put on some great stuff. I miss the RSC and hope they come back soon. the chairs are very uncomfortable, I think because they had a Victorian refurbishment and that's what Victorians liked - shame though. Book well in advance as its shoes van be very popular.

Love going here. Although it can totally depend on the audience surrounding you. We saw The Bodyguard in the summer & a group next to us were fairly drunk, also had drinks with them, the staff had to ask them several times to be quiet & at one point security came & stood at the end of the aisle until the end of the performance.
Why anyone would want to spoil other peoples enjoyment due to alcohol is beyond me, it s not as if it s a cheap night out for most theatre goers.
Staff dealt with it quickly.
Off to see We will Rock You soon

Great seat layout for viewing stage. Comfortable with easy access and exit. Friendly helpful staff. Bar would benefit from more credit card terminals to speed up service. Decor of interior matches era of the building to a very good standard.

Took a party of school children from a special needs school to a performance of Peter Pan. The staff were extremely helpful, and made the visit a real pleasure. Will definitely visit again. Congratulations to the Theatre Royal, a job done extremely well! You should be proud!

The front row of the gallery is a partial view seat. However, unless you are well over 6 feet tall or bend almost double to lean over the balcony you cannot see any of the performance. The booking office should explain this....

I don't go to the theatre very often, but found Theatre Royal to be excellent. The building has a beautiful exterior and the performance we watched, Pride & Prejudice, was great. We had comfy seats and good views, with somewhat limited leg room, but it wasn't an issue. Staff were very polite and we really enjoyed our evening.

Great place to go see a show in Newcastle upon Tyne.

If you are going with friends or family, make sure you book up early for some of the more popular events as they can sell out quite quickly.

Matthew Bourne has done amazing shows there over the last few years.

You book tickets online, over the phone or at the box office.

Newcastle Theatre Royal

I love this venue. Have been on my own, with friends and with young family, and have always found the experience 1st class.
The auditorium itself is large, with comfortable seating with terrific views from most areas. You can check ahead or online for restricted viewing areas. Booster seats are always on hand for the little ones, so they can enjoy equally good viewing.
The staff are all 1st rate. Very knowledgeable, friendly and willing to help.
The theatre has wheelchair/disabled access and restrooms, with staff always on hand to assist.
Snacks and drinks, including alcohol are available around the theatre. Truly wonderful venue.

Haven't been for a long time, in fact, Charlton Heston starred alongside Roy Kinnear in A Man for All Seasons. That's how long ago it was.
Feb 2017 Update . Just went to the ballet. Excellent night, superb view from the grand circle, but I think the view would be great from anywhere in the theatre. It's not the biggest, but this adds to the charm of the place.

I ve been lucky enough to catch a number of performances here. Whether Christmas panto or We will rock you. The Theatre is a stunning building inside and out. Drinks prices are reasonable and it s always a good idea to preorder for the interval before act 1.

I m 6 2 and struggle with leg room in some of the seats. However a number of the stalls have more leg room than the others. I m not 100% as I m doing this review from memory rather than a visit today but row d and f I think have good leg room that taller people should be comfortable in.

The Theatre Royal such a happy place with enjoyable amazing shows which offer a great value due to the size of the venue there is always a good selection of seats and the multiple bars during the break lends themselves to a quick rest break, I'd recommend the grand circle for the better views point
