. To me, management should be friendly and always welcoming. Who ever this yound lady is, she needs to be told she needs some training. A change of attitude would be ideal for management. the rest of the staff was great at creating a great environment for my nephew. Other than that, this is a good place.

One of the best Children's museums in Texas. An amazing collection of indoor and outdoor spaces, with things to do for older and younger children. They excel in their special programs, which include parent's nights out and adults only evenings. It's also in a great new neighborhood with plenty of fun things.

What I'd give to have this when I was young...It's a magical experience. I've been here a few time with my younger brother. And let me tell you, I can never resist from joining in on the fun. All of the children are lighting up around every corner. I highly recommend to any parent.

Tucked at the foot of Mount Bonnell in Austin is Mayfield Park and Preserve. Parking is free but dogs are not allowed. Peacocks roam this property freely and perch on the rooftops and fences and are fun to photograph. There are beautiful gardens to explore and ponds with ornamental carp and lily pads. This outing can easily be combined with a visit to neighboring Covert Park at the top of Mount Bonnell Rd.

This is an amazing place to bring your toddlers who are interested in learning how things work. After our first visit we bought a family pass for the year - super affordable and a fun way for the kiddos and the parents to spend an educating afternoon that feels like just playing around.! ~ Corey

My kids love this place. Tons for the kids to do. Good for all ages (even adults)! Lots of science experiments and hands on exhibits. Not sure what pricing is now, but we would still take the little ones if it was super expensive. Sometimes there are food trucks down there as well, so food is covered. Get there early to take it all in.

The Thinkery offers many opportunities for educational play for little ones. It is a place babies can enjoy and children up to 8-12 years old (Depending on interest.) There are two levels and an outdoor section as well. I once lost a child and they were immediately on top of things and we found her in seconds. There are plenty of staff to help out. There is a a section to eat at but it is only a vending machine with very high prices. It's okay to bring your own food which this reviewer highly suggests. There is also an HEB not far from the location so you could go grab lunch there and come back if you'd prefer.

Love this place. I've only been to adult nights because I have no kids. I've also been to adult nights at other places like this across the country and this has been the best experience so far. I've been to 5 here and the fact that they change up the programing for every adult night with great themes is part of what has made them my favorite.

This place is great. Children's museum with a focus on science and technology. If your kids like playing in water bring a change of clothes.
The staff is super friendly and my kids had a ton of fun. We will definitely be back.

There's no place to be more happy that the places your kids are. Few advice, never go in a free entrance day it will be full and your kids maybe won't have space to do something. Always go in the morning. Get your kids extra clothes because there's an area with water. And remember you as a parent want to see your kids enjoying the place so show them to respect others kids, spaces and toys. Show your kids to share. That way everyone is going to have a good experience.

Good place to take your kids, IF they know manners. Seems a lot of kids like to push or disregard the little ones in the smaller kid area, but then again, seems like the parents don t care for what the signs say regarding bigger aged children in the same play area as smaller kids. My kid has fun so it is what it is.

Great place for kids to explore and experiment with simple mechanics, light, water and just play. Parents be aware: this place is big and if you're with a group of kids, it's easy to get separated.

Amazing place for kids and for for adults alike. When I visit places like this, I always wish I was a lot younger. All the different exhibits pull you towards them, to play, experiment and figure things out. I visited with my niece and nephews and we all had a blast, no one wanted to leave. We practically had to be swept out. The gift shop has some great educational toys that I wish I had bought.
Bring a snack because going out to eat will waste too much precious time that could be better used playing and learning.

We went during the free Museum Day and the kids had a blast. It is your typical Children's Museum, but it packs a lot into the space. There are indoor and outdoor water areas and a large outdoor play structure. For adults, it is easy to keep clear sightlines on your kid.

About Thinkery

Thinkery: Austin's Home for Science and Family Fun

Thinkery is a unique museum located in Austin, Texas that offers an interactive and educational experience for children and families. Formerly known as the Austin Children's Museum, Thinkery has evolved into a place where science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) come together to inspire curiosity and creativity.

At Thinkery, visitors can explore over 40 hands-on exhibits that encourage learning through play. From the "Spark Shop" where kids can tinker with tools to create their own inventions to the "Kitchen Lab" where they can experiment with food science, there is something for everyone at this innovative museum.

One of the most popular exhibits at Thinkery is the "Currents" exhibit which allows visitors to create their own circuits using wires and batteries. This exhibit teaches children about electricity in a fun and engaging way. Another favorite exhibit is "Innovators' Workshop" which encourages creativity by providing materials such as cardboard boxes, tape, scissors etc., allowing kids to build whatever they imagine.

In addition to its permanent exhibits, Thinkery also hosts special events throughout the year such as summer camps for kids of all ages. These camps offer hands-on activities that focus on STEAM subjects like robotics or coding.

Thinkery also offers programs specifically designed for toddlers called “Little Thinkers”. These programs are designed to introduce young children (ages 0-3) to STEAM concepts through play-based activities like sensory exploration or music-making.

The museum’s mission is not only about providing fun experiences but also about promoting education in STEAM fields. The staff at Thinkery believes that by exposing children early on in life to these subjects it will help them develop critical thinking skills necessary for success later on in life.

Thinkery has received numerous awards including being named one of Forbes’ Top 12 Children’s Museums in America. It has also been recognized by local publications such as Austin Monthly who named it “Best Place To Take Kids” multiple times.

Overall, if you're looking for a fun-filled day out with your family while learning something new along the way then look no further than Thinkery! With its interactive exhibits and engaging programs catering from toddlers up until teenagers - there's truly something here for everyone!
