Tucked at the foot of Mount Bonnell in Austin is Mayfield Park and Preserve. Parking is free but dogs are not allowed. Peacocks roam this property freely and perch on the rooftops and fences and are fun to photograph. There are beautiful gardens to explore and ponds with ornamental carp and lily pads. This outing can easily be combined with a visit to neighboring Covert Park at the top of Mount Bonnell Rd.
