Beautiful old theatre with great bars and really good shows
Great show no a lot of leg room for tall people well done
Saw Les Miserables on Thursday - phenomenal, faultless, brilliant. Thank you to all involved.
A good old style theatre, lovingly decorated and important for me, enough legroom in the gods!
Years since I was here but blown away by it. Beautiful theatre, smaller than I remember but so elegant. I'm making it my aim to visit often, perhaps learn about opera as they show a lot of that. We saw an inspector calls, which was so imaginative, loved it. We went to matinee and not sure if I minded people not being ' dressed' and turning up with shopping bags. Guess I shouldn't as theatre is for all and everyone loved it judging by the thunderous applause.
Has excellent shows however there is limited leg room for seats. Seats are rather uncomfortable
A wonderfully restored building. Affording unhindered views of the stage. The theatre has a wide variety of stage productions and therefore appeals to a large audience. As with all theatres you will need a large mortgage to purchase any products or drinks. I would say overall I have always had pleasant experiences at this venue.
Fantastic show Motown the musical wonderful night at the theatre
The comedy about a bank robbery was incredibly funny and the programmes and ice cream and stuff is all very cheap.
I recently went to a gig at Newcastle City Hall that was poorly Stewarded. Given that the Theatre Royal and City Hall are now linked I sent my feedback and concerns via e-mail immediately following the gig. Over a week later nobody from the customer care team has bothered to contact me with regard to my complaint. This tells you how little emphasis the company put on customer satisfaction. Do yourself a favour and if possible go to see your show of choice somewhere else or like me you may end up with your experience ruined and not receive even an apology.
Great night at the Theatre Royal watching Les Miserables ...fantastic show and theatre
Visited here last year to watch Benidorm live, was a great show. Only gripe I found was, that the theatre struggles to accommodate large crowds, and the toilets and bar get very busy
Go year after year for panto . Always good fun .lovely theatre .
I really enjoyed the theatre royal and the staff were very helpful great service
I adore the Theatre Royal and try to go at least once every two months. They have a wide variety of productions including musicals, plays, ballet and opera. The staff are always lovely and the performances always sound fantastic.
Love the place
Just changing tickets today but many children in visiting so good atmosphere
Beautiful building and would've been a 5 but the seats are so uncomfortable.
Amazing show The Full Monty is so funny and one of the best shows I've seen.

Dusty ..fantastic show to see ..great songs ..but sad at the end .
The production of Top Hat was fabulous, witty and entertaining with excellent music.
A very special night out is a visit to the Theatre Royal, Newcastle upon Tyne; a touch of grandeur with a sumptuous decor. We went to see Franz Lehar's "The Merry Widow" given by Opera North and were transported back to a very different time and place with plenty of gusto, enthusiasm and panache. We had seats in the Grand Circle row B and enjoyed a very good view of the action. A splendid production and a wonderful evening.
Wednesday 30th January 2019: Cinderella given by Scottish Ballet, Choreographer: Christopher Hampson, Music by Sergei Prokofiev. A production full of life, imagination, colour, verve and humour. The corps de ballet, very well drilled and skilled, principal dancers most entrancing, the antics of the step sisters at the Royal Ball, most entertaining. I really appreciated the brilliant scenery, particularly the great crystalline moon that shone over the ball sequence and gradually faded as the ticking clock announced the approach of midnight.
Another special night at the Theatre Royal, viewed from the Grand Circle row D.
I have attached photos of the exterior of the Theatre Royal and some of its neighbouring buildings.
Wonderful place .We went to the panto and it was fab we all enjoyed it so much beautiful building with a great atmosphere can't wait to book for next year's panto .
The theatre it's self is great. Meet some lovely staff Sasha was very helpful. But on leaving the building I had to go down Shakespeare street and I was very dissapointed in the amount of rubbish that has accumulated in the street from the theatre. This has spoil day
Fantastic evening. We will rock.you was a brilliant production.
Pantomiime very good
Seating awful so uncomfortable appreciate that need numbers but that is too tight
Lovely theatre, sat up in thd Gods with 'limited view' but didn't impact on the performance.
Great theatre, easy access and no delay getting served at the bar for a change!!!
Wow! What a theatre, full of character. We watched the incredible Les Miserable here and enjoyed ever moment. The ambience of the theatre added to the show.
Love this place really nice to go back with my kids and see their faces light up

This year's panto was brilliant... Had me crying with laughter
Fabulous theatre in the heart of Newcastle, excellent place to relax and enjoy a performance
A real pleasure to visit good helpful staff and great location in the centre of Newcastle
Fantastic. The staff is very helpful and guided me to where i needed to be because im diabled . Les Mis was fantastic the only thing that marred it was i left my program and tickets in the assiable toilets. I collect all programs.
Just watched Dusty outstanding performance thank you for all your hard work
Theatre Royal Newcastle is a lovely building. An Officer and a Gentleman was a fabulous production with an amazing cast. Wonderful voices and energy from start to finish.
Lovely Theatre, great atmosphere. Good seating and decent leg-room if you choose carefully when booking off plan.
Went to see Rocky Horror Picture Show what a fantastic night. To save queuing we pre ordered our intermission drinks I would definitely recommend that.
Lovely building in the centre of Newcastle. Easy to get to as long as you don't expect to park right outside. Several multi storey car parks are nearby as are a number of bus stops and a Metro station. Only complaint was the temperature, we were in the upper circle and it was roasting. There was some air-conditioning but it was ineffective. Apart from that an enjoyable night.
Went to see Peppa Pig live with my 2 year old. Lovely venue, easy booking online. Easy access in city centre.
Excellent victorian theatre in the centre of Newcastle. Well worth a visit. We go there every Christmas to see the panto. Best in the area by far.
Theatre is beautiful only problem seats are so uncomfortable
Pantomime was excellent only issue is they don't take credit or debit cards
Always great, fantastic theatre with style and brilliant performances
Good show of course but seats in the upper circle very uncomfortable
Always have a great time here, what an amazing show we saw and its always clean and orderly
