it's nice indoor place with cheerful staff, we were there for afternoon tea, it was delightful time, I gave 4 star because we had a small table (we were 4 adults and a toddler), when the food and drinks came we had to engineer our way to fit everything on :) everything else was great

So my friend just popped back for a week from Hong Kong and she was raving on about the cheesecake from this place. We scheduled a last minute meeting for tea here, although we did try to book first. My friend was told that it was fully reserved but we can try to walk in.

Lo and behold, counting our lucky stars, when we walked in at 430pm on a Saturday they found a spare table which they need back at 6pm for dinner, and we thought why not, 1.5 hours are quite sufficient for tea, so we were seated.

The decor of the place is pretty grand but you are not charged extortionate prices for the pleasure, which was of course, very pleasurable ;) I opted for a cream tea which consisted of 3 scones with the normal clotted cream and strawberry jam and went for Darjeeling tea, and my friend asked for Earl Gray with a slice of cheese cake.

The food was good but nothing spectacular. While I thought the cheese cake tasted pretty average, maybe excelling at being more smooth in texture than usual, I wouldn't really say this is a thing to die for. The scones were also pretty much what one would expect, although I really appreciate the place giving me plenty of clotted cream and jam to slather generously over my scones. Nothing like not enough toppings to go around to spoil your mood right?

I have had a look at the afternoon tea which includes the sandwiches and also other desserts, but it didn't really strike me as that much more fanciful than other high tea places. Now if they were doing super cute themes like in the Landau (i.e. Valentines theme, Fashion week themed cakes/desserts), I would be more tempted to give this more stars. Service is good, the decor is good, the food is so so, therefore this place gets a 4 stars from me!

Excellent food and service. Obviously, you pays for what yoo's gets. The building was opened as a Wolesley car showroom in the early 1920s, and then became a branch of Barclays Bank until 1989, before becoming a restaurant.

Went there for my Birthday and had some amazing food and great atmosphere! Not cheap but if you skip alcohol - the main course is quite fairly priced. If you order steak - be prepared that even medium done is still quite rare (at least it More

Amazing that this Piccadilly eatery is still packing the punters in day after day. Menu is as good as ever although I fear the lateness of my lunch may have influenced the quality of the food. Impeccable service.

The service experience is exceptional. I requested a plate of the typical menu of the place but I did not like it, the waiter was only so aware that he came to talk to me to identify what happens ... 1) He tried to communicate in Spanish despite not speaking, he made me laugh ... 2) I took an order that was what I usually ate to make a breakfast to my liking. In conclusion I went to breakfast and they didn't let me go without breakfast. No additional costs. They are really amazing

Very nice shop in the heart of London
A very good choice of Scotch and Japanese whiskey.
Some very nice bottles made by independent bottlers. I especially found a beautiful Laphroeig 20 years old in a sublime box. If you like whiskey this shop is to discover.

Fabulous quality cup of tea, lovely afternoon tea (sandwiches/cakes). Only criticism is small but the jam should have seeds/chunks of fruit in it. It was more puree. Obviously some people have moaned and I say to them that they should eat proper jam or stop moaning. The Wols should be strong and stand up to these jam roly poly types

Breakfast that will cost you like lunch, but nice to spend time with the rich in the city in the early 20th century. Excellent service, beautiful stone floor, every detail, up to the chic silver cutlery.

Great British experience in St James but its a little tarnished now - what was silver service is now stainless steel.

Lots of small sloppy mistakes from the kitchen & the floor: smudged flatware from the kitchen, cracked glassware, droppages, breakages, slow service.

The classic dishes are perfect, sides & salads could be perceived bad value for money. Its odd seeing people order burgers here, there are better choices like Smoked Haddock Monte Carlo, Weiner Schnitzels Holstein & Kedegree.

One small annoyance was that there are no english wines represented on the menu even as a special instead of Puligny-Montrachet.

All in all its still a treat if some what past it.

Tasty dinner in truly spectacular surroundings. This ex-car-showroom is now a stunningly beautiful restaurant, with great food to go with it. Eggs benedict (yes, as a starter for dinner) and afternoon tea stand out. Perfect for a romantic evening, but also for a buzzy night out with friends. Order wisely and it needn't be super expensive, either (though it can be!).

Beautiful restaurant with great staff serving a blend of English and French cuisines. I had the fishcake with poached eggs and toast and it was all delicious! There is a nice bar area to wait in as well, as without a reservation you should definitely expect to wait.

One of best experience in London. I really enjoyed my first Full English breakfast here with quite nice atomosphere. I went here as a toursist, but many local people visited.
Restaurant staff provided good service.
Reservation can be easily made on the web even one day before. Highly recommended to make a reservation before you go.

About The Wolseley

The Wolseley is a café-restaurant located in the heart of Mayfair, on London’s iconic Piccadilly. It is one of the most popular dining destinations in the city, serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and weekend brunch. The restaurant has a rich history and has been an integral part of London’s social scene for over 100 years.

The Wolseley was originally built as a car showroom for Wolseley Motors in 1921. In 2003 it was transformed into a café-restaurant by restaurateurs Chris Corbin and Jeremy King. The duo had previously owned some of London’s most successful restaurants including The Ivy and Le Caprice.

The restaurant's interior is grand and opulent with high ceilings, marble pillars, chandeliers and art deco features. It exudes an old-world charm that transports diners back to the glamourous era of the 1920s.

One of the highlights at The Wolseley is their breakfast menu which includes classic dishes such as Eggs Benedict, Kedgeree and Full English Breakfast. They also offer lighter options such as fruit salad or granola for those who prefer something healthier.

For lunch or dinner guests can choose from a range of European-inspired dishes including steak tartare, Wiener Schnitzel or grilled sea bass with fennel puree. Vegetarians are also well catered for with options such as roasted butternut squash risotto or wild mushroom tagliatelle.

Afternoon tea at The Wolseley is an experience not to be missed. Served on tiered cake stands it includes finger sandwiches filled with smoked salmon or cucumber & cream cheese; freshly baked scones served with clotted cream & jam; and an array of delicate pastries & cakes.

Weekend brunch at The Wolseley is another popular option where guests can indulge in dishes such as blueberry pancakes with maple syrup; avocado toast with poached eggs; or smoked salmon bagels served with cream cheese & capers.

In addition to its food offerings, The Wolseley also boasts an impressive wine list featuring wines from around the world including France, Italy and Australia. They also have a selection of cocktails which are perfect for pre-dinner drinks or after-work gatherings.

Overall, dining at The Wolseley is more than just eating out - it's an experience that combines great food with impeccable service in stunning surroundings steeped in history. Whether you're looking for breakfast before work; lunch during your shopping trip on Oxford Street; afternoon tea after visiting Buckingham Palace; dinner before heading to the theatre; or weekend brunch catching up with friends - there's something for everyone at this iconic London institution!
