Slightly better than other children's exploratorium/museums we've been to. Loved the outdoor play space and the upstairs water tables. Parking in the big garage behind the Thinkery is validated for up to 3 hours. Definitely coming again.
Used to be great to go on Wednesdays. Now it's to crowded and the other parents that go there are rude and don't watch their children.
Great for smallish kids, we took a range of grandkids from 1.5 to 8 year olds and they all had a blast! It's a bit small compared with similar places in other cities and somewhat expensive, which is why I didn't give it 5 stars, but it definitely provides tremendous entertainment for the kids. Excellent water exhibits which I haven't seen in other places.
Went with my girlfriend and her 5 year old son and he had a blast. Plenty of cool learning driven rooms to occupy the kiddos for a long time, plus you'll be right near lots of good restaurants.
Well designed and spacious. Fun, educational workshops. Not much changes there, so if your kids get bored with the same thing, the Thinkery does not offer much variety. And DON'T leave anything behind. We left our jacket at a workshop. Realized it as soon as we got home and called immediately. No one answered so we had to leave a message. Kaylee @The Thinkery returned our call the next day and confirmed the jacket was there. Because of the Christmas holiday, it took us a few weeks to return for the jacket by which time the Thinkery had given it away!
Fun place for kiddos in the under 10-ish range. I liked the outdoor play structure, story time for a rest break.
Recommend getting there right when they open. You're guaranteed a parking spot and it won't be as busy because after lunch it can become somewhat chaos in there. But please do not let that deter you from going there. It is an awesome place especially to sit back and watch the imagination of your little one just run wild. So many cool things to talk about not enough time to do so go experience it for yourself you won't be disappointed!
Not exactly the Exploritorium, but the best "science" play space for younger kids in Austin. Gets very busy here on the weekends and the parking can be rough.
Y'all. This place is ridiculous. I grew up with the Austin Children's Museum and thought nothing could ever top it. I humbly admit I was wrong. If you have a child, bring them. If you know a child, bring them and give their parents the day off. Parking in the garage is more difficult now that the Drafthouse is open, but not impossible.
My son loves it it's a safe and fun family area next to a great park and lake we love it
Wonderful place to take your young children to explore.
Fun for the whole family. My boys loved the water play.
My 2 year old LOVED it! I had such a hard time getting her to leave that we were there for over 3 hours! It is a great place for children to learn, grow and explore. I even had fun as an adult.
It was awesome it was crowded but overall it was amazing!
ADA friendly, lots to see and do. Attended an intergenerational program...everyone had a blast.
My grandkids absolutely love this amazing place! Seeing the excitement in their little faces as they run from room to room is priceless. Our family treasures this place and we are grateful to the bright minds that created it and made it happen.
Perfect for all ages. The different themed areas are so fun and my kiddo loved going. We went at 18 months and almost 3, and he had a blast both times. Worth it.
Go to this magical place for cheldrem and adults. Take a lunch and enjoy a meal in a small area with tables, and treats in a machine to tempt you! Great merchandise with a great variety! Parking in the garage is the place to go and they validate your parking ticket! So much fun playing and learning without even trying. Helpful staff with lots of ways to help you have a great experience including telling stories!
So I don't have kids. However, I remember going to a place like this when I was little and I loved it.
Definitely a place you can spend hours.

In and out in less than 30. They should have a sign at the front desk letting patrons know what age range the center is for. My son is 11 yrs old and was too old for the type of activities the center offers. Its more for young childern between 10mos to maybe 7 years old. But thats it. And its small.
Great place for kids. My 1 year old had a ton of fun here.
Reminds me of the days my grandma would take me to the local children's museum. I love to visit here when my nephew is in town. It is kept clean and well organized. It can get busy, but they have areas for certain ages and exhibits for all abilities. There is a nice play area outside where adults can watch from plenty of seating areas. Park in the garage to the north and they will validate the parking fee. (even though it's not that much) You can easily spend a long afternoon to a full day here.
My son loves this place. Hes two and gets excited when we drive up. Good educational family fun... And cheap! Love it!
Tactile fun for all. Take your kids. Take your parents or take a first date. Its a great place with open space, fun colors, groovy shapes and inspirational activities!
Why you charge for adults?!!
Am I going to let my 3yrs old get inside by himself to play?
Or you guys think me and my wife going to leave the kids alone and start playing like crazy adults ?!
That's insane
We love taking our girls here (ages 4 and 18 months). Lots of great learning opportunities and fun activities, plus a neat outdoors playground. We also did a themed birthday party that was a big hit, although a little on the pricey side.
Not as much to do as I hoped but very clean and fun.
Great for kids of all ages... the physics room with golf balls and launch lanes kept kids engaged for 30 min!
Nice place to spend time with the kids in the AC. A little expensive
Nice place to go with the children
Only that they should close a little later
My daughter love's this place... Great for bad weather days when you need to get out of the house
My granddaughter had so much fun. We would take her back again
Great fun for toddlers and older children. Pricey but worth it. Go later in the day, it's much less crowded.
admit it, you want to live here. it's a maze of interlocking forts and game stations. yeah, maybe your niece might learn something about locomotives or dinosaurs during your trip but you're really there to give your inner-kid a boost.
Great place to take toddlers and kids. Innovative and fun. Cost is a bit high for everyday, but every once in awhile it's definitely worth it.
Very crowded. Not as big as I expected for a city with the population of Austin. However it is well-maintained with friendly, helpful staff.
Kitchen lab, where my grandkids most wanted to go, was closed. Sparks area also shut down early. No music section exists...unless you count arranging drum heads under drops of water. Stop action movie making interesting but relied on a few tablets so few could get involved. Outdoor playground very well done. But if you can afford gas to Waco, go to Mayborn Museum on Baylor's campus. Lower admission fee, free parking, outdoor historic village to explore plus same exhibits Thinkery had, PLUS keyboards and other musicmaking stuff, video where you can be part of the action while you dodge dinosaurs, and a spectacular temporary exhibit (til September 8) where you can pilot a space shuttle to Mars or drive a land rover. Also natural history exhibits. Also costumes for dressup.
Fun, interactive place/space. Better for kids older than toddler age but took an 11-month old here who still had a lot of fun.
I attended a private holiday party at the Thinkery. The space was very clean and had a lot of activities that both children and adults could enjoy. They have a nice outdoor space and the staff was very friendly.
Great place that has many hands on for little ones. There's so many stores around it. There's a movie theater, bakery, apartments and Dell Children's to name a few. Parking was close by and so is a little playground by the lake/river. The kids had fun. They offer military discount also and have Summer camps.
Awesome place to take kids. A great learning place for kids to do hands on science
Took my Granddaughter to the noonish NYE balloon bubble wrap event. She had a blast!
Great games for kids and a great location. Allow people to enter for a lower price when they can't pay
Had a wonderful experience booking a party room for my son's birthday party! The party was a success and the staff was friendly, helpful and on top of things! We added the Marble Run and all of our guests participated and enjoyed the challenge.
My kid loves to visit. It is expensive without a membership.
Wonderful!! My kids enjoys every single minute there.
Can get really busy but there is still enough room for my kid to have fun. Just signed up for a second year.
Perfect for kids to learn with all their senses. A must go if you have kids!
Great place to take little kids. Parking isn't convenient
Great place for kids of varying ages. We especially love the light room.
great facility nice interactive activitiles for children expens;ive
Best investment for a fun filled day for kids under 10. Parking is validated so don't pay. Just park in the garage and give the staff your parking pass to validate. Kids learn about art, thermodynamics, weather, kinetics and cooking. Bring your lunch. There is a place designated to eat. Eating is not permitted near the activity areas.
Great place for children of all ages. I love learning with my boys. Kind of crowded at times.
Great place with lots of fun and educational things to do for kids.
Amazing just take the kids here. Just do it. Everyone will have fun.
Not so impressed. For a city as big and rich as Austin, one would expect a slightly larger, fancier, and more educational hands-on museum. It can get crowded too. It is good that we went there using a reciprocal membership.
Just a great experience for a toddler. So many activities that can keep a toddler entertained. I wish they had fresh made good options.
Great place for kids of all ages. The light room and water wall are my favorites. A close second is the circuit boards. If you have a curious kid you need to go and check it out
My kids favorite place ..intelligent kids activities
My three year old son had a blast here. The water play area was an especially big hit.
Great for kids and so much to do. The free park right outside for the kids is an added plus!
Great place to bring little ones all they can explore and play
Thinkery is very good place to take children. But Not happy w $20 parking ticket for on the street parking.
Brought an eleven month old here and it was great! A little busy on the weekend but you'll understand why... Also, probably worth just getting the annual pass.
This I'd a kids heaven! So many activities in one place. Kids could spend all day here going from painting on the glass wall to building a robot or playing in the huge light up room. It is a great place!
My kids enjoyed the thinkery so much we will be coming back
Have seen nothing like this, amazing! Keeps kids busy the whole day! Be it birthday parties , the water area , story time , light room just amazes you every time you visit! There s also a separate section for toddlers and hands on things for older kids to do..
kids are 3, 5 and 7 and they had a blast. there is about two hours of activities in the building and outside. dress for being outside and getting wet.
