A really lovely old theatre with a fantastic atmosphere.
It's simply one of the greatest theatre's outside of London. Stunning.
Fantastic theatre! Went and watched cinderella one of the funniest pantos ive seen
Excellent experience lovely old theatre.. Thanks. 100% recommended
put on some great stuff. I miss the RSC and hope they come back soon. the chairs are very uncomfortable, I think because they had a Victorian refurbishment and that's what Victorians liked - shame though. Book well in advance as its shoes van be very popular.
Visted Theatre to watch The bodyguard on Wednesday night was absolutely amazing had a brilliant night , me and my auntie totally enjoyed ourselves
Love going here. Although it can totally depend on the audience surrounding you. We saw The Bodyguard in the summer & a group next to us were fairly drunk, also had drinks with them, the staff had to ask them several times to be quiet & at one point security came & stood at the end of the aisle until the end of the performance.
Why anyone would want to spoil other peoples enjoyment due to alcohol is beyond me, it s not as if it s a cheap night out for most theatre goers.
Staff dealt with it quickly.
Off to see We will Rock You soon
5*
Great seat layout for viewing stage. Comfortable with easy access and exit. Friendly helpful staff. Bar would benefit from more credit card terminals to speed up service. Decor of interior matches era of the building to a very good standard.
The pantomime was brilliant, booked other shoes this year and it's a venue that just delivers everytime!
Really top level shows here, never fails to impress.
Took a party of school children from a special needs school to a performance of Peter Pan. The staff were extremely helpful, and made the visit a real pleasure. Will definitely visit again. Congratulations to the Theatre Royal, a job done extremely well! You should be proud!
Staff were brilliant. Helped my wife with her wheelchair and always asked if we needed anything we wanted just ask.
Fantastic venue, beats most others theatres hands down
Very helpful staff. Great environment clean and well looked after, another 1 of Newcastle graet attraction. Thank you.
Wonderful theatre but the seats in the upper circle must be some of the most uncomfortable in any theatre. No chance of nodding off during a performance.
Had loads of fun. The performers were excellent and the service was great!
The front row of the gallery is a partial view seat. However, unless you are well over 6 feet tall or bend almost double to lean over the balcony you cannot see any of the performance. The booking office should explain this....
Fabulous old theatre. Was in grand circle so had a great view. Drinks a little expensive but good venue overall.
I don't go to the theatre very often, but found Theatre Royal to be excellent. The building has a beautiful exterior and the performance we watched, Pride & Prejudice, was great. We had comfy seats and good views, with somewhat limited leg room, but it wasn't an issue. Staff were very polite and we really enjoyed our evening.
Great place to go see a show in Newcastle upon Tyne.
If you are going with friends or family, make sure you book up early for some of the more popular events as they can sell out quite quickly.
Matthew Bourne has done amazing shows there over the last few years.
You book tickets online, over the phone or at the box office.
Remember to preorder your interval drinks, also drinks allowed in theater in plastic containers so no need to drink off before performance. Lovely staff, fabulous building loos spotless
The panto was fantastic as usual, love taking the kids but I think I like it just as much
Always an absolute pleasure visiting. Done birthday tradition to attend the Pantomime which is hilarious every single year!
Excellent location. Great shows at great prices. Highly recommend if you are in the area
Spectacular ballet performance, good seats and friendly staff,
Beautiful theatre, Brendan Cole, All Night Long, marvellous show.
Went to see.. holes ...with 62 children ...staff very helpful ...
This place is great. Can't wait to be back to see the bank robbery in 2 weeks.
Beauty and the beast was fantastic another fantastic performance
Nice and cosy and usually the main place to see a show in Newcastle
Newcastle Theatre Royal....what a class venue to meet your theatre needs.
Went to the Panto which was pretty much as you would expect it to be. Not much story lots of jokes, some singing and dancing, acrobatics and audience participation
The Theatre has a great vibe to this lovely piece of history and its a listed building. It has beautiful, luxurious fixtures and fitting which finish off the fine character of the place. Only the best performances come on tour here and you can be sure of a warm welcome from the staff.
Newcastle Theatre Royal
I love this venue. Have been on my own, with friends and with young family, and have always found the experience 1st class.
The auditorium itself is large, with comfortable seating with terrific views from most areas. You can check ahead or online for restricted viewing areas. Booster seats are always on hand for the little ones, so they can enjoy equally good viewing.
The staff are all 1st rate. Very knowledgeable, friendly and willing to help.
The theatre has wheelchair/disabled access and restrooms, with staff always on hand to assist.
Snacks and drinks, including alcohol are available around the theatre. Truly wonderful venue.
Stunning venue which always has really high quality performances on!
Superb show - Hair spray. Wonderfully joyous & exploring issues which are still relevant today. Beautiful old theatre recently renovated. Friendly staff.
I love the theatre royal would definitely recommend it.
Haven't been for a long time, in fact, Charlton Heston starred alongside Roy Kinnear in A Man for All Seasons. That's how long ago it was.
Feb 2017 Update . Just went to the ballet. Excellent night, superb view from the grand circle, but I think the view would be great from anywhere in the theatre. It's not the biggest, but this adds to the charm of the place.
I ve been lucky enough to catch a number of performances here. Whether Christmas panto or We will rock you. The Theatre is a stunning building inside and out. Drinks prices are reasonable and it s always a good idea to preorder for the interval before act 1.
I m 6 2 and struggle with leg room in some of the seats. However a number of the stalls have more leg room than the others. I m not 100% as I m doing this review from memory rather than a visit today but row d and f I think have good leg room that taller people should be comfortable in.
Beautiful theatre, I went to Motown the musical, great show
Amazing place. I was lucky enough to also watch very good performance. The staff is very polite and helpful.
One of my favorites theatre venues. Incredibly historic and manages to draw a diverse range of performances.
This has to be one of most impressive theatres in the world. A truly landmark building in the heart of Newcastle.
This is a must visit for anybody coming to the city.
Great experience, watched Les Miserable, outstanding
The Theatre Royal such a happy place with enjoyable amazing shows which offer a great value due to the size of the venue there is always a good selection of seats and the multiple bars during the break lends themselves to a quick rest break, I'd recommend the grand circle for the better views point
Very nice I bit expensive for drinks and that but show was brilliant
Never been to a bad show, also great production and good selection.
Visited it as a young child and keep coming back to it as an adult still a good place to be with and without children. Amazing performances.
"Mary Poppins", was one of, if not the best show, we have ever seen. Superb performances by all. Thank You.
Great theatre, friendly staff, good transport links and near conveniences
