My friends surprised me with a stay here for my bachelorette party. The room was okay. The carpets need cleaning. There was no ice bucket, or utensils (even though there was a full kitchen (a microwave in place of a stove), and there were only a few glasses even though the room was large enough for the 5 of us staying there.

We went to the rooftop bar and were asked to pay a cover charge. My friend told the "bouncer" that when she reserved our room she was told there was no cover charge for hotel guests. He said he would let three people in without a cover and that was it. There were 6 of us so she paid for 3 people ($30). As we were going in, another friend noticed he let the girls behind us in without paying a cover, so she asked her if they were asked to pay a cover and the girl replied: "Yes, but we don't have to because we're staying here (at the hotel)." This is when she realized our group was made to pay and the group of white girls behind us was not. My friend proceeds to ask another person if their group was charged a cover and security overheard her telling them we were asked to pay and the other girls weren't. We had a mixed group (we always do). Our group happened to have 3 black girls, 2 white girls, and a korean/black girl. A few minutes later 3 security guards surrounded her near the bar and asked her to follow them. At this point, I did not know what was happening, but I know my friends, and we don't go out stirring up trouble. We like to have a good time and get home safely. After some back and forth with security, the head security guard asked my friend who paid to come and talk with him privately. He gave her a refund and we all left. We got in an elevator (escorted by a security guard), and he pressed the button for the lobby. We reminded him we were guests at the hotel and that our room was on the 25th floor, so we didn't need to go to the lobby. He shouts "Well, I need a room key." After offering him several room keys for the 25th floor, he takes us there and we went to our room.

I will NEVER stay at this hotel again. I've stayed at much better hotels downtown and will recommend those to my friends, family, and clients. The Wit should invest in a few customer service classes and a better cleaning crew.

I was so pleased with the warm greeting as soon as we pulled up. Warm cookies during arrival was a nice welcome after being stuck in traffic. The on going support and hospitality was like nothing I have ever experienced at any other hotel. I will definitely be making this my new Hotel for my all of my downtown Chicago trips.

Initially the suite we had was great, but that night we had a foul odor coming in the room and we got accommodated to a just a king room, nothing compared to the suite we had. We finally got upgraded to another suite but still, it wasn't up to par with the initial suite we booked. Unfortunately we ended up checking up and booking another hotel.

Watch your bill. Employees will gladly add a few bucks to their tip when you charge something to your room. When I showed this to the front desk (and proved it when I asked to see a copy of the signed receipt), management initially tried to push back and let the charge through and wouldn't even come out of the back to speak to me face to face.

We ubered our way over from the train station. We were instantly met by kind employees. They offered us warm cookies and gave us another as we left the lat day.
Our room was fantastic and overlooked the theatre we were going to the next night. We enjoyed the downstairs restaurant for breakfast the morning we left. We enjoyed room service.
One complaint would be that maybe the area around the shower could have been cleaner. And getting stuck on the elevator at night took us and a couple other couples to realize we needed to use our cards to go up higher-our own fault-Otherwise we didn't have any issues.

Always have great service at Hilton properties. Stayed on 9th floor, and the front desk removed incorrect mini bar charges without hassle. Quiet, clean, comfortable room. Only oddity was the song bird soundtrack in the hallways. I could hear the El from my room, but had no issues with minor sounds of the city at night.

I was there for a party on the roof top where we purchased a table. As the night went we had guest ordering food and drinks and paying the server upfront. At the end of the night the bill came and all the Paid for items where still listed. We assume she must have decided it was her tip. Very messed up.

This higher end hotel located in downtown Chicago ...

This higher end hotel located in downtown Chicago is close to everything that downtown has to offer. It is just south of the Magnificent Mile, several blocks west of Millennium Park, adjacent to the theater district, and north of the financial district.

The front desk staff are fast to check you in and get you to your room. The rooms are nicely sized with some good views. Our room was clean and without any issues.

The hotel has a well know roof bar that is great during the summer but stays open during cold winter, though the bay doors on the roof are closed with certain weather conditions.

The adjacent restaurant State and Lake Tavern is not good. There are much better options around the area.

My stay there was very pleasant and actually without complaint. It is a bit pricey, and that made me want to drop it to four stars but I have a hard time doing that when the stay was pleasant.

The hotel is nice, but the marketing is quite misleading. When you look at their promo they make it look like a hip place for a young-ish crowd. However, as you check-in they make you sign something stating that floors are considered quiet areas and you can pay a fee from $500-$2000. This is fine, we all appreciate a good night's sleep; however, by the time we got to the room we were not able to even chat at at a regular volume because the person on the other room would knock hard on our side of the room. We couldn't even put the TV. I wish if they had this policy, the walls of the rooms and the insulation would be better so that you wouldn't have to be afraid to have a conversation or watch TV in your own room. Also, the train goes right by the hotel, so even on the 9th floor it was quite loud and it ran all night. So much for quiet space.
On positive side, the location is great and the warm cookies when you check in are always nice. Staff was courteous. Still, I would not choose this hotel again since we didn't feel comfortable in our own room. If you are looking for a quiet place to rest, you may get it in this hotel, but you need to check which floors are away from the L-train and the noise of the rooftop bar.

It's a really nice upscale hotel. I typically stay at less extravagant locations but this had some very nice decor and a very friendly staff. It might be just me, but fhe nicer the place I stay the internet speed is a let down. Of course you can pay for a higher speed connection but with the price why do you have to pay to get better service that I can get for free at a less elegant location.

I just wanted to say what a pleasure it was to stay at the Wit. We were to have a Babymoon in Chicago from Atlanta. We had an early arrival on the 17th with a late flight out on the 19th. Unfortunately our 7am 17th flight was cancelled and they put us on a 2pm flight. It too was delayed. We didn't get in to our hotel until 4:50pm instead of the 10am that we expected. But I was communicating with theWit via Facebook and they made sure everything was ready and cozy for us when we arrived. THEY WERE SUCH A RELIEF after a day of delays, and cancellations. Nicole at the front desk was a smiling Godsend! She felt our pain and even sent up some snacks and water for my pregnant wife who hadn't had much to eat that day because of the delays. Then... we had some cancellations in Chicago and missed reservations at restaurants but Bernice and the concierge crew were there to help and get us going. Day of checkout we were able to leave out bags with the staff and go explore the city that we were unable to do because of our cancellations on Sunday. We made it to Wrigley, The Field, and the Zoo. IT was a great day.... UNTIL.. our flight was delayed 4-times. Kim Seang at the restaurant went above and beyond when she heard our story and invited us in the restaurant for happy hour and a place to relax instead of sitting in the airport for 6-hours. She brought me a beer and my wife a hot cookie covered in icecream. It was EXACTLY what we needed. We sat there for hours and chatted with Kim and the other staff. This really alleviated my anxiety of flying thought a major storm (Not a good flyer). So we enjoyed relaxing and chatting and it really helped. As a person who spent 15-years traveling in and being in the service/hospitality industry... I would have to say that these ambassadors of theWit were the best I have encountered. Their smiling faces and understanding really give "Southern Hospitality" that we are used to in ATL a run for it's money. We will be back for a visit!

The lobby of The Wit is nice and classy. There is a nice lounge area on second floor that one wall is filled with records and pictures of classic celebrities in black and white. Drinks are not bad.
If you go to the Spa, service is so-so, which the girl is very young and no common sense about how to take care of customers. My friend and I had attended an event at the Wit Spa and all the ladies were frustrated that things were not running smoothly. Not organized as a first come first serve for this event. Disappointing for many people.

Great location for the Theatre dustrict, and at an El Stop, decent rates for the standard room, but everything is an add-on. No in-room coffee, no complimentary water, but there are $6 bottles of EVIAN and PERRIER in the room. But you do get a free chocolate chip cookie at check-in. If your prepared for the adds (valet parking only at $65.00 btw) , it's a good stay. Staff is friendly and accomodating. Only a block off Wacker, so you'll hear the emregency vehicles using that route.

I decided to book a suite for my birthday and was very eager to have fun at the Rooftop. Needless to say my experience was not stellar, I was not able to get my corporate discount. After checking in my key card wouldn't work I had to call the desk to have someone come give me a activated card. I waited 20min to get the new card for it not to work and had to wait another 20min for another card after that. I loved the room and the rooftop but I paid too much for mediocre service.

Enjoyed the location, perfect for getting to the theater and near to the train, the navy pier, etc. Very nice room (We had a corner King room with great views). Service was excellent, prices consistent with the area. I would stay again! Only downside is the cost of parking herr, but you can park in a nearby garage for less.

Nice hotel and spacious room. Room was a little loud when we first checked in but quiet enough when we returned to our room for the night. Valet was really busy so there was a bit of a wait. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

My daughter and my Ex Wife (Tracy Collins) stayed ...

My daughter and my Ex Wife (Tracy Collins) stayed at this hotel in December (Thursday the 27th thru Saturday the 29th) for my daughter's 13th birthday trip to Chicago. I made the reservation for them online, and paid for their room, as a birthday present for my daughter. I am a Hilton Honors member. When they went to check-in to the hotel the front desk manager (Nicole H) was VERY rude to them. I had already put a credit card on file for their stay. They called me during check-in and told me that the front desk manager would not let them check-in with the card on file, and insisted that they had to have written permission, from me, to charge my credit card. All this was going on in front of my 13 year old daughter, who was there to celebrate her birthday !! I personally had to fax the front desk manager a written permission form for the credit card on file before they were allowed to check in. I discussed all of this with Nicole H and she was also VERY rude to me !! My argument was, I could elected to have a digital key for them on my Ex Wife's cell phone (Tracy Collins), and THEY NEVER WOULD HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH THIS HASSLE. When I talked with the Front Desk manager (Nicole H) about this, she would not even give me her full name over the phone. She told me that a digital key would not work, even though I told her that I had already tried it, and it did work. I firmly believe this employee should be reprimanded, and disciplined. She was very rude and very uncooperative !! I will definitely never stay at this property again, and I am sure my daughter will not have a very favorable memory of her 13th birthday experience at the Dewitt Hotel Chicago !

The hotel is not a good place especially if you are with family, the staff would keep saying have a good time when you enter or exist but they won't respond clearly to quire's. The breakfast plan is horrible.. they charge 20$ but have only bagels, and very poor. It's very confusing like I eat for 6$ out of 20$ and give a tip of 1$ ( as they specifically ask for tip in the sign sheet every day, they will ask you for 1$ when you exit where you have technically paid 20$ +1$) I felt really bad with their services. I won't recommend it

The hotel was nice and very contemporary. The service was good, even when I arrived at the hotel at 2 am. I'm a big fan of the contemporary design and their rooftop bar! The rooms are also generously sized and very comfortable.

Overall the hotel it s self is extremely beautiful, and most of the staff are extremely friendly and very egar to work with you. The night shift staff are my favorite.

How ever, the one thing that did surprise me I was not informed of an additional $125 a night charge for each room as a incidental fee. I booked two rooms in Early January and I was not disclosed this information. I was not informed until three days before our trip. I was out $500 for both rooms, which would not of been a problem if I knew early on. I do think when booking, that I for should be shares immediately.

The other problem I had was one of my rooms received a noise complaint with no one being in the room.
