The theatre is beautiful. So much care is taken of it, its granduer dedinitely takes you back in time.
Unfortunately there were sound issues during our show, but that didnt really spoil the evening.. what did spoil the evening however, was as we were leaving the show and a member of staff physically stepped out in front of me with a charity bucket and shook it at me.
The drinks and tickets are overpriced anyway, so knowing this..it was always going to be plastic in use. She made me feel very embarrassed for not having cash, as well as knocking me off balance. I appreciate anyone who raises money for charity, and will give whenever possible, but it really did spoil our evening, and we will not be returning.

I went to the theatre royal tonight. I queued to get in I had my ticket and handbag checked by a cheery woman. I bought a drink at the bar and paid for drinks at the interval. I took my seat in the auditorium. Now I'm a visitor to Newcastle and I didn't know there was more than one theatre so I made the mistake but the door staff perpetuated it by not checking my ticket correctly. After error identified staff unable to direct me to correct theatre and i missed out on the drinks I purchased for the interval in my hurry to get to the right theatre

I come every year for the panto (the last 15 years) it is gorgeous but you have to park in a car park somewhere nearby. There are loads of great restaurants nearby, and it's not far from fenicks window- A must see at Christmas.

Don't park in Shakespeare St! Obscure signage doesn't make clear that one side of the street is reserved for taxis in the evening. TWELVE cars had tickets, surely an indication that the council have done something wrong OR that they consider this a cornucopia of cash. Those who were ticketed, APPEAL. Write to the council and the local paper. They're YOUR elected councillors.

Beautiful building. Lovely staff. Seats hurt your bottom a bit but they provide cushions if you're lucky enough to get one, could take your own though. Lovely member of staff called Stacey was so welcoming and genuine on our visit. Some world class shows on here, definitely recommend a visit.

Have seen some excellent plays here No man's land, To kill a mockingbird, 12 angry men , Driving miss daisy to name few. Also ballets with friends (and even with hubby although he did say once was enough!) It has great character and looks amazing inside and out. It's taken lots of my money over the years but worth it update Jan 19 go and see Comedy about a bank robbery- hilarious! Now looking forward to 2 ballets - Cinderella next week and Swan Lake in May #excited

Well went to see The Railway Children and what do you know there was a delay due to some technical difficulties. Just like our very one beloved railways. I have visited the Theatre Royal on many occasions and this one proved to be as good as all the others. The staff dealt with disabled people in wheelchairs,a huge parties of schoolkids and many others with their customary politeness and skill. To anyone visiting Newcastle and wanting to take in a show you will be well looked after

Went to see "an inspector calls". As usual the production was top class. An interesting morality story that was very well presented. I dont go to the theatre royal very often but it's always a great experience. Perhaps the bar is little expensive?

Saw Mama Mia here last night, first time back since I was around 17 years old, and the Theatre still has that magical feel.

The staff are always super friendly, and more than happy to assist you getting to your seats. There are lifts, for those who cant manage the amount of stairs, and a bar on the grand and upper levels.
The seats are comfy, but a little snug, so toy might find your elbows hitting your neighbours lol.

Mama Mia itself was amazing! I've wanted to see this live for a while now, and boy, it was fantastic.

Brilliant production of Holes. Staff and facilities were great, too. Performance was spoiled somewhat by the constant chattering in some sections of the audience. I understand that there's little the theatre can do about this but a reminder, similar to those in the cinema, about talking and turning mobile phones off might be useful. We'll return regardless.
