Years since I was here but blown away by it. Beautiful theatre, smaller than I remember but so elegant. I'm making it my aim to visit often, perhaps learn about opera as they show a lot of that. We saw an inspector calls, which was so imaginative, loved it. We went to matinee and not sure if I minded people not being ' dressed' and turning up with shopping bags. Guess I shouldn't as theatre is for all and everyone loved it judging by the thunderous applause.

A wonderfully restored building. Affording unhindered views of the stage. The theatre has a wide variety of stage productions and therefore appeals to a large audience. As with all theatres you will need a large mortgage to purchase any products or drinks. I would say overall I have always had pleasant experiences at this venue.

I recently went to a gig at Newcastle City Hall that was poorly Stewarded. Given that the Theatre Royal and City Hall are now linked I sent my feedback and concerns via e-mail immediately following the gig. Over a week later nobody from the customer care team has bothered to contact me with regard to my complaint. This tells you how little emphasis the company put on customer satisfaction. Do yourself a favour and if possible go to see your show of choice somewhere else or like me you may end up with your experience ruined and not receive even an apology.

I adore the Theatre Royal and try to go at least once every two months. They have a wide variety of productions including musicals, plays, ballet and opera. The staff are always lovely and the performances always sound fantastic.

A very special night out is a visit to the Theatre Royal, Newcastle upon Tyne; a touch of grandeur with a sumptuous decor. We went to see Franz Lehar's "The Merry Widow" given by Opera North and were transported back to a very different time and place with plenty of gusto, enthusiasm and panache. We had seats in the Grand Circle row B and enjoyed a very good view of the action. A splendid production and a wonderful evening.
Wednesday 30th January 2019: Cinderella given by Scottish Ballet, Choreographer: Christopher Hampson, Music by Sergei Prokofiev. A production full of life, imagination, colour, verve and humour. The corps de ballet, very well drilled and skilled, principal dancers most entrancing, the antics of the step sisters at the Royal Ball, most entertaining. I really appreciated the brilliant scenery, particularly the great crystalline moon that shone over the ball sequence and gradually faded as the ticking clock announced the approach of midnight.
Another special night at the Theatre Royal, viewed from the Grand Circle row D.
I have attached photos of the exterior of the Theatre Royal and some of its neighbouring buildings.

Lovely building in the centre of Newcastle. Easy to get to as long as you don't expect to park right outside. Several multi storey car parks are nearby as are a number of bus stops and a Metro station. Only complaint was the temperature, we were in the upper circle and it was roasting. There was some air-conditioning but it was ineffective. Apart from that an enjoyable night.
